ALOHA & E KOMO MAI! Hello & Welcome!
Leave the crowds in Waikiki & come to Oahu's windward northshore. Our vacation rental is a cozy and romantic oceanfront cottage. If you want to be close to the water--this is the place! (Warning...we are so close to the water that during high tides you may get splashed by the occasional seaspray.)
Years ago a Hawaiian fisherman and his wife built this charming boathouse on this small point surrounded by coral reef. Much of his free time was spent exploring the abundant reef for fish, eel and octopus. In the late afternoon he would return to his beloved boathouse to enjoy the blue-grey skies and magnificent coastal and mountain views.
Today the boathouse has been refurbished and converted into a cozy, romantic studio cottage. The oceanfront location on this small point gives way to captivating 230 degree panoramic views of the coastline and the Koolau mountain range.
We are right on the ocean, but away from Kamehameha Highway which tends to bustle with traffic. Our location is ideal if you want to explore the northshore and windward coast of Oahu - from Lanikai to Kaena Point.
Accommodations are clean and comfortable with a queen size bed, kitchette, dining table, clean private bathroom & shower. There is free wi-fi and free local and long distance calling through out the US and Canada. Off street parking available for a compact to midsize car. Property is gated for security and privacy.
Additional two bedroom/two bath house is available for extended families.
Smoke free property.

I was in Honolulu for two weeks working, then was able to take a week of vacation to spend with my husband in Darcelle and Mike's boathouse. It was beyond what we expected and I just can't say enough good things about it. It's located in a quiet community called Hauula. There is a Tamura's market, as well as a couple of restaurants very close by. Everyone we met in the area was friendly and very gracious. Darcelle and Mike were lovely and very helpful with information, including fishing tips for my husband! The boathouse is literally on the water. We were there during the full moon so when the tide was high, we had to close the windows because the surf was so rough! We slept with the windows open every night and enjoyed listening to the surf. The view is spectacular - almost facing due east - yes, the sunrises were definitley worth getting up early for. I loved the fact that Darcelle had a washer and dryer available for us to use - such a blessing to bring back clean clothes from vacation! Their cat, Skip, was fun to have around too. All in all, I do hope to get back to the this property sooner than later. It was definitley a treat and we loved everything about it!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

Wow... Our time was amazing and the boathouse was just perfect for us. We had everything we needed including "skip" (the three legged cat) who greeted us in our comings and goings. The house was clean, well equipped and just what we needed. There are a few eateries and grocery store within walking distance but I would definitely have a car to enjoy the rest of the north shore. There are GREAT beaches within 2 minute drive and the Gunstock Ranch "sweetheart ride" was a highlight of the trip. We'll definitely stay there again and refer people to the little boathouse on the north shore.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

This cottage was exactly what we wanted for our week long vacation. We had one day of business in Honolulu, but wanted someplace away from the crowds and city to really relax and enjoy the rest of our time off. The cottage is very cute and perfect for a couple. Darcelle's 2 bedroom rental next door was occupied with two couples that were so friendly and very wonderful people. The rental is literally next to the ocean! We went snorkeling for a couple days in front of the rental and saw some turtles from our deck the day before we went home. The sandy beach is just a five minute walk down the street (or down the shore if you have some water shoes because it is rocky for a couple houses). We walked a block to the market and to the local restaurant, Papa Oles, which has amazing food. Hiking around the area was absolutely gorgeous and all of the locals that we talked to were so nice. Darcelle was so so amazing! She made sure we had everything we needed when we arrived and told us to call her if we needed anything else. Thank you so much Darcelle we loved every minute of our vacation!! We will definitely contact you the next time we are on Oahu!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

It's been two weeks since we left....can we come back now? We had such a wonderful time staying in the boathouse. The sound of the waves lulled us to sleep every night. The house is a block off the highway so there was no traffic noise to interrupt the peaceful setting. The boathouse had all the essentials we needed to serve as a base camp for our island adventures. We were able to pack lunches in the provided cooler to be ready when we were out hiking or enjoying the beach (best beach 2 minutes down the road). Darcelle was so helpful and gave us tips on places to visit and things to try. The boathouse was perfect for two people. On our last day as we sat on the chairs looking out at the ocean we saw three whales breaching a couple hundred yards out to sea. They gave us a show for 15 minutes. It was amazing! We would love to go back and bring the family and stay in one of her two bedroom bungalows down the street. She gave us a sneak peek at them and they are beautiful with enough room for the family. We would highly recommend any of Darcelle's properties. Mahalo for a wonderful stay!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

Our stay in the bungalow was perfect! I read all the reviews, so I had high expectations - they were met or surpassed. The little house is super cute and super clean. The linens were fresh and there were plenty of towels. We enjoyed the sunrises every morning and the ocean breezes each night. There's a beach within walking distance that's just wonderful and the snorkeling was grand. It's close enough to drive to the more populated spots on the North Shore and Kailua. But once we discovered the fruit stands and shrimp shacks between here and Turtle Bay, we stayed close to "home." If you are looking for touristy areas - this isn't it; but, if you want to relax and enjoy the ocean - this is the perfect place! We found the local grocery store reasonably priced (by Hawaiian standards) and friendly. Darcelle was a lovely hostess - there to answer all our questions, yet never intrusive. We needed a vacation, and this is our idea of paradise! We whole-heartedly recommend it, and can't wait to return. Mahalo, Darcelle & Mike, & Aloha!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We stayed in the boathouse for almost 5 weeks - and we loved it. The house was so nice, the interieur lovely, kitchen perfect, bed comfertable. Everything was clean and wellmaintained. There were lots of towels and everything we needed, and the property was accurate as listed on vrbo´s homepage. The owners, Darcelle and Mike were so friendly. They did everything they could to make our holyday perfect. It is a bit windy on the eastcoast, but it is beautiful up there with turtles wright outside your windows. Once again - we loved staying in the boathouse.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We just stayed at the boathouse for our first visit to Hawaii on Oahu. The boathouse exceded our expectations and was very romantic, had everything we needed, and was very nicely decorated. It was great to have snorkel gear and a washer/dryer! Darcelle was wonderful and helped us with anything that we needed. The sunrise views each morning were perfect and the ocean right outside was very relaxing. We would definately stay here again if we ever make it back to HI!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

My wife and I stayed 2 weeks on the Island, the first in the Boathouse and the second at the Sheraton Waikiki. If we could have changed things we would have spent both weeks at the Boathouse. It was a perfect place for relaxing and spending time with each other. The sunrises were worth waking up for! The location made experiencing the North Shore and the Windward Side a very memorable experience. Thank you and we plan to come back again, hopefully soon.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

When we travel we like to visit the tourist-y places, not stay in them. So when we found this cottage we were thrilled! It is perfect for a couple, you will have everything you need at your disposal, including the best views of the ocean and mountains! We can't describe how relaxing it was to sit out on the deck at sunrise or sunset, feel the ocean breezes, and fall asleep to the sound of the waves. This cottage is for people who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu/Waikiki. The owner Darcelle was wonderful and most gracious in answering any questions we had. Whenever our next trip to Oahu will be, we'll stay here again in a heartbeat! Mahalo Darcelle and we look forward to seeing you again!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
