My family and I had a wonderful long weekend at the beach over Thanksgiving this year. The house was very nice and we especially enjoyed having a fenced in yard for my son's dog (she loved it too!). This is definitely a house we would rent again - in our favorite beach, Bethany. Thanks so much for sharing your house with us!

What a perfect location to celebrate a very special time with family and friends. The beach house was clean and welcoming. The large great room held several people without feeling crowded. Yet the house had a home feel to it no matter how many people were in it. Rose and Russ are very accommodating and really care about their renters. We were fortunate to get to meet them. There was a tuna fishing expedition planned. What a wonderful time that was – and yes we did catch fish – fresh tuna (several types), Mahi –Mahi and four 80 to 100 pound White Marlins (catch and release)!! The best part was being able to bring our dogs. Being right on the canal the dogs (Labs) were very interested in the quacking ducks that swam by. Thank goodness for the fence! We did have rain the last two days of our vacation; however, the laundry room provided the perfect place to wipe the dogs down before they went back into the house. I would recommend this vacation home to anyone, but especially to people who travel with their dogs. We will be back.

Extended famly vacation with 3 dogs. Proximity to the beach was good, loved the canal for kayaking, easy acesses to route 1 , the road marked for walking and running, bicycling was user friendly. posted 35 mph was a plus. Area was remarkably quiet all the time. Fenced in yard was not only a plus for the dogs but also for the four grandchildren. House was well maintained and clean with a full kitchen and laundry, letting us enjoy meals in when we wanted and keeping our beach towels laundered. Also with laundy we didn't have to pack as many clothes. The central location between various beaches was nice so if you wanted a little more excitement you could head to Ocean City or up to Rehoboth.

This is a great place, both dog-friendly and human-friendly. It's a convenient, one-and-a-half block walk to the ocean beach without the beach-front price. Even without a boat, the canal-access makes it a bit exotic with ducks swimming by and we even saw a heron right there. The relatively small size of the house made it perfect for us with 2 humans and one canine. But the good-size living-dining area with fireplace and four bedrooms certainly would easily accommodate more humans and dogs. The fenced yard has beautiful trees, a nice picnic table, and more than adequate space for doggy-business. We also like the easy access to restaurants, boardwalks and shopping from Rehoboth to Ocean City. It's also a short drive to Assateague Island with its wild ponies. We made two trips there in the week we stayed in the Cottage by the Sea. If you're not bringing your own linens, we should tell you that we had a good experience renting them from Grand Rental Station.

Front of house picture does not accurately represent mid-August overgrown nature of plants/shrubs, which is really no big deal. Side slab walkway is quite uneven. Rear of property is as advertised, and very pleasant because trees provide lovely shade to access the dock. Kitchen was immaculate, bathrooms quite sanitary, all mats fresh and fluffy. We had a great evening at the table in the yard with a steamed crab takeout. Location is really convenient to beach and everywhere else. Peaceful, very little traffic on Brandywine. In short, the cottage is as described, and we have it on our short list to book for next year. That says it all.

This was a perfect "Cottage by the Sea" which we inhabited with our two daughters, two grandchildren, new son-in-law and our loveable dog. When we arrived exhusted from at 2 day trip to get here, everything was ready to go. The fenced in property made it easy to get things into the cottage without our dog running off and he enjoyed the back yard immediately, making himself at home, while we unpacked. It didn't take long to feel right at home with everything depicted just as the site had shown. We checked out the bedrooms, deciding who was going to take what and it all worked out with the whole gang fitting into the various bedrooms, unpacking and settling in. There were many books to read, games to play and a non-coined laundry area which was really appreciated---didn't have to worry about saving up those quarters! Everything was cozy, tastefully decorated and comfortable--just like home! The highlight of this trip was being able to bring our dog, which we usually have to put in a kennel while we are away. He did well and enjoyed watching the ducks swimming down the canal. His favorite place was on the platform where the picnic table was and right by the grill, which we used often---he knows where the food is! Our walk to the ocean was a very short distance and if we had many things we wanted to take, we just put everything into a car and used the beach parking permit which is provided. Beside the ocean we headed to the boardwalk and several of our gang took surfing lessons a little up the road, in addition to all of us kayaking with a guided tour--fun, fun! The restaurants were plentiful and wonderful with great seafood as well as near by food markets. This area was near some family which we haven't seen in years and it was fun to catch up in addition to our maid of honor and best man of our wedding "many years" ago, living within 20 min. It was great to see everyone! Rose and Russ were excellent to work with and were "johnny-on-the-spot" and sooooo helpful for any of our needs and requests. They made us feel very welcome and comfortable and cared about how things were going for us. We recommend this great very near the beach cottage to anyone thinking about it--go without hesitation!
Owner response:We're always happy when our tenants enjoy their stay, and of course, recommend us to others :-) Thanks!

This is the perfect cottage for anyone with dogs or young kids! Fully fenced yard is great for our dogs. Location to the beach is wonderful and a few minute walk! Inside has everything you would need and the fire place is a nice touch in the off season. Close to restaurants and sight seeing but w/o all the commercial traffic.Owner is friendly and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in September at the Cottage by the Sea. It has plenty of room for our family. We liked that the bedrooms are separate from the living area - that way the night owls don't disturb the sleepers. Autumn and Ziggy made themselves at home and wanted to play in the fenced yard most of their stay. Thank you for being pet friendly! Hope to vacation there again.

Cottage By The Sea is amazing! The picture does not do this house justice. With three young children, we were slightly concerned about crossing Route 1 to go to the beach, but the pedestrian crosswalks, large grassy medium strip, and strictly-enforced 35-mph speed limit made the journey a breeze. It is actually faster to walk to the beach than to drive. And canoeing on the canal out back is a real treat. We all want to go back to Cottage By The Sea.

Dear Rose, We couldn't wait to rent your condo again this summer! The kids grew so excited when they realized that we were staying at the "condo with the canal and the blue heron"! This year, we took advantage of the Rehoboth Outlets, just 20 minutes away. The bargains were great! Another day, we took a day trip up to Cape Henlopen State Park, and enjoyed a wonderful tour of the WWII watch-out tower, cannons and underground bunkers along the coast. What a fascinating piece of history! This year, more than the first, we re-discovered McCabe's Gourmet Shop right around the block from your condo. Just the thought of their fresh pastries, baguettes, coffee and fresh mozarella was enough to get us all out of bed in the mornings! In all, thank you for offering your condo to all of us out there in need of peace, body and soul. We sure get is here! We will return again! The Becker Family Kempton, Pennsylvania
