Location: Paris Arrondissement 2, Paris, Ile-de-France (Paris Area), France, Europe (In the middle of evrything in Paris!)

Accommodations:  Loft, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 4)

A 55 sq m loft in a typical Haussmannian historic building (18th century) on the first floor. Situated in the 2°Arrondissement, in the very "coeur" of the "Ville Lumiere". The apartment has been recently and finely restored but preserves the fascination of the unforgettable "belle époque". The floor and the ceiling are authentic and antique like several pieces of furniture. Old beams, old parquet and logical living designs and amenities create charm and space that feel good and are just plain fun to live in.

This 1 bedroom open space - with finished kitchen and bathroom and some furniture scattered about - is ideal for modern life style. Loft living is different: "a loft is open space, and creative use of that space that invites people to arrange things to suit their personal lifestyle and taste". The great part is that the owner/guest decides the use-of-space, not the builder!

The location is really wonderful because you are very close to main attractions in Paris (two minutes from Opera Theatre, ten minutes from Place Vendome, eight minutes from Madeleine Square, ten minutes from Louvre Palais, twelve minutes from Beaubourg, etc). This is a lively area to stay in, with splendid buildings and places such as the Palais Royal surrounded by gardens and restaurants, the "Bourse" stock exchange, the Louvre, the Tuileries Gardens. The rue St Honoré runs through the middle of the first arrondissement with small boutiques from end to end as far as "Chatelet Les Halles" a popular tourist attraction.
The Capital of fashion, food, art, music, culture, and history is waiting for you! You are only a few steps from great restaurants, theaters, cinemas, and, of course, nightlife. But, if desired, four Underground lines will take you from home to everywhere in Paris.

The house is in a quiet street that crosses two crowded "Boulevards". Anyway the apartment is completely soundproofed in order to protect your sleep.

Our home would be comfortable for a couple or a family. The four-poster bed and a sofa-bed can sleep up to 4.
The bathroom is new and has shower and jetted Tub (Jacuzzi).
The Kitchen is fully equipped for gourmet cook and is cached besides a corner Bar.

A kind concierge (he's like a "maitre d'Hotel") will greet you and supervise all your needs. We are no smokers and we prefer that our guests would not smoke at our home.

Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2005

We are Carmen (IT Engineer with passion for Architecture) and Mauro (Excutive Economist). We live and work in Rome but we like to spend week-ends in one of our properties we have in Venice, Paris, New York or exchange one of our property to stay in the most important locations in the world.
We have many interests: we love cooking, biking, jogging, art exibitions, travelling and we are fond of vacation rental and home-exchange.

Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 2

As Carmen grew-up in Venice we always had the dream of buying a home in Venice. Our dream came true seven years ago. At the beginning we would have liked to keep the apartment only for ourselves, but, as you may know, maintenance costs are quite expensive in Venice! So we have decided to rent or exchange the apartment during the periods we were not there. This was just the beginning: we became suddenly very fond of vacation rental and home-exchange and consequently we extended this model. So far we have added Paris, Rome and recently New York and we are sure we will continue as we could buy a vacation rental apartment everywhere we love to stay!

The Unique Benefits of this Loft

Our properties are very special because we have furnished and decorated them for ourself. Every detail was chosen with an eye to style and design. We are very proud of all our gems and we love to be spoiled and live in the comfort of our homes.

    • We stayed here last week and found it to be very charming. For the price & location, you cannot beat! Big living room / bedroom, centrally located, and a great bakery meters from the apt. The internet access was instantly resolved; however, we could not figure out the washer / dryer since we don't know French. I really appreciate the owners quick responses and fast deposit refund process. I would recommend this establishment and hope to stay here again.

    • Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children) stayed in the Opera apartment in late June. The location is superb: about 2 blocks from the Opera Metro and 3 blocks from the direct bus to CDG airport. It was a great base to explore Paris. There is a nice patisserie a few doors down and a grocery store a few blocks away. One hint: although the apartment is on a quiet street, bring earplugs so that you can leave the windows open to catch the breeze at night without fear of disturbance. The loft-style layout is perfect for a couple or family with 2 kids. We were able to fix some meals in the kitchen, which saved us quite a bit. Thanks for a great stay.

    • My boyfriend and I stayed at Carmen & Mauro's Opera Apartment in early June 2008 and had a wonderful experience. This was the first time I rented an apartment and was a little apprehensive. However, everything went off "without a hitch." The directions to the apartment were outstanding. Once we arrived, Victoria was there to show us to our room, which looked EXACTLY like the pictures on the website. We received our initial deposit within a week of our return. It was a seamless and hassle-free process. Two Metro stops are literally a 2- or 3- minute walk away--Opera and Quatre Septembre. Opera is a great metro stop because 3 different metro lines go through here, making access to other parts of the city quick. My favorite feature of the apartment was the location. Getting from Charles de Galle airport couldn't be simpler--just hop on the Roissybus. Other than a few stops at the other CDG terminals, the only other stop was the Opera (about a 45 minute ride). From there, it was a short 5-minute walk to the apartment. I also liked that I felt very safe in this neighborhood, which is in the financial district. Most people wore suits. A bank takes up the entire block directly across the street. Of course, there were tons of restaurants in the area, including many sidewalk cafes along Blvd. des Italiens. A bakery and small grocery/convenience store are literally next door if you need a quick snack to bring back to the apartment. The bed was very comfortable, and the ceiling fan directly above it kept us cool all night. Overall, we had a great stay and will stay here again when we return. Please feel free to email me with any questions.

    • 2007/9/25 Dear Carmen & Mauro, we are very late in sending you a thank you note. We thoroughly enjoyed staying in your apartment and will recommend it to friends. Your email directions and organization were superb and we appreciated the instructions on computer & t.v. use. It was clean, comfortable, friendly/warm and in a convenient location. Of course we did not know that we would be staying in the apartment for so many hours, due to Victor's injury. It came in very handy as we could make ice and had room to relax. Your trust in people also made us feel very welcome, as we trust people as well. The use of the computer was most helpful since I didn't need to walk to the internet cafe (also conveniently located! as was the Air France office) and leave Victor alone. We cannot say enough about Lucien & Victoria. I could not find ice cubes for sale in the stores & they gave me some from their home and came to check on us after the metro assault. On our last night they offered to drive us to Notre Dame but we declined their generous & friendly offer. They brought us a bottle of wine to take home & that was very sweet of them. We left them some chocolates & a thank you note but would like to mail them a letter of thanks. Would you mind emailing their last name so I can send a card? Thank you for your hospitality and take care. Your apartment made us feel at home even though the Paris portion of our trip was otherwise ruined. FYI, Victor's injuries are so severe & bruises so deep that he still walks with a bad limp 2 weeks later. Swelling of the calf, ankle & foot are very apparent. We never experienced anything like this but are glad nothing more serious happened. Doctors say it will take a month to recover. C'est la vie. Best Regards, Barbara & Victor p.s. thanks for the prompt return of our deposit.

    • Our family of four stayed in Carmen and Mauro's well situated apartment. It was wellcoming and homely and had everything we required to be self sufficient. Close to shops and restaurants and to attractions such as the Opera and the Louvre, made it perfect for our needs. Carmen and Mauro were exceedingly helpful to us via email and we look forward to future contact with them on any of our trips to Paris.

    • Dear Carmen & Mauro Just wanted to say thank you for a wonderful stay at CaMallo between Christmas and New Year. The stay was a Christmas gift for a couple of young people who had never visited Paris before. I hoped it would be a magical and romantic experience for them and it truly was! The apartment is in a fantastic location and was absolutely beautiful - even better than we had hoped for. The instructions/directions/travel advice were all first class with email correspondance being in English an extra bonus. What can I say...beautiful, beautiful, beautiful ...and thank you KarenXX

    • We had a wonderful, wonderful stay at CaMallo. Thank you so much for your kindness in letting us re-book after John's passport-washing episode. I'm already recommending CaMallo to friends and colleagues, not just because the apartment is so spacious and well-located but also because our dealings with Mauro and Carmen have been so open and easy.

    • Carmen and Mauro, What a wonderful time we had at your home in Paris. Everything was just as you said, and close to everything. We would leave in the morning and return in the late afternoon to rest, and enjoy some wine and cheese snacks before going out to dinner. We left town for three days and traveled to Rouen, the Beaches of Normandy and Mont-Saint-Michel. It was so nice to be able to leave our bags and not worry about them. After staying in small hotels for two nights we could hardly wait to get back to our Paris home. Victoria was there to greet us, she was such a sweet lady. So my birthday in Paris turned out to be ten wonderful days, thank you so much for everything. I've told my friends if they want to live like the french they must try an apartment. I would be very happy to send them to you. I received my deposit back today, again may I say thank you and wish you Happy Holidays..The Three Lovely Ladies from Minnesota. Mary Jane, Colleen & Vicki
