This charming bungalow with traditional grass roof and warm timber furnishings will be adored by garden lovers and those who love rustic organic surroundings. It is located in a lush botanical secret garden hidden away from the main road. The reality is better than the photos provided. We were greeted with a large tropical fruit platter and fresh flowers in the bungalow. You won't get this unique extra detail in a hotel. One can hear the sound of the waves at night from the bed. The beach is too rough to swim in but the calm sparkling Temae Beach lagoon is a 10-15min stroll away. The property pool is not available for guest use. Do not be put off by its proximity to the airport, it only services small planes occassionally and sounds like helicopter in the distance. A rental car or bicycle will be needed to travel around.Owner response: Thank you for the nice appreciation I hope so you have a good trip sincerely JK

Peace, tranquility, love& light is what we rediscovered sharing this most joyous experience in Moorea. The gracious & generous hosts of this perfect property, Joselyne and Alain are truly special souls. Our "fare" (bungalow) is nestled amidst tall coconut trees with a stretch of private sea property right out its front door; offering the calm and soothing sounds of gentle waves. A quick 3 minute drive brings one to the uncrowded lagoon where one immerses oneself in its pristine, crystal clear water. There, the eyes feast on the panorama of Moorea's 3 breathtaking mountains boasting intense lush, green fauna filled with pineapple groves of the sweetest taste sensation known to mankind. Papayas, huge green grapefruits, passion fruits and delectable coconuts are abound. The smell of dried, burning coconuts and twigs keep the air clean of early morning mosquitos. The charming, clean and cozy "fare" is equipped with a well appointed kitchen with a stone fire pit right off the outdoor dining room porch where we cooked fish, meats and island vegetables. We spent much time cooking and sharing our dinners by candle light, every night. Here is where romance was born, dancing effortlessly from morning 'til night and then some.... This is what life is. Simplicity. Honesty. Love in its purest form. Reconnect with yourself and your partner. You cannot help but slip easily and steadily into its warm embrace. Renting a car is mandatory for complete autonomy where one may cruise around the boundaries of this islands paradise. Marine specialists will guide you by boat through a day filled with heart-happy, exhilarating experiences such as swimming with the soft, silky coated sting rays, black tailed sharks and exotic fish of all sizes and colors of the rainbow. Whale sightings in high season are quite common. Dolphins are forever dancing for you showing you how happy and unspoiled life is. We are a highly travelled Italian couple now living in Scottsdale Arizona with a successful, thriving and of course, stressful business which we run 11 months of the year. Moorea and this most prefect, unique place on earth helped remind us once again of the many blessings and gifts of life. Peace, tranquility and pure love. You MUST experience Moorea...and staying on this property of dear Joselyne and Alain will most certainly guarantee it!!! P.S. They are the most gifted artists, with their jewelry boutique filled with extraordinary, hand crafted treasures!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Our unique bungalow possessed a rustic charm which was idyllic and gorgeous to stay in, a romantic hide-away from the world just like something out of a fairy tale story book. Our recent stay as guests in this private relaxingly picturesque beach location was just wonderful on the family friendly Island of Moorea. This Moorea location combined with the immense sweetness of its two hosts allows guests to maximize their vacation time at will. Guest like us, chose to unwind from city stress and soak-up the pure atmosphere of staying in a remote paradise location. However we also planned some of our days with local adventure tours i order to make our stay complete. Throughout our (late December to end January stay) Moorea weather was very pleasant as we were recently blessed with many bright sunny days plus cool breezes regardless of the South Pacific wet season. As the temperate weather with expected but not overly heavy rainfall was surprising to say the least. A lot of perfect days on the beach were enjoyed by us. All-in-all our stay as Australian guests on Moorea at the Gold Nugget bungalow was pure tranquil bliss to us with many fond memories we hope to return someday soon.Did you find this review helpful? I have traveled the world and am not one to travel the "road well traveled". I feel sorry for those who settle for the "5 star hotel route" when they could have enjoyed this idyllic location and all its natural ambiance . . . . for half the price and NO neighbors. Located in an ideal jungle setting just 80 yards from the pounding of the surf—you are within easy walking distance to the best snorkeling and white sands beach on the island (Temae). Purchased 35 years ago by Alain and Jocelyn Kerebel, this property enjoys one of the deepest beaches on the island. This is a beachcombers paradise, Because the reef is only a few yards from shore instead of a mile as in some places—you will have a front row seat to watch whales and dolphins as they pass by less than 50 yds from your feet. Nestled in a verdant jungle—I never saw a single bug or spider. There are NO snakes on the island or other unwanted critters other than the ubiquitous chickens which were left in 1790 by Capt Cook to proliferate and run wild. No need for an alarm clock the cocks all crow at 6:30 each morning . . . even at the "5 stars". Due to the morning and evening tradewinds—I didn't even see a mosquito until my stay was half over. The bungaloo—built by Alain in tasteful style and in keeping with local island architecture. Next door is Alain and Jocelyn's world famous boutique art gallery and handcrafted black pearl jewelry. Whether it is oil and canvas or some of the most remarkable heirloom 18 karat gold and pearl creations, you will be awed by the uniqueness of each piece. Their prices reflect what you would expect of a one-of-a-kind world-class jeweler, except that here you will receive so much more value for your dollar. Needless to say the property is very secure. I never had any concerns about my valuables while enjoying my stay. It is probably one of the more secure properties on the island. The bungaloo itself was more than advertised. Hot water anytime of the day, full internet with great bandwidth, a full size refrigerator and oven/stove allows you to cut dining by cooking locally caught fish such as mahi-mahi or tuna. It is centrally located to most dining, resort and tours and activities. The local "Walmart" style grocery store is about ten minutes away and adjacent to the ferry. The kingsize bed is firm and I enjoyed the 70 degree evenings with no discomfort. The biggest amenity are your hosts the Kerebels whose English and hospitality is both—in a word—superb.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 8/8

Did you find this review helpful? Did you find this review helpful?
