There's not a whole lot to say about this Solitude condo except that it's awesome. The condo itself is big & clean, and you get TV and wi-fi in every room. Beyond that, the owners are incredibly helpful should anything come up. The complex has not one, but three available hot tubs, and they seem to be pretty much empty all the time. But the real reason to stay is the skiing, and there aren't enough good things to say about that. You can walk right out of the building if you want to ski Solitude, or you can drive a couple of miles up the street to try out Brighton. If you really feel like it, you can take a 45-minute or so drive around the canyon to Snowbird or Alta. There aren't any bad choices there.

We spent five nights and had a great time. Two minute walk to the chair lift and you are on your way to a great day of skiing. BTW...The mushroom soup at the Bistro is FABULOUS. I could of had this for dinner every night. The room was great and relaxing. Good view of the mountain out of the balcony. The hot tub was a welcome site each afternoon. The owner (Ralph) was very responsive to any questions we had and had great suggestions to make our stay more enjoyable.

Wonderful time at Solitude

Our family of 5 had a wonderful visit to Solitude and enjoyed the comfortable accommodations in the Powderhorn Lodge. Ralph and Cathy were excellent hosts, giving us directions to the grocery store, advice on discount lift tickets and restaurant recommendations. They were very responsive and always helpful. Ralph even called the unit on our first evening at the condo to see if we had any questions. The condo was perfect. The beds were all comfortable and the kids didn't need to fight over the TV's since there are 3 flat screens in the unit. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything we needed for cooking a few meals. I should mention that the coffee maker's "on" button was a little bit of a challenge so it always took me a handful of tries before it turned on. The wifi in the unit was a huge hit with everyone in the family, especially the kids and their iTouches. The ski locker on the first floor was very convenient and managed to fit 2 adult skis and 3 kids skis just fine. The kids loved Club Solitude, with the steamy outdoor pool after a long day on the slopes (towels are provided at the club) and the children's movies playing each night. They also loved the ski patrol's rescue dog demonstration. Skiing was great over Presidents' Day weekend -- never had to wait longer than 5 minutes in any lift lines. The locals seemed a little down about the amount of snowfall so far this year (only 190 inches this year), but it was still a ton of snow for us -- we've only had 7 inches of snow in Boston this winter. Since it was our first time on the slopes this season, we put the kids in ski school on the first day so they could get a refresher. They enjoyed it so much that they wanted to be in ski school every day of our stay. We were very happy with the size of the groups and we thought the instructors did a great job adjusting the groups at lunch time so that each of the kids were at the appropriate level. Each of the kids had a blast and showed noticeable improvement after 3 days in ski school. My summary wouldn't be complete without mentioning that I managed to dislocate my shoulder skiing on the last day of the trip, oh joy! Fortunately, I'm glad to say that the care I received at the Solitude medical clinic was first-rate. They took x-rays, reset my shoulder and prescribed pain meds so I never had to go down to the hospital in the valley. Tough way to end an otherwise excellent vacation! We look forward to visiting again.

Ralph and Cathy couldn't have been more accommodating for our vacation February 9-13. The condo was wonderful....a flat screen HDTV in every room, FULLY equipped kitchen, and impressive view of the slopes. After a long day of skiing, we looked forward to relaxing in the comfort of their condo! We will be back next year.

This condo was everything we could have asked for and more! Any thing you could possibly need is in this place! And the central location is so perfect to walk to anywhere you need to go! The view was amazing...so was the snowboarding and all of the locals! I'll definitely be back!

This was the perfect place for us to stay in Solitude. It was our first trip to the area and the owners were very helpful and easy to work with. The location is ideal and everything was just as promised. We had four adults and four children, and I couldn't imagine an easier ski trip. Powderhorn 2 br Condo

This is the perfect place for 4-6 people planning a ski trip to Solitude. The condo I owner , Ralph, has the system down pat. Easy to reserve, great communication about getting in before arrival . He does like Iike a pro, and makes you feel like family. The place is great with three flat screens TVs, free wifi, well equipped modern kitchen, and iPod docking. The view is overlooking the ice skating rink, mid village and the Apex lift and slopes. Two options of hot tubs and outdoor pool. After renting from the resort a couple years ago, I see no reason not to go with this condo when we return next year. Hopefully we will get another 36 inches of snow like this time!!!!

I stayed with my family and my brother's family (Raul Hernandez) in this condo (party of eight) and we had a blast during our stay in Powderhorn. Great location near everything, comfortable beds, beautiful view. I still cannot believe how accesible is the landlord, he provided us all needed details and useful tips. The people who work at Solitude are very friendly and make us feel at home. Great pizza place for those frozen days, overall the place is quite, clean and beautiful.

I would like to extend our depthest gratitude from our family for the excellent accomodation we enjoyed for the past week.  All the information provided was accurate, very helpful and indeed helped us enjoy to the fullest these days. The kitchen was fully equipped (with many utensils and appliances), rooms were big and comfortable, 3 LCD screens with many HD channels, great view and location. The room was close to the laundry room, the elevator, lifts and to a great pizza place. Finally, the landlord has been approachable at any time, answers calls & e-mails as soon as he can (our experience immediately) and even help us on some left items in the laundry room. Christmas ski vacation 2011

We rented this condo for the week starting on Christmas night. Our family of 5 adults ( 3 college age children) had a wonderful stay. The kitchen was well equipped to handle our cooking needs, the beds were great and the couch beds were also in good shape and everything was CLEAN. The view is great from the 2nd story balcony overlooking the ice skating rink. The Powderhorn Lodge itself seemed to be verify friendly and accommodating to our needs. The ski in and out area worked really well while renting skies on site. The hot tubs were great and the heated out door pool and fire pits added to the enjoyable experience. The restaurants are a little pricey, so I would recommend cooking some meals in the condo. Our family made some wonderful memories this week in Utah. I would recommend this condo for your stay.

Spacious, Convenient, and Beautifully Maintained - Great Price, Too!

We are a family of 7 (5 kids ages 7-14 and 2 grownups) who spent 6 nights at Solitude for our ski vacation in March. We always feel a bit crammed in whenever we rent - but not so at Powderhorn 211! This condo is roomy and beautifully maintained and the price was very reasonable, especially for a ski-in/ski-out location. Ample closet space to hang ski gear and clothing. A nice dining area that was roomy enough to accomodate our family AND my parents (that's 9 people) for dinner. Powderhorn is so close to the slopes you can stop back to eat lunch, remove a layer or grab some sunscreen without having to spend extra time or extra money at the resort. We ate nearly all our meals at the condo - full kitchen with everything you need - so our trip was economical as well as enjoyable (we did shop in Salt Lake Valley before heading up the canyon). And the unit is wonderfully close both to the elevators and the free laundry room. Ralph and Cathy obviously work hard to make sure their guests have an enjoyable stay. They answered all our questions in a very timely fashion and checked in with us upon our arrival to make sure we got settled in. We loved the Village - the ticket, rental and repair shop is right in the Powderhorn building and the ice cream at the Pizzaria next door is not to be missed! The kids were at Club Solitude most evenings either swimming or playing pool. My husband and I dined at Kimi's Bistro and thought the food there was simply excellent - better than anything we've had at the "bigger name" resorts such as Park City. Solitude is a beautiful, relaxed environment that offers something for every type of skier from beginner to expert. With the high-speed lifts there are no lines - and you definitely get in a ton of skiing. We enrolled our youngest in the ski-school and she loved her experience there. We will be returning to Solitude on our next ski vacation and would definitely rent from Ralph and Cathy again if the unit is available. We were never worried or stressed about our lodging - in fact, every aspect of that went so smoothly (from the original inquiry to the final details of check in/check out) that we could focus all our attention on skiing, fun and family time. That's the level of care and attention that the Greenawalds give to their guests.

Condo was fantastic,very clean and comfortable. Family had a great time. Short walk (couple minutes) to the lifts and the Resturants. Particularly like the fact that the Washer and Dryer room was right next door (it’s the little things)! The Club Solitude Sauna and Pool areas were also clean and well maintained. We skied Solitude, Brighton and Snowbird, loved them all, the snow was fantastic. That’s why I come out to Utah, haven’t had a bad snow year yet. It’s just a question of how good it gets! The Solitude staff personnel were always helpful and freindly. The owners are very accessible and responsive to any questions I had, both before and during the visit. I would definetely recommend to my family and friends.

Just returned from a great time at Ralph and Cathy's Condo at Solitude. We had a blast. You couldn't have asked for much else that this place didn't already have. The condo itself is VERY clean and well maintained. It is centrally located in the village along with a short walk to the lifts ( 2 min walk). A big plus for our group was the wifi located in the unit, along with laundry facilities which are located right down the hall. I would gladly return to Ralphs anytime as it truly was the perfect vacation place.

Perfect Christmas Getaway

This resort and this condo are perfect for a family getaway. We were looking for a quiet but active location for a pre Christmas vacation and we found it! Ralph is the perfect host. Whenever I emailed him regarding activities or questions in general, he always responded promptly to my emails. He even called the day we checked in to make sure everything was as advertised. The condo is immaculate. It is conveniently located. In just a few steps, you'll be at the ski rentals, the restaurants, shops, and the slopes. My 75 year old parents had no problems getting around. I highly recommend this resort and in particular this condo!

The condo was very spacious with two bedrooms and had an excellent view of Solitude. We enjoyed some great early season snow and loved the two minute walk to the ski lift. In the evenings we relaxed in the hot tubs and made the drive down the canyon to some great restaurants. Powderhorn 211 is the most amazing place to stay. Ralph was professional and easy to deal with from day one. Instructions were very detailed and every aspect of our trip was exactly as explained before hand. The condo's location couldn't be any better and the amenities were of the highest level. The condo was fully equipped with everything you could bring from home. I felt like I was staying in a 5 star resort/home for 5 days! I've skiied Colordao and New Mexico, but Utah is the best! There was no one at Solitude so skiing anywhere was great. Getting from the airport was a breeze and what a great village Solitude has to offer. If you're looking for an easy trip that will keep you coming back for years to come, call Ralph and make Powderhorn 211 your vacation home for years to come!

We just returned from a fabulous long weekend in Solitude....and it was perfect! The condo itself is located perfectly in the village; it's magical to stand on the balcony and overlook the ice rink and the kids making s'mores around the fire pit after a long day of skiing! Ralph's Condo at the Powderhorn Lodge is the ideal place for a perfect family/couple getaway. The condo's modern furnishings are great to come back to after a great day of skiing or hiking the mountain. This Condo has a great view of the mountain with a central location in the village for all your needs. Hoping that we can make more trips as our schedules permit. We had a great time at Ralph's Solitude condo. His instructions were perfect and service outstanding. We stayed there after Solitude season had finished (mid April), but skied at Brighton - 1 mile up the road, which was still convenient. The condo was very well set up - both in terms of functionality and quality. It was very relaxing to jump in the heated pool and HOT tub next door at Club Solitude at the end of a days' skiing. There was also a computer, cinema and pool table to keep the kids extremely happy. Our only regret is that we didn't get to enjoy what I imagine would be a nice village atmosphere in Solitude (as the shops were closed except for the general store at Club Solitude) and ski the Solitude slopes. We will definitely try to come back again. We love skiing in Cottonwood Canyon for another reason as well - we can be at a NBA game in 45 minutes door to door! Does life get any better?

Powderhorn 211 is a comfortable condo that's easy to relax in while you are staying at Solitude. Not only is the condo great, but so are Ralph and Cathy! They gave us a plethora of information to help us along, as well as great insider tips. In addition, Solitude is one of the greatest mtns to ski in Utah with a variety of terrain (even enough to scare the cliff-jumping backcountry lunatics that accompanied us). We will definitely be back!!

We've rented many properties in many locations through VRBO over the years, and Ralph and Cathy set the standard for other owners to strive for! Both were very professional and kind to deal with, and provided abundant information about the area and the property itself. They also forwarded plenty of "local knowledge" including shopping tips, weather links, maps and lift ticket discounts. Most importantly - the condo is very nice, in a great location, with all the comforts of home. It truly lives up to the description on the listing and their own website. Solitude is a great family ski destination with so much to offer both on and off the mountain. We enjoyed skiing the blue runs and trails through the trees with the kids, and found more challenging terrain for ourselves while they were happily entertained in the great ski school. We can't wait to go back!

We just came back from a February trip to Ralph's condo. We had a great time!! We were the max number of guests, but everyone fit comfortably. Solitude is a fun area, with plenty for the experts and beginners in our group. The lodge is VERY nice, and we loved Club Solitude!! The village is pretty quiet, but we had brought enough food for all our meals so that was not a problem. Thank you!! We'll be back.

Ralph, Thanks for the great accommodations. Very comfortable with a nice view of the mountain. The resort was great. The ski rental and ticket office on premise were friendly and convenient. The restaurants were very nice. The snow and skiing were great. Everything was just as you had said. It was nice to have underground parking because it snowed almost 4 feet while we were there. The ski locker is nice and the jacuzzi was a fun after-ski treat. We would love to do it again sometime. Thank you very much.

Thanks Ralph for a great family ski vacation. We found getting around Solitude to be so easy! We had a week of great snow and we kept our skis in the downstairs locker for easy ski out access in the mornings. We loved having a second bedroom for the kids, with their own TV and they loved having their own beds to sleep in. We ate in most nights and found everything we needed for making dinner in the kitchen. Club Solitude was a treat for all of us when we were finished skiing for the day. Thank you, Julie

Great comfortable condo for a family. Close walk to slopes, ski rentals, and restaurants if desired. Kids can come and get warm or a snack w/ no problem or concern. We a great visit to Solitude recently and the accommodations played a big part in the overall experience. Ralph and Cathy's condo has a terrific location for the ski-in / out setting. The condo has a great view of the Village and of the mountain. The condo is located adjacent to the elevator and laundry facilities making the "behind the scenes" activities very convenient. The condo itself is very well maintained and has the benefits of a wireless network, well supplied kitchen, and comfortable bedding. I must say the fold-out sofas are very comforatble, not like the typical backbreakers! I would highly recommend this condo (and Solitude) as a great family/group getaway!

We loved Ralph's condo! Great location, great skiing, and outstanding accomodations. Above all else, Ralph's attention to service and satisfaction was outstanding. Really enjoyed the stay and hope to be back soon.

This is the fourth year we/ve stayed at Solitude for our school's ski week in February. Ralph's 2BR condo is as nice as any we've stayed at in Solitude. An extra bonus with Ralph's unit is that you have TWO sofa bed's since one of the bedrooms is a "lock-out" unit with a King bed and sleeper sofa. This let us have our three kids sleep in the second bedroom leaving the family room open for the early risers to use when they get up in the morning. Solitude is simply the BEST resort we've ever visited for a family ski vacation!

Just returned from our family ski trip to Solitude. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Powderhorn 211. Mr. Greenawald was a pleasure to deal with. We found the unit to be exceptionally clean and the location was perfect. We'll certainly try to stay there again on our next visit.

Ralph's condo is centrally located, with a nice view of the mountain and ice skating rink. The kitchen is well equipped; wi-fi and dvd player appreciated. The early risers enjoyed their coffee by the lobby fireplace. All in all, an encellent vacation. We plan on returning next year.

My girlfriends and I had such a wonderful time at Solitude, in large part because we stayed at the Greenawald's condo. The condo was warm and inviting, spacious, VERY clean, and a short walk to the lifts. Ralph Greenawald was the most gracious host.

This condo is great! Extremely convenient to all the Village amenities. Very nicely appointed, including built-in WiFi access. The beds are comfortable, including the pull out sofas. The condo is convenient just off the elevator which leads to the parking garage or the lobby. The lobby ski locker is very easy to access, and the ski rental office is attached to the building just a few yards walk. Truly ski in, ski out. We highly recommend! Scott and Lisa Marie Brooks

Ralph's condo in the Powderhorn Lodge was perfect for our family vacation to see some snow and ski. Our family of 5 fit well with beds for all. The location is great with the balcony overlooking the ice rink including a view of the slopes. I would also recommend a meal at the Silver Fork Lodge, just a couple of miles down the mountain from Solitude. To top it all off the skiing was great.

4/12/06 We had a wonderful time during our Easter Ski Vacation. The snow was plentiful and the wheather was beautiful. This was the most relaxing ski trip we ever enjoyed!!! Laurie Benson Pearl River,LA
