LOCALE
Tivoli is an interesting village possessing numerous restaurants including vegetarian, Mexican, Japanese, International, Spanish, Pizza and a good bakery and deli. It has close access to the Hudson River and a 400 acre estuary, Tivoli Bays which provides good kayaking, canoeing opportunities and hiking trails. Bard College with an eclectic mix of architecture set in a lovely pastoral campus with renown theatre and music programs is ten minutes down the road. The Hudson Valley region has much to explore.

Why the Owner Chose Tivoli
I chose this property for its arboretum of gracious guardians, the many unusual and mature trees, creating a private-oasis-feel, the numerous "outdoor" rooms on its nearly five acres, yet immediate access to the Village of Tivoli with many good restaurants.
The Hudson River Valley has a profusion of unusual locales, historic sites, performance venues, arts institutions, natural wonders, great seasonal festivals, farmers' markets, excellent eating, healing practitioners... a veritable feast of arts, culture and spirit.
Walking distance from the Hudson River with a view of the sunset over the Catskills, cross-country skiing in the nearby 1722-acre Tivoli Bays make the Barn an ideal spot to enjoy wintry meditations by the wood burning stove, summer days, spring bloom, spectacular autumn colors, with a pond and a private swimming hole in the Stony Creek (bordering the property to the East and North).
Four films have been shot, 3 books written, 2 CDs rehearsed... all have been gestated and brought to fruition in this creative sanctuary. The Barn has been witness to many engagements, marriage proposals, honey moons and weddings. It is a place well seasoned with love and spirit.

A fantastic, rustic barn, where you can go sleep to the sound of the adjacent river. 2 hours drive from Newark Airport. Very short walk to the local town of Tivoli (literally 5 minutes), great restaurants and a couple of decent bars. Perfect for a relaxing retreat, with a very helpful host and plenty of the great outdoors to explore on foot. Woodstock is only a 25 minute drive away too. Be prepared for the toilet being within the open plan bedroom area, behind a sheet screen. But if you aren't phased by that, then it's a perfect place.
Owner response:I have since undertaken a full bathroom renovation in the Barn. The bathroom is now fully enclosed by a wall of french doors with distinctive window treatments, affording both privacy and light to work within the context of the Barn's rustic architecture. These folks who wrote this review were lovely and as a vacation rental owner, I appreciate feedback as I am always endeavoring to improve both my property and business.
