"ALMENARA" is a spectacular 100 year old mansion in the heart of Santa Barbara’s historic Upper East Side. This beautifully restored artist's estate has been featured on television and in print as one of the PREMIER PROPERTIES IN ALL OF SANTA BARBARA.

We invite you to stay in the mansion's charming 3RD STORY GUEST APARTMENT, featuring six dormer windows overlooking the famed Santa Barbara Mission and our own beautiful gardens.

The apartment has one bedroom, a kitchen and bath, an office and meditation area. The entrance is a shared entrance with the estate. You enter through a side door and then proceed up some backstairs. The apartment is quite large - over 800 sq. ft. The overall ceiling height is around 7ft. with shorter, gabled ceilings in the bedroom. So if you are a professional basketball player, you may be a little uncomfortable. For everyone else The Apartment at Almenara is a spacious, cozy and romantic retreat. A rare opportunity to experience Old-World elegance in historic Santa Barbara.

You will enjoy full access to Almenara's beautiful park-like grounds - including pool, gazebo, fountains, cottage treehouse and gardens. All this and more, behind gates, for the discerning guest.

  • Balcony: Beautiful veranda wraps around the estate. Guests are welcome to make themselves at home on the veranda which overlooks the Mission grounds, and St. Anthony's Seminary.
  • Gazebo: Great place for breakfast. The property has many garden hideaways to enjoy. There is also a charming Treehouse/Cottage on the property that the guests can use.
View/Location
  • Beach View: Okay - yes, there is a view of the Ocean, but there are many trees in the way.
  • Ocean View: The ocean is out there, beyond the trees, beyond the houses...about 2 miles away.
  • Mountain View: You can see the Santa Barbara mountains and the beautiful, historic Mission grounds.
Communications
  • WiFi (Wireless Internet): The entire property is set up for wireless. You should be okay to use your laptap in the garden as well as apartment.

Suitability
  • No Pets Allowed: We have a large dog, Mercedes, a 3 year old friendly Rotweiller, and a cat. Neither pet goes into the apartment. We have allowed pets in the past, but prefer that you leave Sparky at home and play with Mercedes if you are needing a Mutt fix.
  • Kid Friendly: Prefer adults, but we love kids, too. We will consider a 3rd person/child. But the apartment is not suitable for children under 8.
  • Not Suitable for Children: We'll consider one, lovable child over 8.
