    Our vacation at the luxury castle was amazing. From the moment we landed at the airport our driver, recommended to us by Sam and Roxie, was waiting for us. The short 30 minute drive to Atenas was filled with wonderful views of Costa Rica. Upon arriving at the house we were greeted warmly by Sam and Roxie. From the moment you walk in and see the view you realize the property is more incredible than the pictures portray. The home was better than advertised. It was clean and well maintained. The security features were a plus and very easy to use. The washer and dryer were a huge asset during the week. We had 4 adults staying at the property and there was plenty of room to lounge inside and outside. All of the appliances were clean and made it very easy to prepare meals during the week. Sam and Roxie were excellent resources to us during our stay. They provided a book with a lot of helpful information on Atenas and nearby attractions. They live in a guesthouse on the property and are always around if you need them but you never see them during the week which was a huge plus. Sam and Roxie know everything there is to know about Atenas and Costa Rica. They recommended an excellent driver for us during our stay and a host of good restaurants to try in Atenas. Atenas is a wonderful town. It is an easy 25 minute walk into the heart of the town with plenty of beautiful views of volcanos and countryside. I wouldn't recommend walking back to the house as it is mostly uphill. A cab ride is only $3-$4. The town is incredibly safe and filled with very friendly Ticos. You can walk around freely to different restaurants and stores. The grocery store has everything you need to make meals at home. Everything in Atenas is great like the food, the locals, and the scenery. However, the best part about your stay will be the luxury castle. I highly recommend the luxury castle to anyone going on vacation. The house exceeds any expectations you could possibly have and will be the best vacation decision you ever make!

    This was the first time we went south and rented a house for vacation, we found the whole trip to be an excellent experience. The luxury castle lived up to our expectations and our hosts Sam and Roxanne went out of their way to make our holiday as relaxing as possible. They sent us in the right direction as far as what was the best for sightseeing and helped us in recommending a couple of nice restaurants for eats, Fays for breakfast and Alidas an Italian eatery for dinner, both we're great. The luxury castle itself was well maintained and comfortable not forgetting the views from the pool side, every day there was a treat. We had taken a couple of friends with us on this vacation and luckily we were able to share this experience with someone else.

    My husband and I stayed at the Luxury Castle and were treated like a King and Queen. The owners met us and personaly gave us a detail tour of the house, explaining everything. They then provided us with a binder they had made up of important information. It had all kinds of things to do and places to see. It provided website info, contact numbers and much more! This Luxury Castle is 5 stars all the way!

    My husband and I stayed at the Luxury Castle and we were treated like a King and Queen. The owners gave us a detailed tour of the house and explained everything. They then provided us with a binder they had made up of important info. It contained things to do and contact info plus much more. The pictures on the website are great but they honestly do not even do it justice! It is something you have to see in person. This place is 5 stars all the way!

    Pictures do not do the Luxury Castle justice! It is breath taking! Nothing better than waking up to that view by the chirping birds each morning. The bed is like sleeping on a cloud. First thing we did when we returned home was order a new bed as there was no way we could down grade to the bed we have after being there. The kitchen is fully equipt was everything needed for us to try cooking some great meals. At home we never have time for this and it becomes work but on vacation we enjoy preparing a great meal...especially in this enviroment. We recommend the Luxury Castle to whoever wants to stay at an incredible house in the Atenas area!

    I have never written a review before but felt obligated to do so after staying at the Luxury Castle! Our vaction went smoothly thanks to Sam and Roxanne. They met us when we arrived and brought us to the house. The house is amazing! The picures and the slide show on their website are great but are unable to capture the true beauty you see in person! The house was spotless when we arrived and the beds are like sleeping on a cloud. Waking up every morning to the birds singing and the georgeous views was so relaxing. We returned from our vacation totally refreshed and are already looking at dates to return again. We have never vacationed in the same place twice but can not imagine finding anything as good as this.

    The Luxury Castle is amazing ... this house has it all! The house is so much nicer than the pictures. It was clean and very modern. The sliding glass doors opened up to the infinity pool and the fantastic view of the mountains. It definitely exceeded my expectations and I am a very meticulous person. The owners, Sam and Roxie, are wonderful people; they are the perfect hosts! They are so organized and very thorough ... service at its best. They met us in town and took us back to the house. At the house, they showed us how everything works, i.e., the oven, the doors, the alarm system, and the binder. In the binder, you will find emergency contacts, activities, and places to eat. All the restaurants that they recommended were very good. During our stay, we experienced a flat tire and emailed Sam to find out where we can take our rental. Instead of answering back by email, he came over to assess the situation and told us where to go. Now how’s that for prompt customer service! We were very much impressed. We would definitely stay here again if we make it back to Costa Rica. In fact, I am recommending the Luxury Castle to one of our vendors.

    This place was great -- Sam and Roxie were great hosts, offering lots of advice on local area and always nearby for questions. They met us in Atenas and delivered us right to the house. The house and pool are beautiful -- the pictures don't do it justice. The views are incredible. Coffee by the pool each morning lingered on and on. The location is convenient - only an hour to the Pacific Coast (stop at Outback Jack's on the way) where there are ziplines, parks, etc. Atenas is a nice town with an open market, some good restaurants - Alida's and LaTrilla - and friendly people. We had 3 couples staying in the house and there was plenty of room to cook, eat and relax. We would highly recommend this property. We hope to be back ourselves.

    We stayed in the villa Thanksgiving week 2011 and we had an amazing time. The villa was beautiful and was even more spectacular than shown in the pictures with attention to detail throughout. We spent alot of time at the villa simply looking out at the constantly changing views across the valley. Neither of us were particularly avid bird watchers before coming here but we found ourselves discussing the birds and wanting to find out more about them, seeing new birds depending on the time of day. Sam and Roxie were very helpful and were always there if we needed them. I would highly recommend using the drivers suggested by Sam and Roxie. They were very professional and we were able to plan great days out which would be built around our schedule unlike some of the large tours we noticed at some places. The La Paz Waterfall Gardens and the ziplining at Jaco Beach are two things you have to do when you are here. Sam and Roxie recommended some restaurants in town and the pizza place was particularly good and we visited here twice. We would highly recommend this to friends and family and we will definitely look to return here at some point.

    Everything was perfect! The house is very clean, new and well maintained. We were so impressed! It is all that it claims to be and more. The house has everything you would need. The floor plan is very creative. The owners were extremely helpful and courteous. They gave us great tips on restaurants, activities and directions. Everything they said was right on. I would definitely recommend the house to anyone. I want to go back!!

The house is immaculate in every sense of the word, from pristine landscaping to a crystal clear infinity pool that overlooks a beautiful valley that is illuminated in the evening. Perfectly situated just on the outskirts of the quaint, picturesque town of Atenas. The house is equipped with a binder full of suggestions of places to eat, (we tried 2, superb) and things to see and do, including phone #'s and a map for convenience. Centrally located for easy access to the East or West coast of Costa Rica. The drive to the airport was a breeze, 25 minutes, tops. The proprietors, Sam and Roxanne, are available at any time, for any thing. The house also has a large flat screen t.v. with satellite access should you have to get your "fix" while vacationing!     Our time at the Castle exceeded our expectations!! More beautiful than the pics, and they were really great pics. House was clean and all the beds are very comfortable. The landscaping on the property is perfect- like a home in a magazine. Plants and flowers everywhere with a butterfly garden and a daily show from the hummingbirds. The view is breathtaking and ever changing. This property is centrally located and the town and the people are warm and friendly. Don't miss our favorite restaurant Alita's, it was the treat of the week for Italian food. Sam & Roxie will give you all the information and direction. Poas Volcano & the zoo are a must. Don't sit on the fence for this property, you will be totally satisfied.

    What a terrific house! Spacious and comfortable, this rental house was the perfect place to stay on our honeymoon and Atenas is the most charming town I can imagine. Not only are the people in Atenas friendly, but the town is perfectly located in the mountains between the beach and the city (San Jose). The owners of the house were very helpful long before we even left home. They made sure the house was in good condition before our arrival. The house is large and the pool was fantastic. We had a blast hanging out at the house, looking out at tThe house had plenty of necessities like towels, glasses, and basic cookware. We will definitely be back.he view.

    My wife and I had the time of our lives! Sam and Roxy did a fantastic job on this house. We could have stayed forever. In addition, Sam and Roxy were a great help to us not only as it relates to the house and all it's features but they also helped with tours, attractions and the best restaurants in the area. We plan to visit again next year to fininsh what we started. If you are planning a trip to Costa Rica, you will definitely want to stay at this location. We were very impressed and could not have anticipated being as comfortable as we were away from home. Believe us!! If you stay here, you won't be disappointed.

    It is the 2nd time we come in this area and this house was more than what we wished for. It has a lot of features, it is clean and luxurious and if I have to pick only one thing to say in this review, it would be very hard. It has the best view, especially in the morning, watching the sunrise while still in bed and hearing all the birds competing for "air-time". We felt safe, we felt pampered, we loved it! The owners have done a great job, being always discretely there for us, answering all our questions, even the ones not asked. Thank you Sam and Roxy for offering us this chance and yes, we have already recommended your house to all our friends and family.

    The view is spectacular. The pool is awesome. The house provides all the necessities and more in a first class relaxing atmosphere. The landscape compliments the Luxurious Castle. The property owners were very willing to give suggestions of places to see and eat as well as keeping the space clean and ready for their guest. Athenas is a great town with lots to see and do in a very authentic Costa Rician way. The ocean is less than an hour away but with the pool who cares. If you need sand between your toes it is accessible. Tours of interesting places like Arenal Volcano, Poas, Butterfly Gardens and Rainforests are easily set up with a local taxi service with excellent rates and English speaking guides.     This is the place to be in Costa Rica! Private home with beautiful view and central location. Close to the new highway to go to the ocean but located in the more comfortable mountain climate. Walk to the town of Atenas or by jungle reserve...it is all right there. The hosts are very helpful and accommodating. Good places to eat, groceries, entertainment, airport, buses, ocean...all close by.

    This home was even better than the pictures! It is quiet and peaceful and Sam and Roxanne were always available if we needed anything or had any questions. They provided recommendations for places to visit and restaurants that were very helpful. The inside was clean, the beds were comfy and the grounds were beautiful. We loved sitting on the back patio in the morning, watching and listening to the birds! We even spotted the toucan a few times!! The home is very close to Atenas and easy to get to. Overall, it was a great experience! Thanks, Sam and Roxanne, for the hospitality!!

    This is our 2nd time to Costa Rica.. the first being an all-inclusive beach resort. There is no comparison ... to see the real Costa Rica, it's country side, it's people (very friendly), it's traditions and it's adventures... you have to stay at the"Castle". From the efficient reservation service to the great directions... we knew we were dealing with a quality vacation experience provider and had the trip of a lifetime. Sam&Rox were so courtious and their vacation property is out of this world... brand new and gorgeous... the pool, the view... the district. Atenas is a great place to explore .. it's restaurants, it's shops, it's people and it's services. We were given recommendations for various excursion and we were quite pleased to be sent on those that our hosts had been on themselves.. so no surprises or scams. We did decline the white water rafting as we are not quite that adventurous. There is nothing like sipping cool ones in that Infinity pool ... the whole world looks like it's at your doorstep. One week was just not enough ... the Castle beckons us again for next year and this time we'll be bringing friends to enjoy the experience of a lifetime again.

    This is a lovely home just outside of town with a gorgeous view, nice pool, quiet neighborhood -- in short, all we wanted! The owners recommended an excellent taxi driver who took us all over town where we found the people to be friendly, helpful, and welcoming. I recommend Atenas in general as a great place to visit the real Costa Rica without the hype and activity of the resorts, but also close enough to some great places to visit so you can take day trips and "come home." I recommend this highly for anyone seeking a relaxing, quiet vacation in the "country" but still be in civilization. I would definitely stay here again!

    After a hectic day traveling,we were met by Sam and Roxie and they led us into our home for two weeks... They were gracious and had refresh-ments waiting. We have had an encredible stay,the house was more than comfortable...we also were able to come and go without worries about our belongings... Would recomend to all who want to be in a serene place to stay that is central to most cities ... Thanks again for sharing your home...

    From the first e-mail we sent to the checking out process, this was one of the best vacations that I have taken! The owners were speedy with their responses and answered any and all questions that I had. The house was clean and had everything that we needed. The views from this house are amazing! You can just sit and stare at them for hours. The pool was extremely clean, and provided us with a great to cool. The town of Atenas is wonderful. The people are friendly and the food is fantastic. The restaurants are all very different in atmosphere, but the staff was always friendly, and since we were on vacation we ate out almost every night and we didn’t break the bank! The price of food in the restaurants is very reasonable! We were very close to many attractions that Costa Rica has to offer. We took a day trip to the Arenal Volcano, a day trip to the beach, a day trip to zip line in the rain forest, a day trip to a waterfall/botanical garden, and a day trip white water rafting! It is a great spot to use as a home base. I would recommend this spot to anyone who is thinking about visiting Costa Rica. If you are looking for the adventure type vacation it is the perfect central location to see all of the main attractions, and if you are looking to just rest and relax this would be the perfect spot to do that too. It is quiet and tranquil. I know that I will be visiting it again sometime soon!

    Yes this is the 4th time we have stayed at the exact same location. Why? Because it is perfect! The service, the view, the pool and the location are all 5 stars. We have been going to Costa Rica for years and used to try a new location everytime. But now i think we would be disappointed if we stayed anywhere else. The owners have been asking me to give a review each time for the past 4 years but i always got bussy doing something and never wrote one. Hope this makes up for it guys! Count on seeing us many more times!

    Amazing! recksters Montreal, Quebec, Canada.Date Submitted: June 10, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008 My spouse and I stayed at the house from April 30th until May 7th 2008. From the beginning of the discussions and the help we got to learn about Costa Rica, we knew we were getting a good house. And it was. We stayed in Costa Rica for 40 days and it was the best house we rented during our trip! The peace and location was amazing, the privacy was perfect. Atenas is a beautiful town with everything you need, with many food stores. Atenas is fairly central to many things to do. Within one hour of popular destinations like Poas, La Paz, Carara National Park, Jaco, etc.. Close to canopy parks, we especially liked Turu Bari, but counldn't go to Hotal Vista Golfo near Miramar, but I would highly recommend it, with 25 cables. We don't go in restaurants much, as we cook better than most restaurants and Costa Rican restaurants are not known for good food. Coming from Montréal, the island of restaurants and good food, we prefer still to cook in our home town. The best advantage for cooking in Costa Rica is the freshness of the food, the chicken is AMAZING, the fish too, but we are not crazy about their red meat. And Atenas has access to a lot of fresh food! Sam's house is AMAZING! Big, clean, the Air Conditioners can be helpful but not always needed as there's always a good breeze. The kitchen is fully equiped. The pool is great. The views are amazing. Don't worry about eating outside, as the best trick with bugs is to have bigger lights opened that attracts the bugs, such as the lights by the pool and have candles on the table. Having access to free Internet is rare in Costa Rica, even if it's slow, it helps keeping in touch with friends and family when on a long trip. Having a car is a plus, but there are many taxi cabs in Atenas, so it's not necessirily a necessity. The roads around Atenas are 'fun' but can be congested during rush hours and since there are many mountains in the region, slow trucks can be a pain. It's better to take a bus, as they know how to handle traffic and know where it's safe to pass slow moving trucks. I would return to this house on my next visit!     Sam and Roxanne, Your house in Atenas is just fabulous and the location is hard to believe. Everything works and it was wonderfully clean.     Hello there. Just wanted to say, that we enjoyed ourselves very much in Costa Rica. Your house is in a great location, the views a great and everything worked good. The only thing we missed was the welcoming bottle of champagne (LOL). We will definitely be returning and I’ll get in touch with you when the time comes.
