WHO WE ARE: “LakeSide Cottages” are 3 uniquely different, quality, “ADULT” GETAWAYS” of which African Dream Catcher is the most captivating, inspiring, and, unfortunately(?), the most expensive. Our other two less expensive, but still very beautiful, retreats are Sahara-Sahel and Cozy Cottage. This ad soley illustrates African Dream Catcher.
SPECIALTY & RESTRICTIONS: LakeSide Cottages specializes in quietness and privacy for rest, relaxation and rejuvenation (even inspiration) in quality, clean, beautiful & unforgettable “cottagey” settings. We learned a long time ago that a successful business cannot be all things to all people. Consequently, our restrictions must include no children, no pets, no parties, and no smoking inside.
OVERVIEW: African Dream Catcher is very likely the very nicest African-theme cottage in all of Canada (maybe including the US too?). It is an exotically gorgeous getaway setting, situated very near the edge of a quiet and beautiful larger lake, one hour from Ottawa. Approximately 60% of the shoreline is, and will remain, undeveloped, so ... when you look across the lake with binoculars, you will not see someone with binoculars looking back at you ?. The opposite side of our lake is Papineau-Labelle Park.
MEDIA FEATURES: The African Dream Catcher great-room was a 2-page “Great Spaces” photo spread in the June 2009 issue of the upscale “Ottawa Magazine”. LakeSide Cottages, primarily featuring African Dream Catcher, was the most prominent in a summer 2008 Ottawa Citizen Newspaper story on “How To Find A Cottage On The Internet”.
ATMOSPHERE: African Dream Catcher is both a gorgeous cottage with a view, and a gorgeous view with a cottage. A very spacious and open (3500 sq ft), you will continually find new, interesting, and discretely placed artefact displays and features not easily found anywhere else. Everywhere, inside and outside, oozes with imaginative and palpable African atmosphere. Feelings of restful relaxation, contentment, and happiness quickly set in and a very comfortable "home away from home" feeling ensues. Notwithstanding the grand “Africaness” of it all, African Dream Catcher is nonetheless very very “cottagey”.
Romance is high on the atmosphere list as well. What an unforgettable setting for a proposal, honeymoon, anniversary, or just a romantic escape. We can host and help organize a very small and very unforgettable picture-perfect wedding either inside or outside.
INSIDE: African Dream Cather features extensive decorating using western cedar including a 28 foot high beamed cathedral ceiling in the Great Room; >60 feet (>20 meters) of side-by-side panoramic "floor to ceiling" windows overlooking the very close-by lake; two fireplaces & a wood stove; three-season porch with indoor barbecue; unbelievable African (safari lodge-type) Kontiki-Bar; spacious, exotically African, master bedroom with bamboo cathedral ceilings, 50 inch HDTV; an unbelievable "tropical ocean”– themed en-suite with deep claw-foot tub and walk-in three-head grohe shower; two balconies with amazing views of the lake and gardens below. All in all, a very tastefully specialized African décor with a huge "wow" factor ?.
OUTSIDE: The African Dream Catcher lake and waterfront are absolutely gorgeous. No steep descent; and just 30 feet (10 meters) away. Excellent swimming; docks, canoe, paddleboat, kayaks, etc. Beautiful perennial rock garden landscaping both in front and back.
