Great, cozy house

We rented this house while in transition from selling our house/buying a new one. The landlord was extremely flexible and understanding - he was very patient with us, as our schedule changed a few times. The house is very clean and well-maintained. There is a fantastic patio and backyard for summer/springtime. The house is within walking distance to a nice shopping/eating area, as well as a grocery store and Walgreens. The house is in a quiet, diverse neighborhood - we stayed there for three weeks and did not have any problems. In fact we never saw or heard any of the neighbors. We were able to use the internet (dial up only though) using our own internet account. The house is a couple miles from downtown, but by a major street going into the city. Overall, this is a great place to stay, especially if you're looking for a more comfortable, house-like setting vs. hotel.

My wife and I stayed here with another couple for a long weekend recently. I am so happy we didn't get a hotel and chose this house. Much nicer than a hotel room for relaxing, etc. The house is very nice and clean and everything and the owner was extremely nice and helpful (he sent some earrings my wife had forgotten after we left). I would highly recommend this rental to a friend. The only downside is that the house lacks air conditioning. This isn't a huge deal though, given that you are in Denver and it gets plenty cool at night. We had the windows open and slept well. It's a very minor issue. If you are coming to Denver, rent this house!
Owner response:It is wonderful to have guests from all over the world share my house in Denver. Providing comfortable and relaxing accommodations gives me great satisfaction. By conincidence, I was exploring adding air conditioning just before the arrival of these guests. Usually, it is quite comfortable, even in summer. The place has a powerful whole-house fan that cools things rapidly. If and when I make this change to the house to add air conditioning, however, I will update my description.

Everything presented on the website including the rave reviews are true. I chose this uniquely comfortable home for comfort, ease and location. This was a business trip. I learned how to drive in the snow, piece of cake, snowed every day, and the owner kindly kept the driveway shoveled. This area was beautiful with snow dusted homes and trees. After working 11 hours a day it was an ultimate pleasure to return to this warm and wonderful home. Great Thai restaurant down the road. Planning to return in a few months, alas, for business not vacation.
Owner response:This traveler was a pleasure to host. Her work in Denver was fascinating to discuss, and she is a person I am most happy to have as an acquintance. I look forward to hosting her in the future. A part of the reason for sharing my property with guests from all over the country and the world is meeting intrepid travelers who bring their business, interests, and curiosity to my place in Denver. Many happy returns.

I would recommend this sweet little home to anyone...and I will, actually! I am looking at moving to the area & have friends and family that will visit and need a place to stay. I was SUPER impressed with the fact that I got a personal tour of the home upon arrival. Every details as to how to "use the home" was explained and thought about. We stayed for 5 days and the longer I stayed, the more I realized the care that went into making this a comfortable home. It has everything that a home should have...a washer and dryer, tv,cable, internet, coffee pot (big AND small), coffee, spices, suger, extra blankets, electric blankets, towls, wash cloths, soaps, medicine...seriously...EVERYTHING!! I just love the care that went into making sure our stay was comfortable. After the first day, it really did feel like "home" & I would recommend anyone who needs a great place to stay- to rent this precious home!

We came to Denver to meet our first grandson and since our children were in the process of moving to their new home, we needed a reasonable place to stay for eight days while we helped the kids move and bond with our new family member. Strayer Place was the best choice of any where we needed to be near for our stay. It is a cozy, warm and well equiped home. We would recommend it to anyone who needs a home away from home while being in Denver. It is located near anything anyone would need and quick access to any of the main streets to get you anywhere you may need to go. We enjoyed our visit and would rent it again if the need arises. The owner is very amicable and very thoughtful.

My family and I needed a comfortable place to stay while my Dad received medical treatments. I am so glad I found this listing! The owner/manager was a dream to work with and we were so pleased when we got to the house! It was clean, neat, very comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. Previously, we stayed at a local hotel for these treatments and the difference of my parents' comfort level was drastic. It was so homey, we just moved right in! The neighborhood was quiet and we had easy access/routes for all our appointments. I would love to stay again in warmer weather to enjoy the covered patio and the back yard. I am confident and happy to recommend this property.

I stayed in this house for a week and a half. It listed internet access, but I was not able to connect because I didn't have an AOL account. I was quoted a price to stay extra days, but when it came time to pay he charged me more. I finally got him to honor our agreement after contacting him, but he did not do it willingly. The neighborhood was not as nice, it was horrible. After leaving I was told that told that he would not rent to me again because the house had not been swept and the dishes had not been done. I guess he wants a spotless house when you leave. I did not damage any of his property and did not appreciate the way I was treated.
Owner response:The Homeaway Renters FAQs clearly state: "At minimum, rentals are to be left tidy." This direction was far from understood or met. To protect the property and the impression on the neighborhood, they were asked not to return. Documentation on request. The neighborhood is diverse as is all of Denver. My rates are reasonable as am I in all things financial. They asked for reductions from the start, but were granted a reduced rate owing to the need for departure flexibility. Enough said.
