Location: Fivizzano, Lunigiana Area, Tuscany, Italy, Europe (near La Spezia, a bit more than an hour from Pisa airport,)
Accommodations: House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 4-9)
An hour's car or train ride from Lucca, the Lunigiana is the last undiscovered spot of Italy. It shares all the best that is Italian: the food, the glorious scenery, the history, and the friendly neighbors, but manages to avoid the traffic, the tourists, and the high prices.
You'll discover the joys of the real Italy: Lunigiana has over one hundred castles, and countless medieval villages to discover; family restaurants with sophisticated cuisine (check out the "testaroli" and the "panigucci"--both are elegant crepes, but made with chestnut flour and delicious toppings); museums with mysterious pre-Roman statues called "stele;" interesting markets...
The village has a small bar and grocery store, supermarket and "macelleria" shopping are five minutes away.
The house has glorious views of the Appenines and of the Apuan Alps. But beware, you might end up with the "Viano sleeping-sickness" because the nights are so quiet and cool, and the days in the garden are so breezy and warm.
