My wife and I recently spent a week at this Summerwind cottage and as persons knowledgable about resort locations we must compliment the owners on providing an excellent get-a-way retreat, which provided a great location amidst a natural setting repleat with deer, racoons and a peaceful lagoon overlooking a well manicured golf course. This cottage is well equipped and will meet your expectations for a 5 star vacation.

A Trip To Paradise

My husband and I had the chance to sneak away and we really can't describe how wonderful our trip was. The Palm has everything you would want for yourself and family. VERY serene setting - you will relax the minute you set foot in the house. It's clean, well decorated and full of special touches. Here's just a few - very comfortable furniture, beautiful screened-in-porch with lots of seating, speakers inside and out, iPod port, free Wi-Fi, gaming system, movies and board games. Seabrook Island is truly breathtaking. We've been to many beaches/islands all along the NC & SC coast - this is by far one of the best. We didn't want to leave...can't wait to go back!

AWESOME! My husband and I needed an end of summer getaway. The owner was so friendly and accomadating. This place was just the spot! It is such a relaxed atmosphere. We loved how you could walk from the bedrooms and the living room to the enclosed deck. It is so relaxing out there, especially at night. Words cannot express how lovely this place is. We were trying to come again for our 30th anniversary, but it is not available. We will, however, come again, and recommend that you visit.

Great Spring Break...

We surprised our kids and took them to Seabrook for Spring Break. We had previously stayed at The Palm a couple of summers ago. We had another great time! Spent each night having dinner on the spacious screened in porch. The house is at the end of a cul de sac, which makes for a peaceful and quiet location. Saw the deer again as we drove down the street. The kids also enjoyed relaxing at night playing video games in their room. We were blessed with 7 sunny days in a row and low humidity. Plan on coming again next year..

A Perfect Spring Break!

After searching for days we found this gem on VRBO. This was our first experience renting someone else's home. Fears were set aside when we arrived! A very kid-friendly atmosphere. The cottage was perfect for our family of four. Seabrook island was absolutely gorgeous. Although a bit of a drive to Charleston, we now know there was no better place to retreat to after a long day of sightseeing. David is excellent to work with and very quick to reply when setting up to rent. We are already planning our return!

This is a very nice property, separated from the golf course by a pictuesque lagoon. The furnishings were superior to most other rental properties and very well maintained, The home was clean and fresh.

Our family enjoyed a week at "The Palm". The accommodations were very pleasant and the kitchen in this Summerwind Cottage is much bigger than other units we have stayed in. The cottage is very nicely set on a pond overlooking the golf course and is very private. The three bedrooms comfortably fit our family of five and was very well equipped. We would absolutely stay again!!!

Star Struck~ A 5 Star Experience with a Galaxy of Memories to Last a Lifetime

Wow, this was by far the most luxurious vacation our famiy has been blessed to enjoy! From plush sheets and towels to wifi~ everything and then some to make our family feel pampered. My husband and I both slept better than we have in years on a mattress that we are now budgeting for in our own home. The outdoor dining table was perfect for family dinners, games and visiting with friends as we enjoyed the surround sound and extensive collection of CDs. The children stayed entertained with a great selection of board games, DVDs, and a Playstation while the adults relaxed on the screened-in porch. The Palm was extremely clean, comfortable and cozy~ from the minute we walked through the door we lived on island time! Our family cooked and grilled out almost every night, the kitchen was well organized and everything we needed to prepare a meal was at our fingertips, including cocktail glasses for after dinner drinks. The cottage was soo luxurious that some days it took some coaxing to entice our girls to take advantage of all that the island has to offer. The island has a selection of beautiful beaches, great fishing spots, and wildlife that really needs pictures to do it justice. In the afternoons we would walk to the inlet and watch dolphins play and beach fish, they would be almost close enough to touch. During our stay~ We enjoyed both pools, deepsea fishing, bike rides, fancy drinks at the club, tennis on claycourts, a day in Charleston, a band at Freshfields, a bonfire on the beach, Reds Ice House at Bohicket, and finding sanddollars in the ocean! It is with memories to last a lifetime and sand between our toes that we headed back home already looking foward to our next vacation at the Palm!

Not quite as described

We stayed in July 2010 and I can definately say this is not a "five star" luxury villa or Seabrook's finest rental cottage. From the time we checked in the air conditioning was not working properly and would not cool past 76 degrees even after midnight. The unit was not very clean as it had hair in the tubs and on the bathroom floors. The porch was filthy with spider webs all over the inside and outside. The uncovered part of the porch was even worse with the gutters actually sprouting flowers due to the amount of debris in them. The master bedroom bath had only one outlet which was completely uncovered. Every time something was plugged in it immediately flipped the large breaker panel which had to be reset every time. Then after each night, we awoke to all of our food being sampled by some type of rodent. Of course it left numerous droppings all over the table and furnishings. In addition, we attempted to watch a DVD in the den but found that the picture was in black and white with no sound. We loved Seabrook Island and will return in the future, but just not in this "five star luxury villa'.

Owner response:For the past five years, hundreds of families have stayed at our villa and this is the first negative review or comment we've received. We have a roster of loyal guests who return year after year. We employ the finest rental management company on Seabrook and Kiawah and they do an excellent job of keeping the villa very clean, with a 4 hour thorough cleaning between guests. Regarding the air conditioner, our own family stayed at the villa earlier in June and had no problems with the air. (I am one who loves to keep it extra cool - around 70-72). When this guest did request a service check, we called a local repairman and he checked the unit and found no issues. My brother, who has an HVAC background, came in immediately after these guests left with his own family and reported no problems with the air conditioner. Regarding the outlet, it has been repaired. Regarding rodents, I have never seen a rodent in the house and have had no reports from other guests about rodents, but like any house, the villa is subject to an occasional pest issue. But again, that is why we have a management company to handle any issues that occur. Our expectation is that all of our guests have an enjoyable and problem-free vacation stay. And 99 percent of our guests over the past five years have confirmed that this is the case. In the past year, we have spent thousands on improvements - including new mattresses, a new larger outdoor teak dining table and a fresh new supply of linens and towels. We are confident that you will enjoy your stay and are committed to exceptional customer service.

Three generations spent a wonderful month at The Palm away from the snow and cold. The house is beautifully decorated. There was room for everyone to enjoy each other and some quiet time, too. The location provided a safe place for outdoor play. The alligator was around in the afternoon and deer, too. The Palm is a perfect place for a vacation.

We've stayed in three rentals on both Kiawah and Seabrook Islands, and The Palm was by far the nicest one. The fresh beach decor is attractive and appropriate; the layout provides wonderful spaces both for gathering and for having some privacy; the home is very well furnished and equipped -- everything we wanted in the kitchen, extra pillows and blankets in the bedrooms for chilly nights, comfortable furniture and beds, and a beautifully appointed screened in porch with views of the lagoon and golf course. The location, at the end of a cul de sac, is quite private, and offers lots of opportunities for viewing wildlife. We saw the lagoon's resident alligator several times, and watched deer graze on the golf course every evening. We really enjoyed our family vacation at The Palm!

The Palm is an extremely comfortable and well appointed property. We spent a week here and most of that time was spent on the screened in proch. It is a perfect place to eat, chat and or read a favorite book. Having the capability to listen to a CD out there just added to the ambiance. We would definitely recommend the Palm for your next get away!

The accomodations at "The Palm" during our stay was in October was outstanding! We had our family of four and another family of four and everyone was very comfortable. The setting overlooking the golf course and lagoon was so relaxing and the screened-in back porch was the best. The quick trip to the beach and pools was a treat for all of us (be sure to check out the sunrise from the beach club!)and the owners did not hold back on the amenities. Great stay and highly recommended!

The entire family had a great time at the Palm and on Seabrook Island over July 4th week. The house was beautiful - and my wife and I especially loved the large screened porch. The kids enjoyed watching the alligator, catching frogs, spotting deer and pretty much everything about the trip. David was a pleasure to deal with - and we would recommend the Palm for anyone thinking of taking a trip to Seabrook Island.

The Palm was abolutely beautiful inside and out! It had everything you might need for your vacation...from the books, videos, music c.d.'s, games, large flat-screen t.v. and well-equipped kitchen to the awesome screened porch and golf/lagoon view. We looked forward to our morning coffee out on the porch and our evenings playing games and listening to music or nature. We were excited to see the lagoon alligator "Chewey" as well as a beautiful deer. The Palm was beautifully decorated and the Tommy Bahama furniture was very comfortable. We loved bike riding, trying to crab, horseback riding on the beach, golf, the club amenities and visiting the quaint and historic city of Charleston. Mr. Medlock's rental process was quick and easy and he was prompt in responding to all our questions. We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Seabrook Island and we highly recommend this property.

Our family had a very special time at Seabrook and truly hated to leave. It was ideal for a family vacation. Perfect weather and the lovely beaches were uncrowded even on the weekend. North Beach was our favorite, we walked down toward the inlet each day for shells, hermit crabs, etc. Your nicely decorated villa was perfect for our family of four. We've rented vacation homes for many years and yours was by far the most well appointed; which made for an even more enjoyable stay. We enjoyed the books, video and CD library. We watched the nightly parade of deers across the lagoon, saw the alligator and two white deer while driving one night. Enjoyed the beach club pools, Kid's Club, Tie-Dye tee shirts, Pelican's Nest, Flick & Float . . . We met so many friendly residents, including one that invited my husband to play golf with him. With all the activities at Seabrook there is little reason to leave. Freshfields is a nice addition to the area, very convenient. The Friday night concert on the green was a lot of fun.

We loved your place and had a great time on the island! The house was very comfortable and in great repair. We appreciated the extras like the the big screen TV, books, games and comfy couch in the living room. However, my favorite spot was the back porch! Great spot to read, chat, or just hang out. We all enjoyed walking to Pelican beach and swimming at the club pool. We brought our bikes and rode on the north beach at low tide. Not many shells but a lovely view! Went crabbing at the dock on Capt Sam's Creek. Would have liked to try sea kyaking in the marsh or Edisto River but couldn't leave the kids. Did you know that there is an alligator or two in the lagoon out back? The kids were enthralled. We also saw numerous deer,dolphins, and a little green tree frog. All told we had a great trip. Would be happy to recommend Seabrook and your house to our friends!

We had the most beautiful, long weekend in Seabrook Island. We stayed at The Palm in Summerwinds community. The cottage was very accommodating. We had plenty of room to comfortably sleep 6 adults and one child. And, it had all the amenities that we needed - from a fully stocked kitchen to a gas grill to clean towels and sheets, etc. In addition, we were able to use the Seabrook amenities at the clubhouse. It was extremely nice to go to the clubhouse to swim, workout, lay on comfortable lounge chairs and have access to a wonderful bar and restaurant for lunch. The entire trip was priceless. We would highly recommend for you to visit Seabrook Island as well as The Palm.

Seabrook Island and your cottage were exactly what we were looking for. We have slowly been making our way down the eastern coast for the last 10 or so years, and I would say that both the location and the accomendations were perfect for our family's needs. It was a pleasure to cook each day in a well equipped kitchen, (with three small children we don't eat out a lot). Until the temperatures cooled near the end of the week we practically lived on the screened in porch -- what a delight. Everyone had plenty of space, so we had a bicker free week..The staff at the Club was very helpful, and our children participated in several activities. But I think the best part was riding our bikes(and searching for gators with my son) and walking on the beach together as a family. The more we explored different neighborhoods, the more we realized how lucky we were to have found your rental. It was convienent to everything, quiet, and had a nice backyard.

We spent a wonderful September weekend at The Palm. It is a lovely cottage on an idyllic island. We had great weather and a perfect time. Dinner at the Red Sky Grill (just outside the entrance to the island) was a highlight. Toured Charleston one day and spent another bicycling in and around the island and the beach. Spent another several hours enjoying good drinks and great company at the pool bar at the Beach Club. Wonderful accomodations for a few couples or a family. We will be returning to Seabrook Island often.

We stayed at this charming cottage from July 22 through August 13. The owners were very cordial and helpful to deal with. Their property management team is top-notch and the maids were great. If I were them, I would not rent this jewel out to others. Seabrook Island is a very special place for family and friends to gather.

The Palm is a great place to stay on Seabrook Island. It is very comfortable and well maintained. Highlights are the big screened porch to the back yard, which is very privat, the flat screen TV, and the location in general. We took our two small children and had a great time. The owner of the property is easy to work with and accommodating. Overall, we loved our stay and will consider it for future vacations ;-)

We had a fabulous time staying at "The Palm" on Seabrook Island! This house is a wonderful, relaxing retreat with lots of great amenities. We really enjoyed relaxing on the screened porch, grilling out on the deck and spotting an occasional alligator in the lagoon. Seabrook Island has beautiful beaches and lots of nature to enjoy. The Beach Club was very enjoyable with pools and restaurants that overlook the beach. David was a joy to deal with as was the management company. Thanks for a wonderful vacation, we look forwrd to returning next year!

We loved the location and privacy of this beautiful home. It is just minutes to the beach and pool, but feels so secluded. The decor is very taseful and well executed. We loved the televisions and fans in every room and the gorgeous screened porch. We felt comfortable from the moment we walked in the door. Every need is thought of---including beach towels! We looked at HUNDREDS of other villas online before deciding on "The Palm". There is not a better villa at a better price located on Seabrook. We LOVED it.

We have been visiting Seabrook Island for the past seven years and have stayed in seven different rentals during that time. Only one of those seven rentals compared to The Palm. Not only was it beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable but The Medlocks are very professional and easy to work with. We had a wonderful time and very much recommend renting The Palm for your next vacation.

We absolutley enjoyed ourselves staying at The Palm. It was perfect for our family - the boys enjoyed the Play Station while their mother and I relaxed in the screened porch and watched nature and golf. Perfect! Also, all the appliances and media were top-notch equipement. Everything worked perfectly. The beach was close, the golf course closer. We enjoyed both tremendously. We had a great time at the Palm. It was spacious and so clean with everything we needed for our stay there. It was so peaceful and quiet nestled among the trees with beautiful views of the golf course. I would have liked to have stayed longer. We were very please with the house. It met or exceed all of our expectations. The only surprises were good surprises! I am sure we will return, quiet beautiful view, even saw the deer one evening. My family (husband, 2 children & mother-in-law) recently enjoyed this condo! The decor is WONDERFUL! It is a very spacious, clean & comfortable getaway! Even though we went in November, the weather was warm enough to spend time on the huge back porch! It is so quiet and secluded, nestled between golf holes. There are plenty of books to read and games to play. (The kids enjoyed the playstation!) We took walks on the wide beach, where the dolphins come in VERY close to shore! There is a great shopping area nearby too with restaurants and a wonderful grocery store. We had a very relaxing weekend! I highly recommend it!

Great house! Decorated just right, comfy home feeling the minute you walk in the door. Screened in porch is to die for! We had 4 women all staying at the same time and had plenty of room all over the house and especially the bathrooms! Close to golfing which we all were there for. The Palm was the perfect getaway for my family of four. Our two young daughters loved the twin beds, the video games and the movies. I'd say this cottage is perfectly furnished. All of the rooms are very comfortable. As described in the above commentary, the kitchen is well equiped...you really only need to bring the food...they thought of everything when it comes to the kitchen! My favorite part of the house is the back deck...part is screened in, with ceiling fans, making it very comfortable. And the view of the golf course and pond gives the setting an exotic feel. Seabrook Island is absolutely spectacular and I would love to return. I disagree with the commentary above concerning the guards at the front gate: we arrived at night and needed some direction...they were very helpful to us.

This is a fantastic rental cottage. My family of 5 stayed here in September and loved every minute. We have stayed at other rental houses on Seabrook, but The Palm is by far the best. The owners have spared no expense to make it a true vacation home. Every detail, right down to the artwork, is designed to put you in the right frame of mind. We will definitely go back here next year.

Our family stayed in The Palm for Thanksgiving. Everyone from the 18 month old to the almost 60 year old had a good time. It was convenient to Freshfields where we have a stationery store. We had to get used to the slow speed limit on Seabrook. We went into Charleston to the aquarium, up to Mt Pleasant, over the new bridge and to visit the Christmas lights at James Island Park.

The Palm is fabulous! I could spend the entire vacation on the screen porch overlooking the lagoon and the spanish moss covered trees! Our kids loved the Playstation and other electronic amenities here. The cottage is in excellent condition and well cared for - very clean, with updated furniture throughout. We rented bikes and rode around the island every morning as a family. This cottage is not right on the beach, but few places on Seabrook Island are. So, we just packed a lunch and drove the short distance to the beach around lunchtime every day. The owners have put some outdoor speakers on the outside deck so my husband and I listened to music at night on the porch while the kids watched videos on the huge TV. My perfect vacation!! I would definitely recommend the Palm for anyone looking for a nice, clean place on Seabrook. For the money, it is a much better value than what we've rented at Kiawah.

Our family recently stayed at this wonderfully comfortable cottage. It was well equipped, especially the kitchen, as we cooked some of our own meals. Also, the welcome gifts of fine Belgian choclates & bottle of wine were an extra special touch of class! The location was beautiful & very quiet. Seabrook Island is a beautiful vacation spot & we will certainly return to "The Palm" for future getaways. The only complaint I have would be the island gate entry guys. They were a bit inhospitable & unfriendly. They could take a lesson from the Kiawah Island gate entry guys who are helpful, friendly & SMILE! But other than that, our weekend vacation at Seabrook was a true memory-maker for our entire family.
