Bonjour!
Bienvenue dans notre maison. We are friendly available and will help you make the most of your stay here.
Are you looking for a real home ? We have thoroughly and tastefully refurbished our house; it is "very cosy" and "very spacious" and right IN the village "Everything is just two minutes away" ... and Paris so easily accessible.
You will enjoy walking to the boulangerie to buy your croissants and crisp baguettes, doing your shopping hassle free and talking to the local people ( and you may even have a lettuce on your doorstep !)
The house is quite suitable for winter holidays. (perfectly well heated) and great as well for summer holidays, as it remains cool in the heat: thick walls and old tiled floor.
THE LIVING-ROOM, overlooking the greenery of the secluded terrace will invite you to enjoy the wines from our regional vineyards.
THE KITCHEN has a dining/eating area and all brand new appliances.
THE BATHROOM is very large, it has a bath/shower over,, hand basin, WC and there is generous supply of linen.
THE 3 BEDROOMS are quite spacious too.
One double bedroom has a chest of drawers, mirror armchair and the adjoining mezzanine has a hanging rail for clothes.
TWO LARGE adjoining BEDROOMS each have a double bed, dressing table/writing desk, chair and one has a large wardrobe.
Comfortable ENTRANCE hall leading to the terrace
THE TERRACE at the back of the house is completely secluded and peaceful. Garden furniture and BBQ provided for relaxed evenings.
Our quiet house is located only 50 metres from the square, local shops and our very own castle of Selles sur Cher. Each Thursday there is the most exciting market of the area which offers wonderful fresh food products. Selles is famous for its AOC goat cheese available from the local Fromagerie and you will find delicious, inexpensive wines in the cellars of our local producers.
There is also a full range of restaurants from take-away to the gourmet you will not even need to cook.
IN Selles sur Cher you can of course go shopping, biking and walking along the banks of the river Cher which winds through our little town. And in summer you can also go swimming and pedal boating
NEARBY you can go riding, dancing(club) and experience the unparalleled French "guinguette" (cf Renoir) on the banks of river Cher.
Most of the major castles are quickly accessible :
CHENONCEAU The dainty ladies' one with its arched gallery over the water.
VALENCAY comedians in period costumes will reenact history.
CHEVERNY you will see the pack of hounds gobble up their dinner.
BLOIS with its secret door & cabinets.
AMBOISE Where François 1er & Leonardo da Vinci lived 3 Km apart.
CHAMBORD the most stately one with its 440 rooms & 365 chimneys.
Our region is an architectural delight
Bessides, most of our castles offer unexpected exhibitions, shows, or music festivals (international musicians).
We particularly recommend LEONARDO DA VINCI'S MANOR HOUSE and gardens in Amboise, where children will be thrilled to have a hand on the replicas of his fabulous machines. Your may like to visit one of these amazing troglodyte houses dus in the rock ...
THE AEROCLUB next to the town will welcome you for a private tour of the castles on a plane at the attractive price of 60€ half an hour for 3 people.
Selles sur Cher is locatd on a regional rail link with regular services to Tours(airport) Vierzon and Bourges. The house is a pleasant, easy 15 minute walk to the railway station.
From Charles de Gaulle airport in Roissy (Paris) the TGV train can take you to Tours in 1.30 hour.
And in order to make things easier for you, we can set up your car rental for you (from Tours, Blois etc) and send you the contract ; you will simply have to pick up your car.
Please do not hesitate to contact us.
Françoise and Serge thank you a lot for your interest.

Our stay was by en large very good. Our hosts Serge and Francoise were very helpful and made our stay very convenient. We were were 5 people travelling together. 2 adults and 3 teenagers(13-16 yrs) the house was perfect for us with large bedrooms upstears that worked as livingrooms for the children in the evenings. The teenagers found an open wireless network and this was indeed very attractive for them although it was quite slow. I would recommend Serge &Francoise to consider installing their own.. :-) The Village Selles-sur Cher is a very quiet but very cosy Village. The Fromagerie is very good and the lady behind the counter is very helpful. The market every thursday morning is also very good. Two "Boulangeries" ensures fresh croissants every morning apart from mondays, then they are both closed.. both Pizzerias made very good Pizza, also for take away. The river bank was perfect for a picnic and it was also possible to bathe in the river although i would recommend the "plage" i Montrichard if you like to go swimming in the river. The "Piscine" in the Village were open every day and we visited it several times(just remember that thet close for lunch from 1230-1500 and the boys must wear Speedo, no shorts accepted here.. :-) Selles-sur-Cher is also a very good base from where to explore the whole Loire Valley. The local Chevre were also very good and so are the local wines, especially the white wines. The only thing we missed was a little bit was a little garden spot in the backyard. And in the morning you must be prepared to be wakened by the morning workers at approximately 7 am driving right by your bedroomwindows. especially the trucks will wake you up if you sleep with the window open, but when they have passed you can fall back to sleep again.. :-)

We booked this property months in advance because of the location and idyllic description. We flew to Paris and took the train to Tours and drove to Selles sur Cher, arriving at 4:30 on Saturday. In fact, the town was very attractive. The house--actually not a separate house but part of a grey/brown block of houses-- was nondescript on a side street with no view of either the village, castle or river. The owner with whom I had corresponded was not there. She spoke English, but the person there, her husband, did not. Upon entering the front door both my wife and I immediately smelled the musty odor and felt the dampness. The rooms were dark because there was little outside light. The furniture was decrepit; the beds appeared to be mattresses and springs on the floor. The “secluded terrace” was in fact just big enough to turn around in and was really an enclosed walled area with vines and no view. My wife's first comment after looking at the interior was, "I am not sleeping here." We tried hotels in the region, but this was a religious holiday weekend, so all were full. We had to drive back to Tours to find a hotel. Eventually we secured an outstanding VBRO location in Amboise. After a long trip and high anticipation, I cannot describe our disappointment. The flowery description and photos did not resemble the bleak reality.

Our family of six recently enjoyed a wonderful visit to charming Selles-sur-Cher. The house is located in the center of town, walking distance from the river and shopping. It is very comfortable, with a fully equiped kitchen and spacious bedrooms. We enjoyed the short drives (30 minutes)to some spectacular châteaux. Our children enjoyed the playground by the river. It was the perfect place to wind down after a hectic tour through Europe.

This is a most delightful home away from home! Sparkling clean and so "French Charming", our "home" in the busy little village of Selles-sur-Cher had all the comforts we had hoped for. Francoise and Serge have decorated the home with cheerful colors and comfy furnishings. A couple of soft chairs where we could sit and put our road tired feet to rest awaited us at day's end, aahhhh... The busy weekly market was the typical large one with food, clothing, gadgets and gifts . There were several restaurants we could walk to in the evening and plenty of places to shop. Ample off-street parking is available. There are large super-markets in the area. Our hosts, Francoise and Serge, were wonderful! Francoise speaks English beautifully so, if there was ever any questions about the house or appliances, language is no barrier. They are anxious to please and will go out of their way to make sure your stay was all you had hoped for. We felt like we had known them forever and we cannot wait to go backl The bathroom is the greatest! There is an old fashioned bath- tub and soooo much room (unusual) ! Nice linens throughout. Our visit was in the early Fall of 2007. The timing was great because the hustle and bustle of Summer has passed and the tourists have mostly gone back home. The chateau country is beautiful and so near to Selles-sur-Cher. Day trips are so easy and it is possible to see a chateau in the morning, have a great gourmet lunch and "chateau" again in the afternoon! The vineyards are near and wine tasting is available almost everywhere! Selles-sur-Cher even has it's own cheese and is kind of famous! Go...enjoy the Loire Valley and make this home yours for a while. You will be so enchanted with it, your hosts, and the village of Selles-sur-Cher!

Loved this charming house! We found it very comfortable and cozy. The location is unbeatable, with the town square and river being very close by. Our two children loved the playground near the river and was a highlight for them after having our evening meal. We were treated to Bastille day fireworks the second night there. The town really put on a superb show!! The pastry and cheese shops were in close walking distance and the many chateau's a short drive away. Francios and Serge were very friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back again!

Wonderful stay in Selles-sur-Cher!! We stayed 4 weeks and loved every minute. We enjoyed our morning one minute walk to the boulangerie, fromagerie and even improved our French. Plenty of excellent fresh food (loved the dates and grapes)at the markets. It really is "in the village". Village people were very welcoming and friendly. We loved the trains and there is easy train travel to Tour Amboise with Chenonceau a quick 15-20 min. away. We also had a day trip to the coast from here. Francoise and Serge are excellent -they were most helpful and delightful hosts . Our time in Selles was very special. House was extremely comfortable -loved the old floor tiles and we certainly enjoyed the local wines and cheeses. We enjoyed wonderful walks along the canals and to nearby villages. If you are looking for an authentic French village this is it!!! Enjoy!!!!

This house is very large, comfortable and close to everything in town. The owners are very caring and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. As an artist, I enjoyed the proximity of the river and the many interesting buildings in the area. I would recommend this accomodation highly.

We LOVED our stay in this charming, spotless, conveniently located house. The delightful owners, Francoise & Serge have decorated and furnished it for maximum enjoyment and comfort. They were very warm and friendly and provided brochures of just everything to see and do. We walked to 1 of 3 wonderful boulangeries every morning for our fresh croissants! We also enjoyed walks along the Cher River and to the Market Place - everything just minutes away. The village is story-book French complete with ancient, stone church, chateau, great restaurants and cafes and so close to many beautiful places in the Loire Valley - our favorite chateau, Chenonceau within easy drive. We would definitely stay there again!
