Location: Paris Arrondissement 2, Paris, Ile-de-France (Paris Area), France, Europe (In the middle of evrything in Paris!) View Map

Accommodations:  Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 4)

Keywords:  Loft style studio charming self-catering near Louvre, Place Vendome Madeleine steps from Opera

This is a 55 sq meter open-space in a typical Haussmannian historic building (18th century) on the first floor. Situated in the 2°Arrondissement, in the very center of the "snail"! (central Arrondissements in Paris are represented in a snail). The apartment has been recently and finely restored but preserves the fascination of the unforgettable "belle époque". The floor and the ceiling are authentic and antique like several pieces of furniture. Old beams, old parquet and logical living design and amenities create charm and space that feel good and are just plain fun to live in.

This big studio is ideal for modern life style. Loft living is different: "a loft is open space, and creative use of that space that invites people to arrange things to suit their personal lifestyle and taste". The great part is that the owner/guest decides the use-of-space, not the builder!

The location is really interesting because you are very in a walking distance to the main attractions in Paris (one minute from Opera Theatre, ten minutes from Place Vendome, eight minutes from Madeleine Square, ten minutes from Louvre Palais, twelve minutes from Montergeuil, etc). This is a lively area to stay in, with splendid buildings, Grand Boulevards and places such as the Palais Royal, Madeleine surrounded by gardens and restaurants, the "Bourse" stock exchange, the Louvre, the Tuileries Gardens. The rue St Honoré runs through the middle of the first arrondissement with small boutiques from end to end as far as "Chatelet Les Halles" a popular tourist attraction where you will find Montergueil market .
The Capital of fashion, food, art, music, culture, and history is waiting for you! You are only a few steps from great restaurants, theaters, cinemas, and, of course, nightlife. But, if desired, four Underground lines will take you from home to everywhere in Paris.

The house is in a quiet street that crosses two crowded "Boulevards". Anyway the apartment is completely sound-proofed in order to protect your sleep.

Our home would be comfortable for a couple or a family. The four-poster bed and a sofa-bed can sleep up to 4.
The bathroom is new and has shower and jetted Tub (Jacuzzi).
The Kitchen is fully equipped for gourmet cook and is hided besides a corner Bar.

A kind concierge (he's like a "maitre d'Hotel") will greet you and supervise all your needs. We are no smokers and we ask to guests not smoking at our home.

Luxurious simplicity
Baroque minimalism
Compact extravagance
Democratic chic
Everyday extraordinary

Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 2

As Carmen grew-up in Venice we always had the dream of buying a home in Venice. Our dream came true seven years ago. At the beginning we would have liked to keep the apartment only for ourselves, but, as you may know, maintenance costs are quite expensive in Venice! So we have decided to rent or exchange the apartment during the periods we were not there. This was just the beginning: we became suddenly very fond of vacation rental and home-exchange and consequently we extended this model. So far we have added Paris, Rome and recently New York and we are sure we will continue as we could buy a vacation rental apartment everywhere we love to stay!

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment

Our properties are very special because we have furnished and decorated them for ourself. Every detail was chosen with an eye to style and design. We are very proud of all our gems and we love to be spoiled and live in the comfort of our homes.

Owner's Map of Paris Arrondissement 2

We are Carmen (IT Engineer with passion for Architecture) and Mauro (Excutive Economist). We live and work in Rome but we like to spend week-ends in one of our properties we have in Venice, Paris, New York or exchange one of our property to stay in the most important locations in the world.
We have many interests: we love cooking, biking, jogging, art exibitions, travelling and we are fond of vacation rental and home-exchange.

Pleasant Stay

Guest: Kathy (Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, USA)
Date of Stay: 09/03/11 Review Submitted: 09/18/11

My husband and I stayed for 7 nights and enjoyed our stay very much. The apartment is conveniently located close to the Opera Metro, some eating establishments, two nearby grocery stores, and there is a lovely pastry shop just down the street. We got around easily to everywhere we wanted to go. We took the Roissy bus from the airport to the Opera Metro and then it was a short walk to the apartment. Carmen and Mauro are wonderful to deal with and will answer all questions by email before you go, and you may call them from the phone in the apartment if you need to while in Paris. It was a bonus to have the computer in the apartment to use. We received our security deposit one week after we departed. One thing to keep in mind is that it can get a bit noisy with traffic - especially motorcycles coming through every so often. Because of this, we needed to have the windows closed. It was never too noisy for my husband, but I'm a light sleeper, so I needed to have the windows closed at night. New on-site caretakers had just begun working at this building the weekend we arrived. They were very sweet and kind, but do not speak English. All in all, a very pleasant stay.

Central but hidden

This was the last apartment we stayed in on our 4 wk Italy-Paris adventure. It was easy to access using the Opera bus from the airport and walking 3 blocks to the apartment complex. Unbelievable! We squeezed 4 adults into this apartment, and for us it was a little crowded only because it was a loft and you were always in each other's space. It would be ideal for a younger family, although it is perfectly set up for 4. It was much bigger than a hotel in Paris would be and much more comfortable. The pictures are an exact representation of the space. It is chic without being uncomfortable. Mauro and Carmen were in Paris the same weekend we arrived and ensured our comfort during that heatwave by purchasing a dehumidifier and additional fan. There is no AC but we were comfortable at night with the fans. I've read some people complain about the kitchen size but must admit I cooked all meals quite easily and never had a problem. There is a window in the kicthen overlooking the courtyard which gives you a good breeze while creating culinary delights. Eating out would have been easy as you are centrally located and restaurants, grocery stores, boulangeries etc. are all within a 5 min. promenade. It was a 10 minute walk to the Louvre from here once we discovered the efficient route. Every tourist site in Paris is accessible by foot from this apartment, but it is sooo easy to get lost. Give your feet a break every other day and take the metro which is also easy to access from here. I have been recommending this apartment to all my friends that annually visit Paris and stay in hotels. This apartment is sheer luxury and there is a whirlpool bath which just makes recovering from sight-seeing that much easier. Highly recommend this accomodation.

Comfortable, Central, Memorable

My first experience with VRBO and it will stand out above any standard 3 or 4 star European hotel as more memorable. Lots of room for family of four and flexibility because of central location in arrondissment 2 near old operat house, to take a break from touring Paris, eat in for convenience and the kids could connect to friends at home through convenient wifi service included. The owners were personal and provided details of location, hours of access, support once the booking was confirmed and security deposit submitted. I have already recieved my deposit back.

The apartment felt like home and much better then a hotel room, it was clean and had everything we needed during our stay. It was so close to metro, stores, restaurants and museums. Thank you again for everything, hope to rent your Rome location for our next trip……….

Paris Haven

Guest: Jules (Lancelin Western Australia)
Date of Stay: 05/01/11 Review Submitted: 05/17/11

The apartment was fantastic for our family of three. It was comfortable, clean and quite spacious. It was in an excellent location making our stay very relaxed; we could sleep in and still had plenty of day left to visit all the sites. The spa bath was a delight after a busy day on the cobbles stones. The kitchen was a bit of a challenge to work in being quite small but it was well equipped. although the toaster only toasts one side, the kettle has a tricky little switch and the washing machine is a nightmare for an non European to understand. All that is missing is a chopping board and some wine glasses. We really enjoyed the Chinese restaurant that was just down stairs. The food was great and we were treated like family. There were plenty of places to eat and shops all near-by, everything you could want. The owners were very informative and the caretakers very helpful. I would highly recommend this property.

Easy & Fun Week in Paris

Guest: napoli4me (Naples, Italy)
Date of Stay: 04/09/11 Review Submitted: 04/23/11

Spent a week in Paris at this excellent property. Location was superb for our family of four's needs, literally 3 minutes from Opera Garnier. Communication with the owners was quick and clear. They gave us flawless instructions on how to get to the property from the airport - we used the Roissy Bus that dropped us off at the Opera for the short walk to the apartment. The property was very clean and well maintained. Lots of little extras, like sightseeing books and DVDs for guests to use. There are dozens and dozens of restaurants nearby, as well as several metro stops. I know it's sounds funny - we're in Paris after all - but there was a McDonalds less than 100 meters from the apartment which can save the day when your children are picky eaters. Plus a grocery store just a bit farther. I thought the description and photos were very accurate in describing the apartment. We loved our stay in this apartment and hope we have the opportunity to return someday. The whole rental experience was easy and smooth. Highly recommended.

Opera studio apartment was a home away from home!

Guest: garbar (los angeles)
Date of Stay: 12/26/10 Review Submitted: 01/10/11

We stayed at the spacious studio for two weeks. Everything was as advertised except that there is no dryer, and if you stay two weeks it becomes important. The owners were very responsive and accommodating to questions and concerns, even though they don't live in Paris. The location was fantastic, the size of the studio, the bed, the linens, the dining table, the bathroom were all great. We stayed during the coldest time of the year and the place was always warm. Plenty of hot water and excellent water pressure in the bathroom! The only negative for us was the kitchen, which is absolutely tiny, so if you are a cook, you will have to manage in very close quarters. That does not mean though, that we lacked any utensils, pots, condiments, etc. Everything was there, except for a skillet, an item which the owner was kind enough to authorize us to buy. We did not, but they were willing to pay for it! Even though the apartment faces the street, the windows had excellent sound proof. The books and maps about Paris, were a nice and helpful touch, as well as the magazines, and even a couple of reading books in English! The bed was large and comfortable, and they provide a change of towels and linen service every week. We would definitely want to stay there again, and to continue exploring Paris from this desirable location!

Birthday Treat in Paris

Guest: Sentimentaltr (Stockton, California, Stati Uniti)
Date of Stay: 11/20/10 Review Submitted: 12/04/10

We went to Paris for my birthday treat and from the moment we walked in we felt completely at home. We had a warm welcome from the concierge who was very friendly and showed us around. Everything we needed was there and we truly felt as though we were privileged guests in a friend’s home. The apartment could not be better placed for transport, attractions and shops – 5 minutes walk from the big Metro interchange at Opera, from the stores on Bvd Haussman and from the Roissy Bus to the airport. Much attention has been paid to the decoration to create a cosy but chic ambiance. In short: perfect.

Big apartment in a great location!

Guest: Music City, USA (Nashville, TN, USA)
Date of Stay: 09/19/10 Review Submitted: 10/05/10

My husband and I stayed in the Opera apartment for 6 nights in September. It was a great location, just minutes from the Opera metro station. For anyone flying into CDG, this location is ideal, as there is a bus (the Roissy bus) that runs from the airport directly to the Opera metro for only 9 euros. It is much easier than catching the train/metro and much less expensive than a taxi. The apartment is a 10 minute walk from the Louvre and the Seine. A longer walk will take you to St. Germain and other areas. When you're not up for walking, the metro is so close. The neighborhood was safe, and the apartment was very quiet (with the windows closed). There are plenty of places close by to grab breakfast before you start your day. The one drawback to the area is that the neighborhood itself is not much of a destination--we didn't spend very much time in the immediate area. That said, it was so easy to get anywhere we wanted to go either walking or by metro that it didn't matter too much. The apartment itself was much bigger than expected, with the exception of the kitchen. The bathroom was very large, by European standards, and the living space was also very large for a studio apartment (by any country's standards). It was really nice to come back to the apartment for a break and be able to relax on the couch or at the table without having to sit on the bed, like you would at a hotel. The kitchen was on the small side--though we never tried to cook, it might be a challenge to do anything major in the space. For quick, easy meals, it shouldn't be a problem. There was no AC that we could find, so it might get warm if you were staying during the summer. We were a little warm even in September--opening the windows helps, but there is quite a bit of street noise (from cars, not people) so there is a trade-off. The windows do keep all of the sound out if closed, though. Check-in was a breeze, and we were able to drop our luggage earlier than the check-in time with no problems. We were also given our deposit refund within a few days of checking out. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay at the Opera apartment. I would definitely recommend it to others.

We stayed at the apartment for 12 nights and found it to be perfectly situated to see all the sites we wanted to go to.The Metro was a very short walk away,we walked to the Lourve,Galleries Layfette, food markets, shops and restaurants and were happy to come across quite by accident the Japanese restaurant area close to the apartment which had dozens of great Japanese restaurants to eat at.The apartment itself was very warm, well set up and felt like home.We strongly recommend it to other travellers.
