Welcome to Napa and to the best wine country in the world!
This architectural gem in the heart of Napa's Old Town is conveniently situated among other Victorian homes, has easy highway access, and is within walking distance to everything from restaurants and shops to a grocery store and downtown wine tasting establishments. This is the perfect location for your wine country getaway. Walk to Celadon, Cole's Chop House, Norman Rose, Morimoto, Oenotri, Bounty Hunter, Angele, the Uptown Theater, the Napa Valley Opera House, and too many other special attractions to list here. Notable architect Luther Turton designed this group of homes. The Fox Cottage is a licensed and City permitted vacation rental house #VR09-0045.
With gleaming oak floors, fine cotton linens, pillow top beds, fluffy duvets and oriental carpets this home provides a romantic retreat. The bathroom has been recently restored with 'subway' tile wainscot, porcelain tile floors, and new fittings and details.
This lovingly restored 1892 Queen Anne Victorian home is well suited for one or two couples. Tree shaded streets, elegant Bed and Breakfast Inns and friendly neighbors surround this special house. There is even an ancient redwood-sided carriage house at the rear of the property (separated from the yard by a lattice fence).
As recent guests commented, 'The Fox Cottage was the perfect place to come home to after our daily 'adventures' in Napa! Walking and exploring neighborhoods in the morning was fun, as well as walking to Pearl's for dinner. We enjoyed golf at Eagle Vines and Silverado and wine tasting at Domaine Chandon, Miner Family Vineyard and Sterling. This is a terrific location for all activities! Many thanks!- Peggy and Jim B.'

Year Purchased: 1996
About the owner: Napa is a lovely town located in the heart of the Napa Valley. I've been active in the community for over 20 years, having served on boards, commissions and as an elected official. I am now Vice Mayor of the city and an Architect who specializes in historic architecture.
Why the Owner Chose Napa: In 1996 I acquired the Fox Cottage and operated it many years as a regular month to month rental house. In 2005 I refurbished the house again and converted it to a vacation rental. In 2013 and 2014 we did more work on the house! Napa has a unique combination of local activities, perfect climate, the best agricultural soils, beautiful landscape, and proximity to the SF Bay area.
The Unique Benefits at this House: The Fox Cottage is within easy walking distance of the thriving downtown area. Downtown Napa has over 30 Zagat rated restaurants, almost as many wine tasting rooms and wine bars, shopping, river walk and interesting seasonal activities and festivals. The cottage is a fine example of a Queen Anne 'raised cottage' designed by notable local architect Luther Turton in 1892. The neighborhood is eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.
