Most people picture in their minds their “Dream” Vacation condo, right on a sandy beach with spectacular views and magnificent sunrises and sunsets. They could swim in front, or take a walk on miles of pristine, un-crowded beach. My 1,050 sq. ft. Direct Beachfront, Ground Floor, Corner Condo could be what you're dreaming of. With so many to choose from, this is my chance to tell you what I think sets mine apart from the others.
Not many condos are this close to a sandy beach. In summer you can swim or snorkel right in front. In winter, watch the Whales from the lanai. When you walk in and see the view of the ocean from the living room, you will be delighted. When you go outside, the spectacular 180-degree views of Maui's entire south coast will take your breath away. Every morning, you can watch the sun come up over Haleakala. It is truly, an indescribable experience.
The previous owner was in a wheelchair. He was allowed to enlarge the doorways and the master shower. They are wider than normal. He was given permission to enlarge the lanai to accommodate his wheelchair, plus tables and chairs. It's twice the size of the others. Being on a corner, it extends beyond the normal lanais, increasing our views even further. It has two tables and six chairs instead of the normal four. With a larger group, everyone can be together. It is the only lanai that accommodates the lounges. Free parking is provided just steps from the condo.
The Kanai A Nalu has been rated the best vacation property in Maalaea. On a quiet cul-de-sac there is very little traffic. Our complex is one of three in Maalaea that is on the beach. The other seven are on a rocky reef. Many have distant parking lots and half have coin $$ operated laundry rooms. Two are next to the busy Maalaea Harbor, with its traffic, boat engine noise and fumes. Our property has its own in-unit washer and dryer, air conditioning, beautiful grounds, 4 BBQ's, one of the few heated pools, and a beachside shower. It’s directly on 4 miles of beach that runs parallel to a protected wildlife refuge. On a morning walk you may not run into another person. This is the most un-crowded beach on Maui. It's like your own private paradise.
Many condos have an upstairs "loft" bedroom, or a bedroom that is completely open to the living room and only closes with a flimsy folding wall. These offer no privacy or insulation from the noise of other guests. Our bedrooms are “traditional” rooms with solid walls and locking doors. In the master is a $2,600 "Sleep Numbers" King bed. Each side can be individually set to the desired firmness or softness of each guest. Two twin beds with pillow top mattresses in the second bedroom can be pushed together to create another king bed. Both bedrooms have ceiling fans and Cable TV. There is a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. We also have a portable crib. The condo comfortable sleeps six adults, plus small children.
Our Corner Condo is nothing like the "interior" units that share two common walls. They have only one window in their master, and their second bedroom window opens to the back facing either a busy walkway, allowing strangers to look in or the noisy parking lot. Our Corner Condo has NO NEIGHBORS ON ONE SIDE. It is quieter, more private and has incredible views of the beach from the front corner, master bedroom's wall-to-wall windows. Our second bedroom has views of the ocean, the tropical grounds and the pool.

The master bath has a walk-in, over sized, tiled shower. It has both a hand held and wall mounted showerhead. The other bathroom has a full size tub, sliding doors and a shower above. Both bathrooms have cooling ceiling fans, designer accessories and wall mounted hair dryers.
You also have a view of the ocean from the updated kitchen. It has everything. Full size stove, side-by-side fridge, icemaker, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, toaster oven, blenders, coffee maker, cookware, utensils, silverware, dishes, an iron and ironing board, dishtowels, iron & ironing board and a washer and dryer.

Hi, my name is Diane. After vacationing on all the different islands for the past 19 years, Maui turned out to be my favorite. I had stayed all over the island, but found Maalaea as my favorite location on Maui. It is off the beaten track, away from the traffic and tourist areas that seem to attract crowds. I wanted a more peaceful and quiet spot. I discovered that the beach was the most uncrowded beach on the island. I was also very picky, and felt, if I could not buy an ABSOLUTE BEACH FRONT condo, I would continue looking. When I found this amazing unit, with a double sized lanai, and wall to wall windows in the master....I didn't care what the price was, I had to buy it. Now, I have my dream vacation spot, that I can share with my family and my guests.
Why the Owner Chose Maalaea
Please read what I wrote above. Maalaea is just what I was looking for. It has no crowds, less rain, more sun, cooling winds, and it is quiet. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!
The Unique Benefits of this Condo
The view is the most breathtaking I have every experienced. You walk in, and out to the large lanai, for a 180 degree view of the beach, and Maui's south shore. It is wonderful. I don't see the other condo's, just the sand and waves out front. If you don't believe me, just look at the virtual tour showing the view from the lanai. Then sleeping on a bed where I can adjust my side to be soft and listen to the waves just feet away, is great. Everything I need is at my condo. I have designed it, and stocked it so there is nothing else I need while staying there. It is beautiful and very comfortable.

Hi Diane. My families stay at your condo June 16 - 26 2007 was awesome. It was great to show up and see that the condo and location was just as you described it. It was beautiful and comfortable. I was lucky enough to spend 10 days here for a girls' getaway in January and fell in love with Maalaea. No crowds and a great community vibe. You can visit Kihei once for groceries and then live quite comfortably with daily walking ventures to the little Farmers' Market and the little store in the area. I loved it so much I came back again in April with my husband and teenage boys - sadly this condo was not available. We rented a place up the street on the 2nd floor and it was then that I realized that having the ground floor was well worth the extra cost. First, this complex is friendly! Because of the layout, every afternoon is a social event if you want. We met some really nice people from all over the US and every afternoon we looked forward to getting home for 'happy hour' on the grass in front of the bbqs. The complex has great bbq's and lounge chairs that you can move around wherever you want on the grounds (the place we stayed in April kept the chairs only in the pool area). Every morning, my friend and I would sit out on the lanai and have our coffee and watch the sun rise over the volcano. For some reason, it is just better on the ground floor! It is nice to be able to walk right out into the view. Technically, the complex has 'beach access', but in reality the beach is very small and when the tide is up there is no beach at all. That is an important thing to know. The real beach is just a short walk down the street, or at low tide - down the beach. The condo itself is decent. Diane was a great landord - we had a little issue with the slider and the on-island contact was not availabe and Diane made sure everything was taken care of. We appreicated that. The kitchen has everything you need and we appreciated that previous vacationer's ketchup, salad dressing, soy sauce, etc was in the fridge so we didn't have to restock just to cook. The decor and appliances are...'well loved', but comfortable. The Sleep Number bed in the master was interesting but I never could figure out what was firm and what was soft. Still, I slept like a baby every night. We hesitated at first to rent the condo because the rates were a bit higher than other condos. It was worth it. I would come back again.

MY FAMILY STAYED AT THIS PROPERTY LATE MAY 2010. THE LISTING DESCRIPTION WAS VERY ACCURATE, PROPERTY WAS VERY CLEAN AND WELL MAINTAINED. GREAT COMMUNICATION FROM THE OWNER AND THE ON SIGHT BUILDING SUPERVISOR. GREAT LOCATION AWAY FROM THE MADDENING CROWDS, BUT CENTRAL TO ALL THE ATTRACTIONS OF THE ISLAND. IT ALWAYS FELT GOOD RETURNING TO THE CONDO AND THE SECLUSION OF THE LANAI (which is extra large) THE BEST PART OF THE TRIP WAS HAVING THE EASY ACCESS TO THE BEACH AND BEING ABLE TO SWIM, AND/OR BODYSURF IN FRONT OF THE LANAI AS WELL AS BEING ABLE TO TAKE LONG WALKS ALONG THE BEACH. THE BEACH BUM RESTAURANT IS A VERY NICE PLACE TO GET A GREAT MEAL AND TASTY DRINKS, SERVERS WERE FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL WITH RECOMMENDATIONS. BEACH BUMS IS LOCATED IN THE MAALAEA VILLAGE COMPLEX OVERALL, THIS CONDO PROVIDED US WITH EVERYTHING WE WISHED AND MORE! MY FAMILY INCLUDING 2 YOUNG ADULTS LOVED THIS PLACE. Our morning started before 6Am each day..so we didn't miss a single sunrise..We would sit sipping our coffee on the lanai watching the ocean and waiting for our day in paradise to begin. We will always cherish our daily walks along the ocean to the pier at Sugar Beach. There is no better way to clear your head!!! Our 22 month old grand-daughter had her own private beach and is still asking when we are going to the condo and to the beach. We have spend many years going to Maui but this location is by far the most peaceful,beautiful beyond words and perfect for the entire family...Having a "real" beachfront walkout truly allows you to feel like you are indeed "living the dream". We were entertained daily by our "resident" seal and the whales, although a bit further out, still put on quite a show!!! my family and i stayed in unit 117 in maalaea, the listing posted was more than we expected it was right on the beach like listed and more beautiful than ever.the pictures were just like being there,the unit was very clean and everything you could need from kitchen to bath ,games and movies and feeling just like home.the property was very clean all amenities were close pool, bbq and yes the beach.the owner diane was so helpful and sweet, she answered all of our questions and made us feel very comfortable.we have already told lots of friends about this listing and have one friend who is going to book a trip next spring we did yhe road to haha very beautiful lots of old maui, the town of kihei had lots of fun shops and good places to eat the tiki restaurant was great,right near the unit is the beachcombers restaurant very good. all in all we had the time of our lives we are planing a trip for next year and will stay at this condo,i dont think it gets any better! diane my family an i would like to thank you for sharing a peace of heaven with us. bev hultz seattle wa

Our stay was incredible. I didn't know the view would be that beautiful. The condo felt like home. It was clean and the perfect size for us. One of my favorite parts was having that stretch of private beach. We took walks several mornings for a couple miles. Truly paradise!

What a wonderful place. This was our third trip to Maui and our second to Maalaea Bay. We enjoyed this trip the most. This condo #117 has it all! Perfect location, spectacular views, very well appointed with easy access to the beach, pool and BBQ's. The whales were very active and we spent many hours on the lanai enjoying them. It was truly a pleasure dealing with Diane. One person in our group of four requires a "scooter". There was lots of room and the handicap accessibility helped immensely.
