The apartment occupies the top two floors of a Georgian house in Bloomsbury, a quiet, elegant corner of central London, close to Russell Square or Chancery Lane tube stations. Built in the 1790s, the building boasts all the luxuries of a modern home, including a fully-equipped kitchen (washer/drier for clothes, dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer plus lots of pots, pans and utensils for cooking), satellite TV and DVD player, power shower and modern bathroom. The spacious living room has two sofas and a TV plus a bookshelf stuffed with books which feature London, guidebooks for London, maps of London for you to take out with you, dvds, toys for young children and games. Large windows with Georgian wooden shutters look out to the historic street below. The adjoining kitchen is spacious and has a dining table and six chairs. A short but steep flight of stairs leads up to two bedrooms and a bathroom. The bathroom has a bath, separate shower, basin and toilet with a smart black and white tiled floor and heated towel rail. The large master bedroom has a king-size double bed and a single bed with large wardrobe, feature mirror and Victorian chest of drawers. The second bedroom has two single beds (adult sized) with Victorian chest of drawers, hanging space for clothes and mirror. Both bedrooms have 'black-out' blinds so that you are not woken by early morning sun. A cot and highchair are available on request. Bed linen and towels included. A hairdryer, an iron and ironing board are provided. This is an ideal holiday home for a family or couples looking to explore London from a central base.
It is a six minute walk from Russell Square tube station (subway) or Chancery Lane tube station. We will send you full directions and a map of Bloomsbury when you book.
Getting Here - Air: It is an easy journey from London Heathrow to John St, as the local tube (subway or underground) station runs directly to the airport. From there it's a 6 minute walk to the apartment. From other London airports (Gatwick, Stansted, Luton or City airports), you can take the train into the centre of London and make a short tube or taxi journey to the apartment. We will send you full directions when you book.
Getting Here - Rail: John St is a fifteen minute walk from the mainline stations, Kings Cross and St Pancras International where the Eurostar service from Paris and Brussells now departs. Euston Station is a few minutes further away. It is a short bus ride from London Bridge and Waterloo stations. Paddington is a tube ride away.
No hidden extras: Price quoted includes VAT (sales tax), bed linen, towels and cleaning. There are no hidden extras to pay.

- This apartment is on the second and third floor of a 200-year old house. If you have difficulty with stairs, it really isn't suitable as there are two flights to the entrance and a further flight to the bedrooms. Please try not to bring a car, the parking in London is awful. Public transport is excellent with underground (tube) stations Russell Square and Chancery Lane both 7 mins walk away. Buses are 3 mins walk away and of course, famous London black taxicabs are always available. You can walk to many of the major sites, shops and entertainment. There is no outside space with this property, but for children, at the end of the street there is Coram's Fields, a delightful park with swings, slides, sand pit, farm animals and astroturf football pitches. For adults, Russell Square is a pleasant green space with a café, fountains and wildlife to provide a respite from life in Europe's largest city....moreless

John St is in the historic area of Bloomsbury in Central London. You're in the heart of London but away from the crowds. Nearest tube stations are Russell Square (6 min walk) and Chancery Lane (7 mins), but you'll often find it as quick to walk to many of the main attractions. The British Museum is a 10 min walk and Charles Dickens' House (he wrote Oliver Twist here), is 1 minute away. London's West End with its fabulous shopping (Oxford St, Regent St, Carnaby St), theatres, art galleries and landmarks (Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, Big Ben) is close by. Covent Garden (street theatre, opera house and shopping piazza) is an easy walk (25 mins). Heading East, you can stroll around the City of London, Europe's financial centre with its famous buildings (St Paul's Cathedral, the Gherkin, medieval Tower of London, Tower Bridge). John St is close to Great Ormond Street Hospital, National Neurological & Neurosurgery Hospital, University College London, Kings College, London School of Economics, the British Library & Law Courts.

About the owner: This apartment is owned by Electric Marketing, a database marketing company set up in 1991 by Melissa Mackey. Electric Marketing's offices are on the ground and first floors of the building, the apartment is on the second and third floors. You will share a front door and hallway with our office team during weekdays, but no one will visit the apartment during your stay unless you come down to the ground floor and ask us for help. This means that there is always someone on site to help you if you have any problems eg lightbulb needs replacing or something is broken. Equally we are aware that most people want to be allowed to enjoy their holiday in private and we won't visit unless there is a serious issue that needs to be fixed. If you have a problem at the weekend, our contact phone numbers are in a black folder of useful information in the living room.
Why the Owner Chose Bloomsbury:
There is no doubt that John Street in Bloomsbury is a smart part of town, close to Grays Inn and full of barristers' chambers and legal firms. As well as the lawyers, our near neighbours are the Charles Dickens Museum, noted actors and artists as well as the TV news studios on Grays Inn Road. John Street and adjoining Doughty Street are steeped in history as these houses have stood for 250 years. It is a safe and secure part of London, walking distance to the West End and to the City of London, close to shops and restaurants and yet quiet at night so that you can sleep easily.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
You are in the middle of London, close enough to walk to most of the places you'll want to visit, short bus or tube rides to other tourist must-sees, but this is a quiet, secure part of town with little night time traffic or noise.
