Accommodations:  Condominium, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 1-6)

Located in South Kihei, just two short blocks away from Wailea, the Maui Kamaole is the perfect location for enjoying the many charms and activities of Maui without dealing with the constant chaos of West Maui.

Why stay in the hustle and bustle of Lahaina, Ka'anapali or Kapalua? Too many people and too much traffic is what you're trying to leave behind. Part of the beauty of Kihei is that you can easily stroll to casual shops, restaurants and beaches.

Or, hop in your car and you'll find yourself at the elegant shops and restaurants of Wailea in minutes. The Maui Kamaole stands out as an upscale property that conveniently bridges the casual charm of Kihei and the elegance of Wailea. What a great location!!

The Maui Kamaole is a luxurious low-rise, townhouse-style complex of 23 tropical acres set on a hill overlooking the ocean off the Maui coastline. The property boasts two beautiful swimming pools (the closest one to our unit a gorgeous, natural design with a waterfall and an adjacent sand bottom hot tub), BBQ areas, tennis and, of course, wonderful ocean views.

Our spacious (1,200 square-foot--one of the largest in the complex), professionally decorated two-bedroom end unit in the "J" building (J202) allows you and your family to spread out and relax while not sacrificing anything in the way of a “resort feel” both inside and outside of the unit.

You’ll notice and appreciate the high quality accents such as elegant furnishings and impressive artwork. There are ceiling fans and individual air conditioners in each of the bedrooms and in the living/dining room combo.

The two-story living room features an open-beam ceiling, queen-size sofa bed, cable TV and DVD player. You'll find a complimentary library of DVD movies available for your viewing. This main room opens to a spacious, private lanai--complete with patio table and chairs--where you can relax with a drink or have a meal while enjoying the wonderful Hawaiian weather, listening to the native birds, and appreciating the tropical setting.

The master bedroom is located upstairs in a private loft with a nice-sized lanai of its own. You can even sneak a peek at the beautiful Pacific Ocean from the master bedroom window. Relax in comfort on a king-size mattress. The adjoining private bathroom includes double sinks and an over-sized shower. Don't lug your hair dryer along--we have one for your use.

The second bedroom is downstairs and has a pair of twin-size beds, lots of closet space (enough to share with anyone sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room) and it's own bathroom with tub & shower. (You'll find the easy-to-use WASHER & DRYER in a closet within.)

The sleeper sofa in the living room has a queen-size mattress. There is also a queen-sized “memory foam” topper available to use in conjunction with the sofa bed which makes the mattress much more comfortable.

All the comforts of home have been provided. The kitchen is fully equipped for your cooking needs with refrigerator, microwave, oven/cooktop, dishwasher, coffee maker, blender, toaster and all basic utensils, cookware and dishes. Bath towels, beach towels and linens/bedding are also supplied. Free wireless Internet (WiFi) is available.

BEACHES: Maui is home to some of the best beaches in the world. You are across the road from Kamaole III Beach Park—one of the nicest family beaches in all of Maui--and just a short drive to the world acclaimed beaches of Makena and Wailea.

WATERSPORTS: Paddle a kayak and/or learn to surf in Kihei; jet ski in Wailea; boogie board at Makena Beach. The Kihei Boat Ramp is just across the street and offers a number of departures for ocean activities, like scuba, snorkeling and whale watching.

SHOPPING/DINING: The Maui Kamaole is just minutes from "The Shops at Wailea"--the most beautiful and exclusive shopping center in Hawaii. You can shop for anything from a T-shirt to a Louis Vuitton bag. Then, top off your visit by dining at one of their fine restaurants. Many of the 4-star hotels in Wailea and Makena also have excellent restaurants for you to consider.

Dining options, from casual to not-so-casual, abound in Kihei. The same goes for shopping. You can find specialty shops, arts & crafts and "old" favorites like Hilo Hattie. The charm of Lahaina Town--another area for good dining and shopping (make sure to explore the many art galleries in Lahaina)--is an easy 40 minute drive along a picturesque coastal highway.

GOLF: There are no fewer than 15 courses on the island of Maui. You’re just minutes away from the spectacular Wailea and Makena golf courses, Drive up the coast to Kaanapali and Kapalua for even more world class courses. Don't forget the two courses on the island of Lana'i--just a quick trip from Lahaina across the Auau Channel by ferry.

SIGHTSEEING: Kihei is the perfect launching spot to enjoy Maui’s many sights and experiences. Head to beautiful Hana, where you can experience the Seven Sacred Pools; or visit majestic Haleakala National Park. Don't overlook a visit to the Maui Ocean Center aquarium in Ma’alaea.

Why the Owner Chose Maui Kamaole

We selected a home at the Maui Kamaole because its location allows you to take advantage of the local charm of Kihei just as easily as the upscale flavor of Wailea. We bridge the gap.

You'll see lots of pedestrians enjoying a stroll on the paths along the ocean as well as down South Kihei Road to many shops and restaurants. You can't (easily) do that in Kaanapali in West Maui. Plus, the weather in South Maui is usually better than either along Kaanapali or even just down the coast in Makena.

We love Maui because of the island’s beauty, charm and Aloha spirit, and we welcome you to our little piece of paradise.

The Unique Benefits at this Condominium

While a guest in our condo, you'll appreciate having lots of room to spread out--much more than you would have in a hotel room. Our unit is a bit wider than most of the other units at the Maui Kamaole, and, as an end unit, only has neighbors on one side, so it's generally quiet and private.

There's no shortage of closet space for unpacking; two good-sized bathrooms, allowing you plenty of room to get ready; your own fully-equipped kitchen, so that you can save money by preparing your own meals and not having to eat out the entire trip; and the decor is island tasteful, not kitschy.

Want to spend more time in the sun, but ready to take a break from the beaches during the middle (windier) part of the day? Aren't you lucky that the beautiful upper pool is just steps from our front door? It's an idyllic tropical setting.

Owner's Map of Maui Kamaole

Our family of five considers Maui our second home. Our only regret is that we don't get to visit as often as we'd like. But, that works out for you, because our absence means it's available for you to enjoy.

    • We stayed in Alan and Tamara's condo twice (summer '08 and spring '09), and we loved it for several reasons: It is very tastefully decorated (as opposed to many other places on the island), also it is spacious, and very well equipped - especially the kitchen. The views and the location are perfect. I hope we will be back soon! Susan, L.A.

    • This is our second stay at Maui Kamaole. The complex is well kept. J202 was clean and very nice. We had showerhead malfunction; it was fixed the next day. The location in Kihei is great to access the nice beaches and premium areas of Wailea and McKenna without paying the premium of staying in that area. The ocean is just across the street for nice long walks, even up to the Shops at Wailea. The weather in Kihei is generally warmer and sunnier too. The central location in Kihei makes access to other areas of the island very good; great when you are exploring. This time, I thought I'd save some hassle and go to a Luau iclose to the condo. Mistake. Go to the Old Lahianna Luau. Feels more authentic even though it's still a big group function. Aloha

    • We stayed from July 29 thru August 5. Thank you, Alan and Tamara, for providing a nice "home" for my family. J202 is very clean and quiet, yet close to everything, including the Kamaole beach. Being out and about most of the day, I looked forward to getting back to the condo in the evenings.

    • We just returned from our wonderful trip to Maui, and I've been telling everyone about our great condo! We typically stay in hotel rooms and eat at restaurants, but this was so much better. This condo is so spacious and beautifully decorated. The availability of towels, beach toys, and well-equipped kitchen was a real plus. Air conditioning is great too. I loved how close this unit is to the bbq and pool. It was a bit of a long walk to the beach because of the heat, but not bad. Everything was clean and updated. A great place to stay while enjoying this beautiful island, and we loved the fact that it was so close to Wailea with a Kihei price! Thanks, and we hope to return soon.

      Homeowner Response:
You mention so many of the things that we love about staying in our condo too! As far as the walk to the beach – most resorts in Kihei are across the street from the ocean. The Maui Kamaole happens to be a complex of low-rise buildings scattered across a tropical property. That means to stroll from our unit to the beach takes a few minutes longer than walking across the street from a high-rise, but is well worth the trade-off of being in a beautiful setting. And, it certainly isn’t a deal breaker. The option is to throw your things into the car which will be parked in your private, reserved parking space directly in front of our condo, roll down the driveway, and across the street to the beach. That just takes a moment, and is most convenient if you're transporting lots of "stuff".

    • We stayed in J202 from Dec.19,2006 - Jan.3,2007. We were very happy with this condo and the Maui Kamaole complex. We traveled with our 2 sons, ages 8 & 10, and my parents and there was plenty of room for the 6 of us. What impressed me the most about this condo was how clean it was. It was also nicely furnished and had everything you could possibly need including beach towels, washer and dryer, beach toys and plenty of cooking utensils. This was very convenient since we chose to eat in the condo quite often. It has a large lanai with a garden view off the dining room/living room area which we particularly enjoyed in the early mornings to listen to the birds. The complex itself is just very peaceful and the grounds were emmaculate. We also particularly liked the location if this condo. There is easy access to Wailea and also to the highway which is the way to travel to other parts of the island. We really enjoyed our vacation and would definitely stay in this condo again. Thank you!

    • We stayed in J202 unit at the Maui Kamaole for 10 days in Jan.2007. Our vaction was terrific, and the condo was great. The condo was clean, and the location was perfect, close to the pool, no too far from the beach, and a short drive to Wailea. We travelled with our you daughter (7 months), and our parents, and everyone enjoyed the stay. We would definetely go back and stay at J202 at the Maui Kamaole. The property grounds were beautiful as well. Thanks for a great vacation.

    • Stayed at the Maui Kamaole from Jan 5th to 15th, we loved the unit, it was very clean, which I am picky about, carpet was spotless, balcony is huge which is so nice to sit on in the evening, you actually see the red in the sky from the sun going down from the balcony, the complex is very quiet, just beautiful gardens, so close to the pool, you can walk to the beach in 5-10 minutes and catch the full sunset, just amazing, kitchen has everything you need and there is two TVs, a DVD player and even some movies, which our son, who is 7, loved, the loft is great, and it is so wonderful to have laundry, all the beach stuff is provided which is just a huge bonus, just loved it, definitely we will be back!!!!

    • We enjoyed staying in Unit J202 from June 13 to June 21, 2006. It was bright and clean, with plenty of space. The air-conditioning was really nice to have in the afternoons. We really like the location, right near the border of Kihei and Wailea. There is so much here. One thing we appreciated was that this condo is easy to be in with children. We have 3 kids, ages 2, 4, and 7. It is also just across from a nice pool, with waterfall and jacuzzi. The pool is also kid friendly. When we weren't at the beach, you could usually find us at the pool. Great trip! Jim and Annette Holland

    • We stayed at their condo March 2-9, 2006. What a great way to stay on Maui for a family. This was a vacation for my family which is a 20- yr old college student, 2 high seniors and my husband and me. We had space to get away from each other, be together to watch a movie, go to the spa or pool swimming easily and catch the beach, all without having a car!!. We did have a car and traveled away every day some, but it was nice not all had to go since the condo had so many options right there. Not having to dine out every meal was a real plus and I know we all enjoyed the stay much more than any motel could have offered. Condo is so nice, beds were great and Tamara was very helpful with suggestions about Maui. Thanks!! Wish I was still there.

    • We stayed in unit J202 at Maui Kam'ole from Dec 26'05 to Jan 2'06. This condo is great. We had 2 adults and four children. (22/20/16/16). Sleeping room was plenty for all since the couch in the living room is so big that the 2 youngest boys never pulled out the queen sofa bed. Having the washer and dryer really came in handy and should be a reason you go the condo route. The decorating is current in this unit with 2 air conditioning units (a reason I chose it. There are three lanai's which give you even more room. The parking spot is right at the bootom of the stairs. The upper pool is at the end of the parking lot, so it also is very convienent. This condo unit is probably at the higher end of the many condo units. I especially like the location of the Maui Kamaole. When leaving Kihei, you can head south (away from the traffic) and either go to Wailea or take a less traveled street over to the Highway which is hoe you travel anywhere north or west of Kihei. If I wanted 2 bedrooms, I would definitely recommend this unit and the people that own it.

      Homeowner Response:
Thanks for the nice comments. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Come visit us again! P.S. There are actually three (3) a/c units in the condo--one (1) in the living/dining room, and one (1) in EACH bedroom. The more cold air (in a tropical setting), the better!
