Redwood Mountain Hideaway in Felton Near Lake + Santa Cruz
- Minimum stay:1 night
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Nestled among the ferns, under the majestic Redwood trees, this cozy little cabin was built in 1930 as a fishing cabin. Back then, the creek was full of steelhead and one could fish right from the living room window. Once the road was put in and electricity came to this canyon inside of a canyon, it became a resort area of sorts. The creek was dammed up in the summer for the local swimming hole known as 'Club Lompico'.
There is a large deck with views of Lompico Creek. The living room has 1 full wall of windows facing the creek. Beautiful Loch Lomond is just a 5 minute drive away. Paddle boat,
row boat, and canoe rentals, fishing for stocked trout and indigenous bass, picnicking, and hiking trails. Loch Lomond is open from March-September. In the mountains we may be, but ever so close to the sea. Santa Cruz is a 20 minute drive. There is the famous Roaring Camp Railroad attraction. Kayak rentals and tours go all around the bay. From town, it just a short hike to the Lime Kilns. Near the border of Scotts Valley and Santa
Cruz lies the Mystery Spot.
The big, elegant sail boat sloop, the Chardonnay, has wine tasting with its coastal tours. You can take the train all the way to the Beach Boardwalk for a day of fun rides, mini-golf, and sun. Nearby, the Felton Commons Park boasts the tallest covered bridge in the United States, (Guinness Book). All around are famous local wineries; Bonny Doon, Bargetto's, Zayante, and Hallcrest to name a few. Limo tours are available. In Felton town, Don Quixote's Mexican Restaurant features live entertainment every night. Italian and Chinese cuisine and pizza are also in town.

Janea is great and this little secluded home was exactly what we needed to get away from the big city. Had a nice time blazing some trails off the beaten path on a nearby trail, enjoying the hot tub, and making some great meals. The best surprise was all the extra essentials that this place has. We came prepared with food and such, but the cooking utensils were great and helped me make some great meals for us. I think the only surprise was thatthe hot tub is just that, a hot...tub. No jets. BUT it is extremely relaxing and I quickly forgot all about it and rested in it while looking up a the stars. Would definitely come again.Recommended for: Pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My family and I had a great time staying here. The house was the right size for our family of three (2 adults & 1 toddler). House was easy to find with the directions given by Janea, and our GPS wasn't too bad matching her directions either. Janea was very courteous, helpful and easy to reach by phone. The welcome information book was the greatest! It answered all our questions, so our stay was stress-free. We loved how the house was extremely quiet and very comfortable since everything you need is provided. We visited many hiking trails nearby. Henry Cowell was a favorite and we also went to Quail Hollow as well. We would definitely stay here again. I highly recommend renting this house if you love to outdoors or just want to get away from everything.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

Tranquility Base was a wonderful cabin for my family and I. It was exactly what we wanted and where we wanted. If you are looking for a cabin that is smaller and quaint, quiet, peaceful, and centrally located, this is a great find! Not to far from Santa Cruz with all of the city's fun activities, and the drive to the city is worth the trip, but also, the cabin is only a couple minutes from Henry Cowell State Park, which we hiked several times because of its beauty. Additionally, the cabiin is only minutes from Loch Lommond, a great place to spend an afternoon on the lake with the family, and it is only minutes from Roaring Camp Railroad, which is also a great family excursion. Janae was a very friendly, wonderful host, helpful in every way. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, and we highly recommend this cabin to any couples, singles, or families. My family included my wife and I, and two small children (2 1/2 and 11 mths), and it was perfect, with protective gates and fences for the kids all around the property. We look forward to more memories in the future!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

Our family of 5 stayed here for a getaway and found everything extremely enjoyable. Owner had everything we needed, hot tub was a little scalding for kids but just ask her to turn it down when you arrive. Cabin is cozy and remote but it only takes 15 mins to get to Santa Cruz and the drive is breathtaking. We went to Loch Lomond and rented a boat for $10 - brought our fishing poles and set off for a glorious lake adventure. Something for the whole family! The decor is cottage funky with a mellow cozy ambience - couldn't be better! Outside deck with hammock/fire pit were fun too and deck stairs are gated if you have a little one or pet.Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

We rented this for a week while visiting Santa Cruz county and loved it. The cabin was clean and well appointed. The landlord is very responsive and directions to find the cabin were clear and precise. My two kids loved being in the redwood forest with all of the fairies, and my wife and I enjoyed our morning coffee or a glass of wine on the deck, and a dip in the hot tub at the end of a long day. Loch lomond is a short drive away and offered relaxing paddle boating and picnicking. The property is semi-remote, but Felton is only about twelve minutes away by car and offers shops and restaurants. Santa Cruz is maybe twenty minutes to half an hour away. We are former residents and returned to some of our favorite haunts - Ciao Bella in Ben Lomond, and a bunch of places in Santa Cruz: Gabriella for a romantic dinner (although our kids loved drawing on the tables with crayons), El Palomar for mexican food, Shogun for fantastic nigiri sushi and Mobo Sushi for great Maki. I would highly recommend this place for a romantic getaway or a visit with the kids. Not so good for people with difficulty walking because there are a lot of steps up from the parking area. Also, the cabin is a little far off the beaten path. It is certainly the kind of place I was looking for, but if you want to be convenient to downtown Santa Cruz with little or no driving, look elsewhere.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

This cottage was so private, serene and quiet. What a wonderful place to come to just sit out on the deck and take in the sounds of nature. Everything you could think of was there and the bed was so comfortable. Nice decorative touches and romantic lights outside on the deck. Janea the person who took our reservations was so down to earth and pleasant. She e-mailed us of conditions in the area since the fires were going strong elsewhere and even called us at the cabin to see if we arrived safely. Can't say enough about this cabin in the sky. FABULOUS!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 8/8
