A three minute walk straight out the front door puts you standing on a beautiful white sandy beach on the Gulf of Mexico. Beautiful historic Victorian home built in 1900 situated on Second Street in a very established and charming neighborhood graced by lovely plantings including camelias and numerous towering live oaks.
This neighborhood affords the opportunity for great walks with your family or your dog. This home has been completely updated and features the original high ceilings and heart pine floors. A wrap around porch with wicker furniture and a double 'love' swing greet newcomers as they ascend the front porch.
The front door opens to a spacious living room with plenty of seating and television and fireplace for entertaining. To the left are French doors that open to a lovely front reading room abundant with windows and natural light allowing house guests to get lost in their favorite novel. This room with hard pine flooring and high ceiling is furnished with antiques and tiffany lamps and has the added comfort and convenience of having its own bathroom. The cozy couch opens up to a queen sized bed for your invited guests. The oversized formal dining room has a built-in cabinet with hard pine flooring and high ceiling. A wonderful setting to 'wine and dine' your family and guests.
The main floor has two bedrooms each with a queen sized bed and private bathroom. The staircase leads to a separate bedroom upstairs with bathroom. The upstairs bedroom has numerous windows. The beckoning beach and beautiful Gulf of Mexico can be seen in the distance. The room is furnished with two queen size beds. A perfect room for a couple with kids or a place for all the kids. Two of the three bedrooms have their own TV with VHS and/or DVD.
The kitchen is a full sized kitchen including an island with stools and a dining table. The kitchen is the centerpiece of the house and its beauty will pleasantly surprise you. The kitchen's back door opens onto a very spacious wood deck as well as a brick patio both fully furnished with furniture as well as a gas grill. A very beautiful and spacious backyard with live oaks and copious amounts of shade await your coming. The property spans four city lots and therefore has plenty of room for parking vehicles for 'Cruisin' the Coast' and for your boat and trailer or camper.
Downtown Gulfport is a short walk away. If you like to walk the ISLAND VIEW CASINO RESORT is also within walking distance. The gaming destinations along this 26 mile beach are second only to Vegas.
The 26 mile long beach is a gorgeous beach to explore with numerous wharfs, beach activities, shopping, beachcombing, and restaurants. Biloxi with its numerous casinos is just a few minutes away by car, bike or the local transportation.
The beach is home to the charming, small southern towns of Long Beach, Pass Christian and Bay St. Louis which are great for shopping for antiques. The area has over 20 golf courses including one of the 'top ten' public golf courses in the country. The casinos and Biloxi coliseum offer grand entertainment and numerous live shows. The fabulous and historic town of New Orleans is only an hour away.
The Gulfport harbor offers daily excursions to Cat Island. The Gulf Islands National Seashore is only a dozen miles off the coast and affords great swimming and a quiet place to hang out on your boat.

This was a wonderful house, we had a great time. The sofa sleeper was just ok, all the other sleeping beds were great. The house has a lot of room for our crowd. We are a group of 4 couples. It did take us awhile to figure out the shower water, we were not able to take showers at the same time, but worked out a plan. The owner was very helpful with any questions we had. You would be able to walk to the gulf shore, but parking is easy to get to. We went up Hwy 90 to the casinos, ate at Shaggys,on the shore, took a tram tour of the area, we booked a sail boat, went to New Orleans,(2 hour drive) had a blast,it is a differant place! Lots to see. Across from the house is 2 restaurants you can walk this, Saloutos had the best food choice for our group pizza to steaks. The guys in our group golfed 3 of the days, all within a short drive, the weather for us was perfect. We enjoyed sitting on the huge front porch in the evenings, and early morning. the back deck also was very roomy. We ate all our meals out,we just bought breakfast cereals and doughtnuts, and things to drink and snack on,( we were there for the baseball play- offs) All in all it was a wonderful vacation for all of us,and we will certaintly go back to Harrison Historic House for another Gulfport stay. Just to let you know a little about us,we are all in our early 60's,and have been friends since early chidhood a lot of planning went into this vacation and it was a wonderful success!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

This house was a great value for the money. It has a wonderful kitchen with many upgrades throughout the house. The house was big enough for our family to gather. There was enough space for all of us to retreat when in need of a little free time. The front porch in the evening was delightful. The only issue we had was the train. We had some light sleepers up stairs and the train made them loose a little sleep. The rest of the families did fine. The beach was only a block away with many amenities and very clean. The house was close to many attractions making sightseeing enjoyable.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We loved the house. Kitchen and decorations are fabulous. Rooms are nice and front porch and back area provide for great socializing and place to rest. There is a cute park down the street with a great tennis court if you like to play (about 3 blocks) and good for little kids. It provided the perfect vacation for our family. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to stay in the area. The caretaker recommended places to grocery shop (Froogels?) and the Fata Morgana show at the Beau Rivage (circ de soleil type show) that was great. Distance for a day trip to New Orleans is perfect ( about an hour). The upstairs room is a little musty - I suspect because there is carpet (the main floor all wood), but overall the house if fabulous and none of us wanted to leave. I would highly recommend this as a vacation spot for anyone.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband and I, along with three other couples, stayed at The Harrison Historic House for one week during Cruisin The Coast 2011. The house, just like the weather in October, was perfect! It can be difficult to find a house with four bedrooms and four bathrooms but this house has just that and more. This house offers the privacy of a hotel combined with the atmosphere of a personal home. The kitchen was large enough for all eight of us to gather for breakfast and plan our day. We appreciated the washer and dryer, especially when the guys only brought enough clean clothes for a few days. Men do not know how to pack for a week away from home! The large fenced in back yard was perfect for our classic cars, offering us the space and security needed. My favorite part of the house was the front porch. From my first cup of coffee in the morning to my evening glass of wine, it was perfect! To sum it up, I will pass on a comment by one the the men in our group. "You know it was a great week when four couples can spend an entire week together in a house without any harsh words or hurt feelings." None of us had traveled or spent more than a day together prior to this trip.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed at historic Harison house over the Thanksgiving holiday. The home was beautifuly decorated, well maintained, spacious, and had a kitchen that made a wonderful gathering place for family. My husband and I drove from Florida and my sister and husband from Texas, and my son from New Orleans.. It was a perfect place to meet with another son and family living close by in the Bloxi area. We took long walks on the beach every day, and enjoyed sightseeing in the area. The house was equipted with WI- Fy , so we were all able to use our favorite electronics. We would love to visit again in the future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our family rented the house the end of July and loved it. The house was as described and well layed out 2 give everyone their space. We walked to the beach and loved the big sand bars. It was fun to walk out so far. We went crabbing w/the grandkids, played baseball on the sand bar, hit the outlet mall, took the boat out, went to the casino, had some good food at Blow Fly Inn which is about 10 min from the house. As you can see there was something for everyone. We grilled in the backyard and had a big meal(Fish that son in laws caught) and family game night in the dining room. It was a very nice house, close to the beach and we had a great time. It was a bit uncomfortable not having a contract as we have had with other rental properties but it all worked out. I would give the Harrison House a sounding endorsement for potential renters. It had everything we needed and although was nice and a beautiful restoration, it was not stuffy.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I stayed at the Harrison Historic House on Labor Day weekend with my wife and 2-year old, and we loved it. The house is on a quiet peaceful street, and it was such a welcome change from our usual condo vacations. We didn't have to ride elevators with all our luggage, or worry about noise from people in other units. The house has everything that you would need to cook, and there are some very good restaurants in close proximity. The home has been totally renovated -- it's in really good shape and it's well-maintained and clean. All in all, I would highly recommend this house to anyone coming to the Biloxi/Gulfport area. We loved it.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My husband and I and other family members enjoyed a week in this lovely home. The kitchen is truly a dream and it was a pleasure to prepare meals for our group. It is just a short walk to the beautiful beach and we also enjoyed walking in the neighborhood. There are many activities nearby and we could have enjoyed staying longer than a week.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Harrison House was a beautifully restored 1800's home. Someone took a lot of time painting and decorating each room. The best parts of the house were the backyard deck/grill and the kitchen. We stayed for a week and cooked at least 2 meals every day. The kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils you need to prepare and serve meals. We had an 83 year old, a 6 year old, several 40 and 50 year olds and on the weekend four 25 year old graduate students and everyone found something they enjoyed doing every day. The beach was within walking distance. There was a shower in front of a hotel close to the road we used to rinse off the sand. The oil was not on the beach so it was visited daily and the depth was perfect for the 6 year old. The college students showed everyone skimmer boards and the 6 year old with his parents took to it like a duck to water. The 83 year old enjoyed sitting on the deck every morning and evening. She also loved the casinos. My husband went fishing on a pier that was located about a 7 minute car ride away and caught 5 flounder over about 3 days. We had grilled flounder our last night. We all decided we would definitely like to do it again. Thank you for letting us use your house.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: I am a pilot, a Captain with a major airline and have traveled all over the world. In all of my travels I have found the beaches of southern Mississippi to be some of the best and the beaches of the offshore islands are simply beautiful. The southern hospitality in this town is wonderful. My daughter in the picture loves it here in Gulfport.
Why the Owner Chose Gulfport:
We like this area for the beaches and the offshore islands. You can't beat the proximity to the beaches, the golf courses, the casinos and the nearby military bases.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We like to walk the beach in the morning right at sunrise and again in the evening at sunset. We also enjoy walking to the nearby piers and fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. We enjoy walking out our front door and crossing the street into the parking lot of the local Italian restaurant 'Salute' and feasting on great Italian fare and good Italian wine.
