My family and I stayed at the Butlers for 10 days in September when visiting my brother who lives n Colchester. The house was fantastic, settings are gorgeous, private and very clean, situated just 5 mins from the I95 so very easy to get around CT. The Butlers were very friendly and accommodating and were in constant communication before we traveled as we were worried about the power outages and offered us alternative solutions if we wanted to change our flights. I would highly recommend this property to anyone staying in CT and my family and I will definitely be booking again for next year.

My husband and I stayed at this lovely cottage from 7/10/11-7/14/11. We needed to be in the area because we were attending several productions at the O'Neill Theater (a fantastic experience!). The location was perfect for us because it was close to the O'Neill Theater, and to beautiful beaches and parks. The home itself is comfortable with every amenity provided. The multi-level back decks provide a quiet private outdoor space and look out at a spectacular view of the Niantic River. The decks are situated among old leafy trees and so you feel you are truly alone in the woods. The hosts were warm, friendly and very professional. They were available to respond to any and all requests. We would highly recommend this rental and would stay there again if we are in the area.

My wife and I stayed here for one week in July. The place was comfortable and had a nice view. Our hosts were helpful and pleasant. My brother brought his boat up to the dock and we had lots of fun going on the Niantic River and out into the sound. Mark Rose

The Oswagatchie property is beautiful with a multi-tiered deck leading to the Niantic River (a tidal river). I enjoyed all the amenities of home in a well-kept, pretty little house. I immediately felt comfortable and happy and will be sure to book early when I return, which I plan to do.

We had a delightful weekend in May while our daughter graduated from a nearby college. The view of the river and the dock were an added bonus to the cozy house. The Butlers were professional, welcoming, and easy to work with.

A home away from home is what we found at 13 A Oswegatchie Road. Pat and Jack Butler's guest house has it all. Wonderful hosts, spectacular views, and a fully equipt guest house. This location on the shore of one of Connecticuts most scenic rivers provides wonderful vistas regardless of the season. We have enjoyed our visits and look forward to returning.

What a cute guest house and what a wonderful view! We enjoyed the stay with our 17 month old daughter. Even if you have someone in your party who has to take a nap at noontime there are still plenty of things to see and do in the area. The Butlers gave us a very warm welcome and even provided a high chair and toys for our little one. She would have adopted them as Grandparents right away.

We stayed here when we visited our son at the Coast Guard Academy. This is a delightful little home close to the Academy. The Butlers were so considerate and thoughtful, they even had the "Semper Paratus" ring on their doorbell for our stay. The place was very clean, and the view is amazing. We definitely want to stay here again.

We are very happy to have found this wonderful Oswegatchie-house which we used as our base while visiting our daughter in Waterford and discovering US and Connecticut for the first time. The Butler family showed us warm and respectful hospitality with lots of practical advise for daytrips both to museums, villages and whatever questions we came up with! Every other morning we went jogging in the neighbourhood, then took breakfast on the deck with a vue over the river and in company of curious squirrels and exotic birds. The television was the last resort for our 15-years-old son so he (and we!) could attend the European soccer championship - even if Sweden didn't succeed very well! We cooked in the kitchen, had dinner outside on the deck, washed our clothes, slept in comfortable beds - all we needed! From this house "everything" is close (marvellous beaches, New York, Boston, Cape Cod) and we warmly recommend this cottage! Maria, Johan and Jacob from Sweden

Exceeded our expectations with whatever we needed available. Quiet neighborhood setting with beautiful views and decks on the river. Only 7 minutes from the Coast Guard Academy making it perfect for Graduation week and family party afterwards. Cottage is well maintained and the LL on premisis to answer any questions and welcome you for your stay. We give them "Five Stars" for the accomodations, communication, setting,& friendliness.

This guest house is right on the Niantic River with gorgeous views. I truly enjoyed the month I spent here even though the weather was not warm enough to take advantage of the river. The house is very well equipped and well furnished. The location is private but central; supermarket, shops and restaurants are only a few-minute drive away. I will definitely come back when I am in the eastern CT area. Thank you very much for a wonderful stay!

Great spot for people relocating to the area. I moved down from Canada to work for Pfizer and needed a furnished, utilities included place to stay while I looked for a permanent spot. Satellite tv, great views, quiet, well furnished, and good landlords! Overall, extremely comfortable and ready to move in.

We will always remember our brief stay at the Oswegatchie house as our visit to the treehouse. It sits on a cliff above the Niantic River with beautiful views of the water and surrounded by treetops. We were able to enjoy a much needed three days of rest, reading, relaxation and a little bit of kayaking and exploring the area. We hope we can plan another stay in this beautiful, very comfortable house.

Ours was a spur of the moment decision. I was on a short visit to the US, with hectic lives was looking for a vacation to unwind... Spotted this place while searching the net and was quite drawn towards it. It was the ideal place we were looking for and lived up every bit of it. Though our stay was short (1week) we thoroughly enjoyed it, the serene ambience, the scenic view, the vicinities and the various activities connecticut could offer. Would like to thank the Butlers for not only their warmth and hospitality but for having taken us on such short notice. Was a memorable vacation that we'll cherish for sometime. Yes we would love to come back, someday...

For the job that I do, I travel alot within the US. I'm very glad when I can find a house to stay in instead of a hotel. This house not only made me feel at home, but had a beatiful view of the Niantic. There are several things to do that I heard about, but I didn't get a chance to do on this trip. Luckily, I'll be returning, and I really hope that I can stay in this beautiful house again and have the chance to take in all the sights!

As the English would do, we stayed here over New Year 2006/7. We enjoyed fabulously sunny days (as opposed to the snow we were told to expect), touring the many maritime museums on the coast. The house is a fine venue, both for touring through Connecticut and Rhode Island and for enjoying the tranquillity of the river from the private deck. Even in early January 2007 we were able to enjoy an evening glass of wine looking out at the river and the bird life. We cooked every night and appreciated the full complement of cooking and dining equipment. Of the many maritime delights, we highly recommend the United States Coastguard Academy Museum in New London, the International Yacht Restoration School in Newport, Rhode Island, the Connecticut River Museum in and the Lighthouse Museum in Stonington. All the museums and maritime centres are open in the New Year and, like the deserted beaches for great walking, are not crowded. We warmly recommend this house in Oswegatchie, both for its own qualities and the welcoming and supportive nature of its owners, who could not have done more for us. Pamela and Adrian Underwood

We stayed chez Oswegatchie for almost 4 months this past fall. We had a wonderful stay, enjoying beautiful scenery, comfortable accomodations, and accomodating and welcoming hosts. As we were in the area for work rather than vacation, we required the practicalities one would need in a more permanent home (cooking stuff, etc). We had everything we needed. We would recommend this home to anyone visiting the New London area, finding the combination of its quiet and serene setting with its proximity to shopping and other practicalities to be pretty much perfect.

What a beautiful place! We stayed a week - traveled around the countryside everyday and enjoyed the serenity of the deck and river-watching at dusk. The house is very comfortable - we didn't cook but know everything was available for our use if we had wished to. Highly recommended as a great central spot for vacationing in and around the Connecticut waterfront.

We stayed here for Labor Day Weekend. The accomodations are perrect. The house seemed as it was brand new. It was clean, comfortable and relaxing. Although many guests probably do not, we utilized the kitchen quite a bit which was stocked with everything that needed in terms of equipment. The deck is amazing with a beautiful view of the river. Unfortunately the weather was bad all weekend, so we couldn't enjoy the deck to its fullest. The location is also great. We used it as a base to visit Mystic, Foxwoods, outlets and more. There is a ton to do all within 20 minutes of the house. The owners were also very nice. Due to the bad weather all weekend, they even offered for us to stay an extra night which unforutnately we couldn't because of work the next day. This guest house comes highly recommended.

While we would like to keep this wonderful vacation spot a secret it would be unfair to the hosts and future guests. Everything about the guest house is first class. The accomadations are excellent. The location puts you right in the middle of everything. And, at the same time,if you wish, you can kick back and enjoy the serenity of the decks and the river view. We so enjoyed our stay we are looking forward to future visits.

It is an amassing place to stay in. The house is very nice . The view on the patio is just unbelievable to wake up to , eat breakfast or just relax to. Love the fact that there is access to the river. The location is great as well, there are different state parks within minutes away for day time , as well casinos for nightlife.

We stayed at the house in September and it was spectacular. The house is new and beautiful and the view is amazing. We went kayaking from the dock at the house and had a great time. We'd definitely recommend this house to anyone looking to stay in the area.

We stayed at the guesthouse over Labor Day weekend and found it to be a delightful place with nice furnishings, great utilization of space. The living areas are on the second floor and there is MAJOR decking that runs from this floor down to the dock. While the guesthouse is right next to the owner's residence, we felt like we had quite a bit of privacy. A fence runs along the decking that is about 6 ft high so there is good privacy on the side. My husband and I both thought that this house was more private than a stand-alone house we had rented on a lake the previous year. The dock is shared between the house and the guesthouse, but we found that the owners were very respectful of our privacy when we used it. On the other hand, if you do want to talk with the owners, you will find that they too are delightful. Definitely this is one for our "will return" book.
