There are extensive gardens for guests on both sides of the building, as well as an orchard and courtyard animals (horse, ponies, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, rabbits and dogs).
The building faces south and has views out over our farmland, with a river and the Colli Berici hills to the west side, the Villa courtyard garden to the north side and our 15 acres of Vineyards to the east.
Places to visit: The historic town Vicenza is only 17km from the farm & there is a cycle track to the centre for approximately 9km. The apartment was very comfortable, perfect for a family with small children. The satellite TV, DVD player & stereo made life easier when it rained. The kitchen was very well equipped and there were lots of great places to go out for dinner, the Italians all take their children out with them which was a nice change and made our evenings much more enjoyable. There were lots of places to go and visit close by, we stayed for nearly two weeks and still didn't get to see everything. We had a great time staying over new year, we even joined in a local new years party which was great fun. looking forward to coming back soon. Henry, Caroline, Sarah & Freya Iddon. Blackpool, England. Comfortable, nice showers, enough towels, good beds, very complete kitchen. Nice surroundings, beautiful hills, well located to the A4 highway. We like the fire outside. You've been very helpful and kind. We like the fresh eggs !! Ambra Walstra & friends from HollandDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 10/12

Bref des vacances tip-top !!Owner response: Glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. Phil and Silvy

We are about to make our 6th visit to Palazzo Rosso and can't wait.Usually its my wife and I,but this year we are a party of 6 plus a new grandson. The location is so good for all of the Veneto cities, but drive a little further to Lake Garda or up to South Tyrol for something different. If you don't want that sort of holiday, just laze around the pool. Eat in (there is a big supermarket close by). Dine out at a very good selection of eateries nearby. Our hosts,Phil and Silvi, always give far more than expected of their time and attention (considering this is a working farm) and have never failed to direct us to great places not found in guide books. Visit once and you'll be regulars like us.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

We stayed in the one bedroom apartments in June this year and the quality of both the accommadation and service was great. Even though the apartments are set in a rural surroundings the road to the town means it is only 5 mins away but when you wouldn't know. The spec and rustic restoration of the old farm house was higher than our expectation and with air con. key card entry it was a safe environment to stay in. The apartment was one bedroom but not too small, we enjoyed breakfast on the patio in the morning and could of used the BBQ it we wanted to. The pool was so clean and new and relaxing to sit around in the daytime. The family and dogs were very friendly and if we just wanted a walk around the field in the evening we could do so. Within a ten min drive we found local pizzerias, restaurants and take aways. There was a wine shop across the road if you wanted to buy local fizz - 2-4 euros and enjoy a night on the patio watching the sun set. Would recommend to families and couples alike.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

This was our second stay at Palazzo Rosso and was every bit as good as was anticipated, the addition of the swimming pool is great and the various other added touchs are excellent. It is difficult to add to the other reviews, as everything seems to have been said!!, but we can endorse all the good things that have been said about the place. Phil & Silvy are superb hosts and we would recommend Palazzo Rosso to anyone who was thinking of visiting the Vicenza areaRecommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, sightseeing.

Myself and wife Norma had a lovely two weeks in apartment 4. Palasso Rosso is gorgeous, as are the two hosts, Phil and Silvia. We still didn't see as much as we expected - Verona and Padua/Padova next time! Loved the fifteen minute scenic walk to the local pizzeria,(closed on Tuesdays as our first walk there revealed) Oh to be back. Ciao.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

We stayed at the Palazzo Rosso for a week in late June as part of an 8 week tour of Italy using a variety of hotels and self-catering accommodation. This easily the best run and most relaxed of all our stops, matching and exceeding the description supplied on the website. Despite being Europe's two busiest people, Phil and Silvy always had time to answer any queries we had and to offer advice on what to see, how to get there and where to eat when we arrived. From the relaxed method of checking in to the free use of the laundry room, very useful to us after a few weeks on the road, it was so refreshing to be treated like grown-ups and without any fuss. Our apartment was clean and, although the smallest in the building (our choice), comfortable, well planned and equipped. The barn itself is beautiful and the conversion has retained its charm perfectly. Outside, the huge loggia is a brilliant use of space and very handy when the weather turns wet, which it did for a couple of days. The pool was very welcome after a long day out and about, it was a treat to float around admiring the views across the fields to the hills. The surrounding area is packed with villages, villas and towns to visit, it is easy to reach Verona, Padua and even Venice from here either by train or car whilst enjoying the benefit of being based in the countryside. Vicenza itself is a very beautiful city just down the road and if you are at a loss as to what to do during your stay just wander into the reception area which is packed with enough suggestions and information to keep you occupied for an entire summer. And there are free eggs. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Palazzo Rosso and wished we had booked for longer. The accommodation, management, surroundings and variety of attractions within easy reach make this a great destination for almost any type of traveller of any age and we would certainly recommend it. But please, don't all turn up at once, we want to go back ourselves.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children, people with disabilities.

We stayed in apartment 4 for a week at the end of June and had a wonderful, [and very warm!] visit. Philip and Silvey were great hosts who shared lots of good information with us and made us feel at home. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and with the heat, the quiet air conditioner got us through some hot nights. Fresh eggs and fruit were available for the guests - a nice touch. Took a bike ride into Vicenza and enjoyed the Palladian architecture.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

The accommodation was ideally situated for excusions to Venice,Verona, Padova,Vincenza and the many villages in the surrounding countryside. The kitchen was well equipped for travellers that want to cater for themselves and there were also restaurants close by if you desired to eat out. The bedroom was comfortable although the configuration of the apartment did make it feel a bit cramped at times. Excellent free laundry facilities which are essential for tourists on the "move". The pool, barbeque and outdoor eating facilities were clean and well maintained .The free use of bikes was a bonus and provided a great way to explore the surrounding area in a relaxed manner or take the bike track to Vincenza ( however the provision of helmets would have been appreciated) I would recommend this accommodation when visiting this area as the owners provided excellent customer service and the property was very well maintained. It was good value for money when we stayed in June 2010.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks for the suggestion, we will get some helmets for the guests. Phil and Silvy

Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: I must get around to studying German, I managed to translate it using google, thanks to Gabi and Bodo.

About the owner: Hi I am Phil. My wife Silvy and I have owned and managed our 400 acre farm since 1992 when I moved to Italy from the UK. We started to rent out one apartment in 2002 and enjoyed having people around so much that we decided to restore a huge old 17th century barn and farm house which we turned into 6 holiday rental apartments.
Why the Owner Chose Vicenza:
We were lucky enough to inherit Palazzo Rosso Farm from my wife Silvy's family.
The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse:
Our guests love to come and stay at Palazzo Rosso because they can enjoy the benefits of being close to many beautiful places such as Venice, Verona, Padova, Mantova and Vicenza and at the same time when they want to relax they can sit back and enjoy the farm location and beautiful surroundings at Palazzo Rosso.
