Amazing location. Cuter than the pictures show. Like others have mentioned, a bit noisy, but for the location, not bad and the white noise machines help. Garage parking was great, never had to worry about the walk for the kiddos. My two kids loved, loved, loved the bunk beds as well as the chalkboard wall to draw on. That saved us while we waited out the rain to go to the Zoo. Perfectly located near everything. Service was above and beyond what I expected. So helpful, sent emails with tons of information about the area and quaint parks, etc. So amazing to get the "locals' take on it. Super friendly, helpful, prompt. Always showing concern that our stay was of high importance. Great people! Cannot say enough about the quality of people at Nancy's, including Nancy herself, that we communicated with during our stay. They really did make it feel like "our ocean house" for the week. Fred's has amazing food and we went there for lunch with the kiddos. Could be a great place to hang out in the evening without the kids. I would highly recommend this location or any other of Nancy's location. It was great! We went to the San Diego Zoo, Wildlife Park, Sea World and the beach. Nancy has everything all ready in the garage that you will need for the beach. The Zoo, sea world, and the beach are minutes away. Couldn't have asked for a better location and traveling with family, loved the garage parking!

It was my first US vacation with my mum (who always complains for something) and it turned out almost wonderful!! Ok, she complained for something that i ddon't remember, for the first 2 days, but then she started love it. I'm 20, and i found it amazing, there was everything we needed, and it was so close to the beach and to everything that i just wanted to stay more. There was a problem with the hairdryer, but as soon as i asked another one, it had been replaced with a new one. Exellent service. Loved it!

The apartment was nice with plenty of room for a family of four. The kitchen was stocked w/ enough dishes and cups, and the coffee maker and tea kettle was great to have. The location is great - lots of walking opportunities. However, I do have a few complaints: 1) the towels in the bathroom were all bleach-stained, as if they were used as bar towels 2) the place had silverfish, and 3) the heater fritzed out several times during our visit even after the repair man fixed it. The property mgr was apologetic when I pointed the stuff out to him and offered to get someone out to spray for the bugs (I declined - I have crawling infant) and he got a repair guy out the same day to fix the heater. Not the Four Seasons, but still an OK stay.
Owner response:The towels get bleach stains from Acne medicine. It's a big problem for us and we are constantly replacing towels. I had the property manager set off some insect bombs as soon as they left to take care of the silverfish. The heater is fairly new. The problem was with the thermostat and we replaced it with a new one. No it is not the Four Seasons, but for $139 a night for a two bedroom house, we believe it is a very good value for families.

The location was great and the apartment was clean and stocked. My only complaint was that some of the furniture was in poor condition (broken down), i.e. one of the couches, the bar stools and bed in master bedroom.
Owner response:We have been updating the furniture and beds in these 4 rentals as schedule permits and all 4 now have brand new sofabeds and we have replaced several of the queen mattresses with very nice ones so they are good to go now for summer!

I just want to thank everyone at Nancy's Vacation Rentals for a wonderful holiday. The apartment was so clean and comfortable and it felt like home right from the moment we stepped in the door. The location is perfect, on a pretty residential street so close to the beach, and Starbucks and Trader Joes are just an easy stroll away. We particularly loved having the beach cruiser bicycles available for our evening rides along the oceanfront. We made great use of them. It was our first trip to San Diego, but thanks to this perfect apartment, it won't be our last!

Our rental unit was great!!! Clean, homey and had everything we needed. Made good use of the beach chairs, sand toys and boogie boards. A real plus is having your own parking spot. Loved being 4 blocks from the beach, and 1 block from Trader Joe's, restaurants, and found a great used book store. You can't compare this to staying in a hotel.. because we had space for 2 very active boys (7&9)to play. We slept well too, the spill over noise during Easter Break was not a factor.

My family recently returned from our trip to see my son graduate from Marine Corp boot camp in San Diego. Nancy was a dream to work with and the apartment was everything we could have wanted. We were there during the crazy spring break time but the bar noise didn't bother us. The great windows and white noise machines kept the apartment nice and quiet. The kitchen was fully stocked with any thing I needed to use for cooking and the great markets in the area have any type of food you need. If you like Thai food there is a great Thai restaurant around the corner in between the convienience store and tanning salon, I can't remember the name but it was fantastic and authentic.

We very much enjoyed our visit to beautiful San Diego and our stay at 1175 Felspar St (Jessica's apt). The holiday apartment was well presented, equipped (my daughter and husband particularly appreciated the availability of bikes), and the location was just ideal, being so close to the beach and a great variety of shops and restaurants. Renting an apartment suited so well, as we like to take advantage of the good food ingredients available locally (especially from Trader Joe's) and our son who lives in San Diego was able to join us for some 'home cooking'! Having wireless access made it easy to book activities such as surfing, diving and whale watching.

Hi Folks,Just jotting a note to say thank you. Your vacation rental was very clean and homey (smelled good from the moment we walked in), in a good location, and the combination made our family stay very pleasurable. Noise wasn't really a problem, we all slept very well; the sheets in the master bedroom were extremely soft and the pillows were also great. We had plenty of room for 5 adults. And I have to add, though “my kids” are adults, we all enjoyed the large chalkboard in the living room. We felt it was our home. The garage was handy, added incidentals were convenient, as well as the grocery stores and restaurants nearby. Great walk to the beach. Our son ranked Ramones as one of the best fish taco stands! One suggestion: hooks on the backs of the doors for towels and robes, etc. And I'll add doing business with Jeremy was also a pleasant experience. 1173 Felspar, Dec. 27

Jason's place was great. Everything we needed was available, fully supplied kitchen supplies, grocery stores near by, the beach. The place is very clean. The only down fall is the noise at night, the Bars were wild and people hang out on the streets/sidewalk next to the apartments. Bring ear plugs and you will be fine. overall the place is cute and nice.

We needed a place to stay for our family when our son was returning from a deployment. We had never rented anything on line and were a little scared. But we were pleasantly surprised to see the unit. It was clean and very well stocked with kitchen utensils, towels, soaps, shampoo, etc. It was so centrally located we decided not to rent a car. Jeremy was very helpful finding the garage door opener and making us feel wellcome. We are planning a trip to Paris and will definately be checking out their Paris appartment. Thank you. Hi Folks, This comment comes from a first time renter of Jessica's 2 bedroom apartment on Felspar St. Let me put my summary first; Rent it, you won't be sorry. We rented the apt. for a week, 8 days and 7 nights from 19 thru 26 July 08. We is me, my wife, and our two grandchildren ages 12 and 14. The apt is large, CLEAN, and well stocked with pots, pans, towels, etc.. It is a little loud some nights due to the proximity of the bars but the double pane windows pretty well take care of it. The living room has two big couches and a recliner, and the kitchen 4 chairs, so seating was no problem. The permanent residents that live in the apts facing ours were very friendly. There is a well kept grassy area with 3 tables, chairs, candles in hurricane globes. Just pleasant in general. We spent several evenings sitting out and visiting. There is one of the best Mexican fast food places I have ever run across right behind the apt garages. Ramone's even wound up as breakfast one morning. The smells wafting out of there will lure you. We try to use public transportation when we can and the apt is 1/2 block from the Metro route. $5 per person for unlimited daily rides on buses, trolleys, and light rail. It was very easy to get to Sea World, the harbor, downtown. 4 blocks to the beach is pretty cool because you are walking through a nice neighborhood. I would recommend Nancy's to my friends. Thanks also to Jackie for making the process of renting, getting keys, etc., as easy as possible.

I have 3 sons 20,17, & 13 and we loved the placed. It was bit noisy, but it didn't bother us. It was nice having the bikes, boogie boards, umbrella and chairs in the garage. We used them all week long. All we had to bring was clothes and our toothbrush. Plenty of places to eat and buy groceries within walking or biking distance. We will come back to Felspar apts or maybe try the Felspar house next time we come to San Diego. It was nice meeting you Nancy and thanks for the great place to stay.

Our five-person family stayed at one of the 2-bedroom Felspar apartments the week of July 4th, and had a terrific time! The apartment was clean and very convenient to all that San Diego has to offer. It did get a little noisy at night, due to the neighboring bar district, but it's only about 4 blocks from the beach, which made daily beach walks very easy to do. A little noise was worth the beach convenience! Bikes and beach towells, etc. were also provided. The staff at Nancy's was great to work with. They provided helpful up-front information and prompt service. We highly recommend this property! Thanks Jackie and Nancy! The Schulte Family - Eaton,Colorado

My husband, 3 kids (13 year-old, 6 year-old and 1 year-old) and myself stayed in Jason's apartment for 3 nights and we loved it! The apartment had mostly everything that we would've needed PLUS MORE!! The beach toys and bikes were a plus - my kids loved them!! The 10 minute walk to the beach was more than worth the price of the 2-bdrm apartment!! The bar scene did present some noise, but nothing too annoying. Our GMC Envoy (7 passenger SUV) did fit in the garage with some arranging of the bikes. Great location, nice price, AWESOME STAY! THANKS Nancy!!

We stayed in Jessica's Apartment at the Felspar property for two weeks. It was clean, comfortable, well equipped and a wonderful home away from home. There is bar noise, but it was not an issue for us, as it dies down after the bars close, and can be easily masked with the white noise if it gets bothersome. We made use of the beach chairs and umbrella several times and two of the bicycles one afternoon. There was no issue for us with availability of those generous amenities. We appreciated that the unit was so well stocked with soaps, shampoo, laundry soap, beach towels, beach bag, etc. We will definitely recommend Nancy's rentals to our friends and look forward to returning soon.

I was a bit hesitant to rent a property over the internet, but our 3 night stay in Brian's apartment was a very positive experience! It is in a great location to walk to the beach in 10 minutes and we could walk to Starbucks, grocery stores, or estaurants within just a few minutes, so we didn't have to fight with the parking issue. It did get noisy at night due to the surrounding businesses, but that would not stop us from staying there again when visiting San Diego. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed for the beach, which meant less packing for us! I would suggest replacing the sofa bed in the living room due to sagging. And make sure it is clearly stated that Brian's apartment is on the 2nd floor. That was not a problem for us, but could be for others. Overall, everything was great and we would rent from Nancy again at this location or others.

Our family stayed in Jason's apartment for 5 days and we had a great time. We enjoyed being close to everything (restaurants, stores, beach). We arrived on a Friday night so yes it was party time around the neighborhood but it reminded me of when I was young as well . I never felt unsafe at anytime and we could take naps during the day. As for the apartment, it was very comfortable, clean and everything we needed was provided (even the beach towels:) We will definitely come back. The great rate makes it so possible for us to take our family on a very nice vacation. Thanks Nancy!

We stayed at 1173 Felspar and it was as described in the ad. Neat, clean and well equipped. A little noisy on Sat and Sun nights (as expected, we were probably noisy to)! But it was worth the noise to be that close to the beach. The only real problem we had was with the bicycles we were there 4 days and got to use 2 of them once. I know they were free thats why I say it was a problem not a complaint. Our daughter lives further up on Felspar and we would absolutly rent again
Owner response:I have 8 beach cruiser bicycles for the 4 units, available on a first come first serve basis. I don't have room for any more than 8 bikes, sorry! Also, I have white-noise machines next to every bed so you can sleep soundly when the bars let out at 2 AM and the people are walking back to their cars parked in the nearby residential neighborhoods. I have 26 units and 21 of them are in very quiet neighborhoods. That's why these are so inexpensively priced! It's your choice. On the positive side, you can walk to everything from these Felspar apartments since it's one block off the main street of Pacific Beach.

At short notice, the ever helpful and friendly Nancy, arranged for my stay at Jeremy's. It was a clean and well equipped place that i was really at home with. The area was as expected of a beach community, and friendly. There was some noise from happy bar goers on their way home, but this was transient and i had no sleepless nights with it. I would happily recommend this appartment - a real home from home.

We stayed in the Jeremy apartment the week of April 13th. We have 4 children. The place was very clean, neat and had all the amenities that was promised. We loved the fact that we had Internet access, Cable TV and a DVD player with plenty of seating. We didn't read the faq about the location before we left and were a bit hesitant when we first arrived because of the location near the taverns but it really wasn't too bad. Yes, we could hear the people and music from the nearby facilities and people walking to and from their cars but for the most part it didn't bother us. We felt safe being outside with our children and really enjoyed the fenced in yard. My biggest complaint was the parking issue. We drive a Suburban and it wouldn't quite fit in the garage because of a dresser that was being stored in there. (If the dresser wasn't there I could have barely squeezed in there.) So we had to find parking every time we came back to the apartment. Because of the prime location of the apartment people were always parking all along the front of the apartment and on the side. Definately a happening area! Eventually, I could find a spot but it was definately a huge pain for us especially when we returned around 10 pm and the area was teaming with cars and people. Our kids were asleep and we had no where to park. However, as I mentioned, they do provide a garage and if I had a smaller vehicle I would have had no problems. We probably could have been better prepared for this situation if we were familiar with the area. Aside from the parking headaches, we really enjoyed our stay and would rent from these people again. I may not rent the Jeremy place again because of the location and parking issues but I wouldn't hesitate to rent another location from these people again.
Owner response:I have removed the dresser but I doubt that a Suburban (one of the largest SUVs made)would have fit anyway. It's in the FAQs that over-sized vehicles will not fit in the garages. My Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo fits if everyone gets out before I pull in. My brother's 4-door GMC truck does not fit. Parking in the beach areas is always tough and property is very expensive so garages typically are not large. I will measure the garages and put the measurements in the FAQs. Nancy

Here's the first thing one should know about dealing with Nancy and Jackie, they are the absolute tops! I wish I received this kind of service everywhere I went. I have stayed at the Felspar units twice. Both times my stay was perfect. Proximity to the beach is fantastic, and a secure place to park your rental car is quite convenient. The accommodations themselves are VERY clean and comfortable. By far the best value in all of San Diego not to mention Pacific Beach. I'll be back!

We stayed at Jason's during our conference visit early in Nov 2007. It was bright and tidy, safe and spacious, quiet at night. A guest book showed us the nearest shops and restaurants. What also great was that we could make our own sandwiches and didn't have to queue in the convention centre. We have enjoyed our beach ride at dawn, jog at dusk as our holiday part. More importantly, we worked more productively than ever. It is not only great for vocation but for business travellers as well. Thank you.

My family and I stayed in your Jeremy apartment and enjoyed it very much. My children really enjoyed the black board that you have on the wall in the family room. They sent every night playing school. The apartment is located in a great area with grocery stores and other conveniences just steps away. It was very nice being only a few blocks away from the beach and short drives to the other parks in the area when you have kids. The only drawback to the place is that on the weekends it is a bit loud with the bars just a block away. We would definitely rent again and would suggest it to family and friends.

We and our kids (2 and 4) stayed in Jeremy's apartment for 7 days in late July/early August. Having read the information about the location, we knew to expect some noise, but found overall that it wasn't bothersome. Being in the end unit was nice, as we could open lots of windows for fresh air. We made good use of the white noise machines (we want some for our own house now). At first we weren't sure how family-friendly the neighborhood was, but once we found that Sail Bay and the Fanuel Street play park was so close, we walked there every afternoon. Lots more families with little kids there than at Pacific Beach itself, so we felt right at home, and the boys could wade in the shallow water safely. I will say it took a while to find a restaurant that worked equally well for all 4 of us, then on our last night we went to Filippi's Pizza Grotto. The food was good, and they treated us really well, clearly used to having families come in. When we're in San Diego we like to go all over - Coronado, Balboa Park, La Jolla for the Birch Aquarium. The Pacific Beach location couldn't have been more central and convenient. Having a comfy place to stay, where we could cook meals and relax, and feel at home, made it so easy for us all. And when our kids made noise, nobody minded because everybody was a little noisy. Great stay, thanks so much.

Obviously I'll make the first negative comment here, however, our stay at Jessica's apt. for a week in July was no pleasure at all. Mostly due to the terrible noise there was around the place all night long. Starting with two bars on the left and right ending with young neighbours partying in their apts on either side or returning noisily home in the early morning and shouting in front of our bedroom window. After complaining it was quiet for a few hours only - then it started all over again. Sleeping with closed windows and no airconditioning during summer nights is no fun. Sorry, but it really spoiled it all for us and we definitely won't come back or recommend the place to anybody, except party people.
Owner response:Ilse is correct, this apartment complex is just one block back from the main street of Pacific Beach. There are bars and nightclubs in this beach neighborhood which are very popular with the college and young professional crowds and you CAN hear the music and the people talking and laughing while walking to their cars, which they park in the surrounding residential streets, when the bars close at 2 AM. (All this is disclosed in the FAQs for this 4-plex on my website at nancysvacationrentals). I have provided expensive white-noise machines in each bedroom and fans in each room so, if you are asleep, it does not usually wake you up and, as you can see, it is not a problem for 99% of my guests who are looking for a less expensive rental for their family vacation. On this particular night, Else called me at 11 PM and told me her next door neighbors were having a party. I don't allow any parties, as per the rental agreement, so I immediately went over there and found my 4 Irish college girl tenants were indeed having a party, (although they called it "a BBQ with their friends who stayed on"). They were not playing any music and they were not being disruptive or disorderly, just sitting around talking and drinking, but rules are rules and it was 11:10 at night so I asked everyone to leave. The 4 Irish girls renting "Jessica's" two bedroom apt were really apologetic and said it would absolutely never happen again if I would not kick them out. They are actually very nice girls who are renting from me for the entire summer and I let them stay and have not had, nor do I anticipate having, any more problems with them. All 16 of my other rentals are in very quiet upscale neighborhoods (with the possible exception of the Jersey Court Duplex, which is also located in an area right on the beach that is popular with the college crowd but the bars are not as close-by). However, all the other rentals are $500 to $1000 a week more expensive than this "budget-priced" 4-plex on Felspar St. I always recommend that everyone read the FAQs and anyone who is seeking a quiet, peaceful beach vacation is told to rent one of my other more upscale rentals in a quieter neighborhood. Everyone has that choice.

We stayed at the condo on Law street. It was so wonderful. It was only a five minute (if that) walk down to the beach. We had our own patio, plus shared the courtyard with the other condo. A definite plus to have a garage to park in. Its really hard to find a parking place on Pacific beach. So much is within walking distance. Grocery store is about a 15-20 minute walk, Crystal pier with its shopping and resturants is also about 15 minutes. The condo is nicely furnished. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. Kitchen is stocked well with cookware, utentsil, etc. Nice big frig. Would highly recommend Nancy agency to anyone! And we will definitely will use her again! Going to the east coast next year....and sure wish she had some out there :)

Very nice and friendly place. Everything you need for a week-end, or even a longer stay (we stayed 6 weeks!). Very kids- and baby-friendly with lots of extra baby stuff! So much more convenient then a hotel. And you can't beat the location!

We stayed at Brian's apartment for 5 days. What a treat! The location was perfect - close to shopping and the beach. Although there was noise from the bars, once the double paned windows were closed, and the white noise machine turned on (available in all 3 bedrooms), I really couldn't hear the noise at all. The beds were perfect - very comfortable. It did indeed feel like our home away from home. Nancy and her assistant Jackie were most helpful; any contact or call was immediately answered. We also appreciated all the extras provided: beach towels, boogie boards, beach chairs, internet connection, and so on. We will definitely plan to stay here again next time we are in town!

One of the nicest vacation experiences I've had in some time. Not quite sure why anybody would spend a week in a hotel when something like this is available. Appreciated the fact that while feeling very 'homey' I didn't feel like I was staying at a friends, moms, bosses house. It felt like 'our' place. As mentioned in other comments, there was indeed some bar noise, but that only goes until around 2am, so no big deal. Our group ended up being a slight nuisance the last day - were tardy getting out in time (cleaning crew had to reschedule), and on top of that, we ended up bringing the garage door opener back to portland!! Nancy (and Jackie!) were both very gracious and understanding, never making us feel bad. I would definitely reccomend this place, and would not hesitate to use Nancy's services again should I need a place to stay down there. Thanks!!

Our family (adults + 3 kids) stayed in Jeremy's apt during Spring Break, 4/11-15. Making the arrangements and receiving the key in advance was smooth. Accomodations were as promised: clean with all the comforts of home. Highlights: private garage, convenient locale near lots of restaurants/grocery, walking distance to beach, beach supplies, patio courtyard, blackboard in apt. Things to be aware of: this location (and nearby beach) is not extremely family oriented as it is near the main drag with bars that can be very loud/rowdy at times (especially given college Spring Break crowds); travel from I-5 can be fairly slow due to heavy traffic/slow lights. All in all, however, those things were a minor nuisance. This is a great place to stay and a VERY GOOD VALUE.

Nancy, We were able to stay in Brian's condo the week of April 7 to 14. It was a wonderful experience. There were 6 adults and we were comfortable. It was reasonably priced. We loved coming back to a home and not just a hotel room. The kitchen was fully stocked and we utilized the beach stuff. There was only one negative thing it was a bit noisy some nights because of the bars around the area but we were so tired after busy days that it wasn't bad at all. When we return to San Diego we will try to stay in one of our condos again.

We stayed at Brian’s apartment. My family loved the apartment and Nancy’s hospitality. The apartment is spacious, clean, well equipped and maintained. It also has a good location. Next time that we are back in San Diego, definitely we’ll stayed at one of Nancy’s rental properties. We had a wonderful time.

We stayed the month of February in the corner 2BR unit (Jeremy’s). It was sunny and bright, and everything we needed was provided, even electronic white noise units to sleep by. Trader Joe's, a block from the unit, was a favorite place for groceries. A few blocks west on Garnet was Limonz, a fresh, new Mexican eatery. Crystal Pier, which we will never tire of, was just a short four blocks down the street. The lawn area was not kept up as well as we would have liked (dirty tables, unusable grill), but these were minor things, and if we had asked Nancy about it, I’m quite certain she would have made sure these things were corrected. This unit had plumbing problems, but when we contacted Nancy directly, she had a plumber out the next day. She is very responsive, even when she is travelling out of the area. She was the first to point out that the units, although newly remodeled, are old and have some quirks in the plumbing and electrical. You learn quickly which things can’t be plugged in simultaneously, and then it’s not a problem. We found her rates comparable to other furnished apts in the area. She is a very gracious, flexible, fair person to do business with, which is of utmost importance when renting sight unseen. Her pictures and description of her Felspar apartments underestimate them. We found many unexpected pleasant extra features. Unless you MUST have an ocean view, we found this location unbeatable.

Our family stayed at Brian's apartment for a week. It was very clean and perfect for our family of six- childrens ages 14,12,10 and 7. It was so nice to be able to come "home" at the end of the day instead of going to a hotel. The kitchen was fully equipped so we could eat breafast before leaving for the day and make lunches to take with us. We did not have to eat out every meal so it saved us a lot of money. The area is beautiful and there is a lot to do. We took two day trips out of San Diego and went to the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in Borrego Springs. It is about an hour and 45 minutes outside of San Diego but really worth the trip. We went on a desert hike and saw desert big horn sheep and a natural oasis--palm trees and a pool of water right in the middle of the desert, very neat!!! We also went to Disneyland which is about an hour and a half away. Everything else was very close. We went to Old Town for great Mexican food and shopping, to Point Loma/Cabrillo National Monument, San Diego Wild Animal Park, Sea World, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, and Belmont Park. There are great restaurants and shopping very close by. If we go back to San Diego we will definitley stay at one of Nancy's places, she is great to work with and will answer any of your questions prior to your visit.

We had the pleasure of staying in "Jason's Apartment" in Pacific Beach, off Felspar & Garnet, during March 2007, and had a wonderful time. Nancy & Jackie under-promise and over-deliver! The unit was clean, spacious, tastefully appointed, and just perfect for our needs. We only stayed for a week, but wish we could have stayed longer. The neighborhood is wonderful, with Henry's (a local organic foods market), Trader Joe's, restaurants, galleries, shops, salons, etc all within a minute or two, plus the sands of Pacific Beach & Crystal Pier are a short walk away. We would highly recommend this spot for any travelers, and commend Nancy for her professionalism & courtesy! Respectfully, - Amanda & Angelo ===================================

We unfortunately had to cancel our reservations that we had for two months in this condo but were fully refunded all our money -- very cheerfully and promptly by Nancy I might add. No hassles whatsover, which was really nice. We hope to rebook at a later date and will defintely consider this property.
