Guests: 2 couples in early/mid 20s. The location was wonderful. We walked everywhere. Downtown Napa was just 1/4 mile away and the grocery store was even closer, just three blocks away. Even the location our wine tour left from (California Wine Tours) was walking distance. For our first time visiting the Napa Valley, we couldn't have picked a better location within Napa, Ca. Although she lives next door, we never met the owner which really wasn't a problem. I gather as long as you're not bothering the neighbors she just leaves you be. My friends and I really felt like we were living in Napa for a couple of days rather than just visiting. Having never rented from an owner before, we didn't exactly know what to expect, and when we first walked in we were still a bit skeptical and maybe over analyzing everything only because our own homes are very modern (we're from LA) and this home is a lot older and just not modern. However, the home quickly grew on us and not long after we left we discussed how we missed the house! Just open a couple windows when you first get there.... Minus the older factor, the house was very clean, especially the linens, bathroom, and living areas. The dining room table was huge and it was perfect for monoploy, wine glasses, wine bottles, and a couple of cheese and cracker platers! The couch was cozy and a few naps were defintiely taken on it. (They sure don't call it NAPa for nothing!!) The kitchen was pretty fully equiped excepted for one thing... cereal bowls!!!! ;) One other negative note..the backyard..pretty useless honestly, but to give Juliana the benefit of the doubt...it is just the begining of spring and maybe it has just not been cleaned up from winter yet. However, the front porch was a delight! Overall, the trip was wonderful and this home really added to the overall uniqueness of the trip. We would all recommend choosing this home for your stay in Napa.
Owner response:Thanks for the kind review, Brittany. And yes, we are in the process of re-doing the back yard, rose garden and planting areas! I've been out campaigning for office, so not home much till after June 5. I'll see about getting some cereal bowls that coordinate with the old china pattern. -- Juliana

We had a very nice stay at the Fox Cottage. The home is very roomy and the beds were very comfortable. The location was great and in walking distance to many restaurants in downtown Napa. The home is historic and cute.

Another couple and my husband and I make yearly trips to different places. We had looked at many VRBO's and decided on this looked like a good "landing" spot. We were very pleased with everything about the home. The location, the room, the owners...it was all great. If you have never been to the Napa Valley, make sure you put it on your "Bucket List". We were there just a couple of weeks ago and already miss it. A great place to stay at a very reasonable price. Lots of charm and character.
Owner response:Thanks for the review, Cindy! It was great having you as guests. Juliana

This cottage was the perfect place for me and my husband plus another couple to stay while in Napa. The pictures and description that you read on Home Away are accurate – what you see is what you get. The size of the cottage was perfect for the 4 of us. We utilized the living and dining rooms for hanging out, when we weren’t exploring wineries! We could not have asked for a better place to call home while visiting Napa. Thanks for a wonderful time!
Owner response:Thanks for the very kind review, Piper! So nice having you visit Napa, and hope you can return.

Enjoyed out trip to Fox Cottage & Napa Splendor. Each winery was unique, every meal was perfection. Thank you so much for sharing your home. Some of our favorites: Far Niente, Rubicon, Artesa, Kuleto, Schramsberg, Gundlach-Bundschu Cafe Jeanty - the best french food around and of course Bouchon Stop at St. Helena Olive Oil Company (main store on 29) and pick up some great olive oils to take home Eat local! The cheeses from this area are a treat. Thanks again,

We had a wonderful stay at the Fox Cottage. It was very nice to be able to come back here and relax in the evenings. We enjoyed introducing our daughter to wine country. Some of our favorites were Mumm's (for some early morning champagne), Pine Ridge Winery, Robert Biale Winery, Andretti Winery, and Castello Di Amorosa. The Norman Rose Tavern by far the most enjoyable meal. All around good food, and excellent service. We had several people recommend Mustard's to us. The food was good, but our server had no personality, which made for a not so great time there. Thanks, John, Sherry & Katie - Tupelo, MS

We have enjoyed our stay at Fox Cottage for our "Just turned 40 Girls weekend". Had a wonderful private tour guide Brian w/ "A Limo Excursion & Wine Tours". He had us scheduled for 2 private tours, Porter Family Vineyards and Tournesol. Both were fantastic. Definitely recommend the tour service, we would never have found either on our own. We also visited Far Niente, wonderful experience and Sterling. The views were worth every penny! Thank you for everything. Jennifer J., Shelly M., Kerstin H., Becky H.

My girlfriends and I loved the cottage! It was wonderful to have more space than we would have in a hotel room to hang out - we spent a lot of time on the couches catching up. Very comfy beds (unfortunately, I spent half the trip sick and can really attest to that). :( We didn't get to take full advantage of the kitchen like we planned because there were so many tempting restaurants down the street, but it would have been easy to because it was well-appointed and the Safeway was within walking distance. Juliana also had lots of extra provisions in the bathroom - big bottles of shampoo, body wash, etc. - that were nice to have. She was fantastic - so helpful!
Owner response:Thank you, Morgan. It was such a pleasure having you visit Napa! We are so glad you felt "at home" while you were ill. Hope to see you again soon. All the best, Juliana

What a wonderful place to stay on our trip to Napa! Fox Cottage met our needs perfectly with plenty of entertainment room, large table, and abundant wine glasses! It was cozy and comfortable and only a short walk to downtown! We would definitely want to stay here again if we travel to Napa!

A recent guest logged a negative comment that I have disapproved. The City of Napa passed a Vacation Rental Ordinance in May 2009 that specifically states in section 17.53.515(K)4.f "... Quiet times shall be 9pm - 7am Sunday through Thursday evenings and 10pm - 7am Friday and Saturday evenings." A code enforcement officer has been hired to enforce this and other regulations. Other jurisdictions in Napa County do not allow vacation rental homes. This is now the law for Napa, and house rules have been revised to meet the City ordinance. Sometimes guests do not realize how much noise they are making. In four years, we have had two instances when guests have been reminded to move inside after 10pm. Normal speaking voices do not cause a problem, but loud partying does. These guests were requested to move inside due to the noise they were making, and as a result were not happy.

We had a great stay & loved Fox Cottage! That front door can be tricky after a few bottles of wine... B. We had a wonderful girls weekend in Napa! Fox Cottage made our stay even better - it was a taste of the "locals life" in wine country. It will be remembered. K. Loved Fox Cottage! Perfect setting for a girl's getaway. We enjoyed the backyard in the afternoon and close we were to downtown Napa! A.

We had a great time spending our well deserved Mother's Day weekend away from our demanding families and jobs. It was a great getaway. The home is very comfortable. We didn't want for anything. The beds really were to die for - very comfortable. The home itself has great history and charm. We enjoyed the relaxing and comfortable furnishings too. The home is in a great location too. We walked to Ben & Jerry's our last night for dessert. Yum. We enjoyed meeting and chatting with you when we arrived. Coincidence in the twin thing. Mom's rule!
