A Hometown Paradise

I, my wife, and our two dogs (yes, I got permission) loved our stay. Although I haven't lived in Muskegon for 25 years, I grew up there. We returned for my parents' 50th and decided to rent the "Tree House" to ensure some privacy; however, we didn't expect the privacy the "Tree House" affords! Absolute quiet, beautiful views, wood stove with firewood, outdoor patio with fire "pit" & grill, comfortable furniture, and fully stocked kitchen! But, the best part was..no phone, no internet, no cable. It was so quiet and relaxing that I even began drafting the manuscript for a book that's been percolating in my mind for 2 years now. I'll be sure to send the owners a signed first edition!

1) The Muskegon location is convenient. You can make quick day trips to Grand Rapids, Holland, Grand Haven and Ludington. 2) If you want to get out, away from the private beach, there are many things to do and the owners provide a comprehensive binder for your review of local attractions & restaurants. There are numerous state parks within a very reasonable distance. We ended up visiting only two - Holland State Park and P.J. Hoffmaster State Park and would recommend both. For those with younger kids, Michigan Adventure is approximately 20 minutes away. We visited the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids (worth the hour trip!). There are also two paved bicycle trails (Musketawa and Hart-Montague), each roughly 25 miles long, within 20 minutes of the house. 3) As for the house itself, it was clean and the kitchen is well-equipped as shown. We cooked a number of meals rather than eating out all of the time and we we encountered few difficulties. 4) The house is secluded. So, if you are looking for something private, I expect you would like this property. 5) It is very dog friendly. There are short trails at the top of the bluff behind the house that you can use to walk a dog. 6) The hot tub was nice. We stayed at the location for two weeks and the hot tub service showed up each Friday which gave us comfort that it was being maintained properly. 7) The beach is very private, clean and the sand was really pleasant to walk on - few stones & sticks. We rarely encountered other people. 8) Although I had concerned about the lack of A/C for a late June rental, the breeze from the lake kept the house comfortable. However, one thing worth noting which was a source of disappointment for us.....From the pictures and description, we expected to have a better view of Lake Michigan. However, with the leaves having filled in the trees so completely, we could only catch small, partial glimpses of Lake Michigan. With that said, I expect the property would provide a better view if the trees were bare (late Fall, Winter, early Spring). We could hear the water though, which is always nice. Overall, the property is secluded, quiet and generally well cared for and well furnished.

Our Paridise

Please don.t let the climb up the many stairs stop you from discovering this heaven on earth! Clean, comfy, better than any fancy hotel. My new husband and I spent our honeymoon at the tree house, stranded without a car! We soon adapted from our hectic city life to walking down to the beach looking for shells, watching the most amazing sunsets, and swimming in beautiful lake Michigan. The shelf was filled with a lot of our favorite movies a perfect couch for napping. I still daydream about the sound of the lake at night and the rain hitting the trees as it fell. We did have friends pick us up for dinner and we didn't have far to travel. We can.t wait to return! We ended our vacation with a trip to Michigan Adventure.great fun!

We had an absolutely wonderful, relaxing time and loved the tree house. It was so cozy and felt friendly, the minute we walked in. Except for walking the beach and going out to eat, it was hard to get me to leave. I loved the feeling of being in the treetops, watching the birds and squirrels. We also had a raccoon come look in the bedroom window one night! Everything about this little cabin was just right and I hope we get the opportunity to return sometime.

The place was ok but the beach was worth driving to the west side of the state. I would have to agree with a past guest comment about the natural stair climber. Climbing 72 stairs up to the house and then having to walk 1/4 mile down to the beach and then another 45 stairs down to the beach was a workout in itself. I wouldn't recommend this place to the elderly or families with young children.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Tree House - it has fantastic panoramic views, comfortable furnishings and a gorgeous beach which our three young boys enjoyed immensely. The neighbors were very friendly as well ... thank you for a very memorable vacation!

Four of us enjoyed a snowy Thanksgiving at the Harmony Beach House. We made good use of the well-stocked kitchen. The Beach House is clean, well-designed, and nicely appointed with beautiful wood furniture and cabinets. There are many thoughtful touches throughout the house. We enjoyed several of the DVDs and games provided. We loved the wood-burning fire -- very cozy in the snow!

From the moment I walked into the beach house, I knew it was the right place for a long relaxing weekend. The fantastic view, close proximity to the beach and the cleanliness of the home exceeded all my expectations. The homeowner was excellent to work with, providing detailed maps and information. I'm looking forward to returning!
