Conde Nast continues to rate San Miguel de Allende as one of the top ten destinations.

The rental includes a wonderful cook with a large repertoire of Mexican Dishes. (write for Menus) The owner lives on property adjacent to the house, and is available to help with any problems you may have...a distinct advantage over arriving to an empty house with keys and a sheet of instructions! Airport transfers available too!

Within a quiet and enclosed community, you arrive at this large colonial house, with impressive carved stone facades and ironwork, a huge outside green area with grass, cactus, avocado, lemon, and pepper trees. Go back along the shaded walk to a very private entrance, where you enter the house with a unique and interesting floor plan; including a sunny formal living room, an impressive foyer, a large formal dining room with seating for eight persons, a spacious and beautiful kitchen with its own large table for informal dining, an arboretum with banana trees, ficus, bougainvillea, a 100 year-old pool table, plus a very comfortable adjoining den.

Walk up the impressive stone 'flying stairway' past a 20 foot cathedral window looking into a patio with a flower lined fountain and a beautiful tile-lined spa (easily holding eight persons) with old columns supporting the tile roof. At the top of the stairs admire the cupola and suspended chandelier, walk into the enormous master bedroom and adjoining dressing room and bath. The boveda covering part of the master bedroom is a unique design which lowers the ceiling, giving the feeling of a canopy over the bed. Also at the head of the stairs, you may enter the guest wing of the house, which has a sunny and extremely spacious bedroom, with a similar canopy boveda ceiling, fireplace with gas logs, and comfortable chairs for reading. The guest bath has a shower and is divided into 3 separate sections for the shower, washbasin, and commode. If there are more than 4 people in your party, there is a studio apartment with a queen size bed, TV/DVD, fridge, microwave and nice separate bath. No Children or Pets, please.

The entire house is a feast for the senses, with windows, light, and unending details... such as the lima-bean shaped tile bathtub in the master bedroom, the hand painted relief on the large arch spanning the kitchen, beautiful woodwork, stonework, arches, terraces, fountains, fireplaces, beamed ceilings, etc. The home has two Wurlitzer Juke boxes from the 30's and 40's (enjoy the lights but please do not play) a piano, an antique Brunswick solid oak pool table from the 20's, (please DO play!), Wet Bar, large outdoor grille, and patio furniture for outside dining. There is lots of comfortable furniture for just relaxing both indoors and out.

The staff includes a very capable and sweet cook, an upstairs maid who washes and irons linens and personal laundry, (personal laundry can also be left at the full service laundromat one block from the house) gardener, and a gatekeeper. Your locaton is perfect to take advantage of all the activities in this interesting city. Cozy studio apartment also available on the premises for additional guests in your party. Secure parking is available.

This was our second VRBO in SMA and this Casa was vastly superior. The location being so close to everything could not be beat. The host was available always but not obtrusive. Our meals were very good, Delores made the meals, left them on the stove so we could enjoy a quiet evening at home (of course after the killer Margueritas). Lovely home made soups and an extensive menu to make your choices for food. The home is large, we toured to Guanjuato and Delores Hidalgo. Only difficulty here is availability because of its popularity.

So many things made this vacation special. Let's start with the host, who was so generous with his time, advice, deciphering, helping, etc. He's the very best and certainly made our stay easy & comfortable. The house was so beautiful and so well equipped that we felt right at home...down to the dog who couldn't (& wouldn't) go past the courtyard gate to the cat who welcomed us in the courtyard every morning. Loved having a pool table and hot tub! The cook (we really should call her a chef) was over the top with her homemade guacamole, special salads, and everything else she cooked for us. We rarely ate out because her meals were so darn good. The maid kept everything clean, made our beds, and even washed my husband's slacks & shirt. Don't miss out on this place...it's a jewel.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We joined two other couples in the exploration of San Miguel and the surrounding area during the Day of the Dead celebration. One of the best parts of this extraordinary week was the stay at Casa Jack. From the welcoming margaritas and guacamole, to the exquisite Mexican decor, this was a beautiful home with an excellent staff who cared for any of our needs. Jack was a wonderful resource on sight-seeing in the city and a capable guide for our day trips. The house has a great location for walking in the city, many comfortable living spaces for a group and a extraordinary garden courtyard. We hope to return some day!

We were struck immediately by the warm greeting of our host when he picked us up at the Leon airport. He provided the preview for our stay in San Miguel. Everyone we encountered, from host to house staff to people in the community, did his or her very best to make us feel welcome in such a gracious way. Jack, our host, was always willing, without being intrusive, to help with information, restaurant recommendations, transportation for day trips, etc. We found the food, whether eaten in or out, to be absolutely delicious. The house was large with beautiful interior and patio spaces - plenty of comfortable places to relax. Since it's centrally located, walking to get around the city was no problem, although comfortable shoes are a must. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in San Miguel de Allende, and would enthusiastically recommend this home to future visitors.

Our group. three couples, rented this house for the Day of the Dead celebration in early November. This spacious, comfortable house was perfect for us, giving each couple areas of privacy as well as cozy gathering rooms. The owner, Jack, has his residence within the compound, so he was available to provide transportation, make recommendations, shop for our grocery needs -- in general provide everything we needed to have a comfortable, hassle free vacation. His unforgettable margaritas and guacamole upon arrival became an evening ritual on the lovely enclosed patio. We requested that breakfast be provided as well as lighter fare for lunches. The fabulous cook made sure we ate well. The location was perfect for walking to all areas of interest in San Miguel and the gated neighborhood provided a good sense of security. Leaving Jack, his pets, and his staff was almost like saying goodby to family. We will be back!

The elaborate description of this property, and especially the people with this hacienda, is completely true. We had two wonderful weeks and daily tennis at nearby red-clay courts, making friends with local players. The art throughout San Miguel is quite stimulating and accessible. The local lay of the land was well provided by the owner, who is a wonderful character. Our cook was quite special, completing a glorious experience. Don't miss this opportunity!

We introduced two couples to San Miguel, a town where we lived for several years. Their trepidation, never having been to parts of Mexico not on the coast, was immediately swept away once we entered the house. The owner, a gregarious gentleman, met us at the Leon airport and that was the beginning of 12 perfect days. The staff, Blanca & Dolores were professional and accommodating. the food superb and the house pin neat. The house is centrally located with easy access to the Jardin and the pulse of the city. The appointments are such that you can feel the joy of the Mexican family that inhabited it for so many years. Perhaps the best endorsement is that we return as soon as we can and invite other of our "Gringo" friends to join in The House. The Carter's Flat Rock, N.C. . gentleman

This was my husbands and I’s 3rd trip to San Miguel. We came down this time with another couple who had never been to Mexico. We chose this property mainly because of the owner being willing to take us on tours, location, and thought it would be fun having a cook. It ended up being so much more than that. The house was absolutely beautiful, we had plenty of room with many beautiful places to relax. The food was amazing. What really made our trip was the owner. As the other couple said “It’s like staying with a friend”. He was there for anything we needed and I mean anything. He took us on tours, picked us up at the bus station and dropped us off, took care of some medical needs we had (this was above and beyond). He was always polite, you never felt like you were intruding or asking too much. Thank you for everything, we hope to see you again soon.

Along with a group of friends, my husband I spent 10 warm wonderful days at this property. The owner was an important part of our enjoyment - he had lots of tips and took up on day trips to interesting spots outside of San Miguel. While in town we walked everywhere. We found colourful markets, amazing restaurants, and music galore. We had some meals at home, all beautifully prepare, but venture out for some lunches and dinners. As a celiac, I was in the land where corn is king so could not have more choices. Could not recommend this spot more highly and happy to give a personal 5 star salute. (And if you go, perhaps my photo book will be on display - I am making one in honour of our visit to San Miguel.
