Amsterdam apartment description
Marnixkade Canalview Apartments are located on a quiet canal in the heart of Amsterdam's historic Jordaan district, a vibrant area with many shops and restaurants just around the corner. Most Amsterdam landmarks are within walking distance.
These luxury apartments are located in a typical 19th century canal house. All apartments have a BEAUTIFUL 180 DEGREE CANAL VIEW from the livingroom and dining room. They are spacious and very light with morning sun in the bedroom, and afternoon evening sun in the living room/dining room. The apartments have been renovated to include all modern conveniences and have a fully equipped kitchen, including dishwasher, and washer/dryer.
They are fully furnished and includes all linens. Goose down comforters, and an entertainment system are just a few of the amenities. Historical accents include stained glass en suite doors.
In developing the apartments, we have tried to combine the flexibility and relaxed atmosphere of a vacation rental with the local touches of a B&B.
Each apartment has been developed with a particular theme and furnished with the amenities one needs or wants when travelling, we strive to make the apartments a place where you will quickly feel at home, and a place you'll look forward to coming back to after a day of exploring the city.
Marnixkade Canalview Apartments are owned and operated by Eelco and Bruce, a Dutch American couple. We are long-time residents of Amsterdam, and have been renting apartments on the Marnixkade for the past 12 years. We live in the building where the apartments are located and have been restoring the apartments step-by-step since we moved here.
We love Amsterdam, and we love sharing this enthusiasm for our city with our guests. Meeting so many wonderful people from different cultures is what motivates us to do what we do and continue to enjoy it. We look forward to welcoming you.
While most attractions and central station are within easy walkings distance, the apartments are also ideally situated in terms of public transport with tram and bus stops just 50 meters (about 150 feet) away. Bus 18 takes you in 5 stops to Central Station and Amsterdam's emerging waterfront (Bimhuis, Jazz Hall, and Stedelijk Museum). Tram 10 takes you directly to Amsterdam's nightlife on Leidseplein (just 5 stops), while Tram 3 takes you to The Concertgebouw (Concert Hall) and many of the major museums (Van Gogh, Rijksmuseum).
Marnixkade Canalview Apartments are your ideal home away from home in Amsterdam. Marnixkade Canalview Apartment offers a smoke-free environment.

We have stayed in this apartment twice now and intend to go back. It is canal side with a great view and lots of space. The location is superb - close to restaurants, supermarket, bike rentals and major attractions etc. The owner,Bruce is on site and very helpful on interesting things to do in Amsterdam. You will arrive to a fridge full of food, beer and wine and enjoy your stay, however long it is. I recommend this accomodation without qualification.

Extended stay in Amsterdam
Extended stay in Amsterdam
If you want to enjoy the Amsterdam experience, this is the place to stay. Centrally located on one of the smaller canals, the photo and description are extremely accurate and place you in the middle of the Jordaan with easy walking/biking access to the major canals and the heart of the city. With the owner on premises, there is never a delay with any needs or questions. He is extremely helpful with recommendations and directions. Although centrally located, it is quiet, safe and well maintained. For our second stay of 30 days, we rented bikes which greatly expanded our area of exploration. You will enjoy the Mondrian room with all it's conveniences, and will want to return.

Perfect vacation get-away
Perfect vacation get-away
We just spent a wonderful week in Amsterdam at the Marnixkade Apartments. The location is great, with a beautiful view overlooking the canal, a lively neighborhood, and easy access to several tram and bus lines. The rooms are comfortable, the kitchen well equipped,, and the provisions more than ample. Our hosts were most helpful with a couple of travel-related issues. We've already recommended the apartments to several friends, and hope for a return visit ourselves.

We stayed in the Mondriaan apartment for several nights around New Year's Eve of 2009. We could not have been more pleased with the comfort and overall quality of the apartment. We stayed in the Marokko apartment in 2006, and we'll definitiely be returning to the Marnixcade Canalview Apartments again in the future. These two apartments have so much going for them: They're very spacious; they're off a quiet canalside street; they're a short stroll from any number of terrific restaurants and neighborhood bars; and everything in both apartments is in perfect working order. The small market just around the corner is a terrific convenience. We even purchased some marinated chicken and lamb from there, which we prepared in our apartment's well-equipped kitchen. It was a most enjoyable "at home" meal. Bruce and Eelco are extremely thoughtful hosts who take the extra steps to ensure that their guests are content and comfortable. Alan also deserves a special mention for his excellent recommendations on restaurants and places of interest (The House of Bols was a blast!) We've truly found our home away from home in one of our very favorite cities on the planet. We're already discussing our next visit to Amsterdam, and our next stay at Bruce and Eelco's wonderful apartments.

We just returned from a wonderful holiday in Amsterdam where we stayed in the beautiful Mondriaan Apartment. The apartment was well equipped, spacious, with a lovely view over a canel directly in front of the apartment. The location was perfect, an easy 15 minute walk from the train station and within minutes to some great restaurants and markets. All of Amsterdam is readily available to explore from the ideal location of the property. There is also a great park to walk/jog in, also within a 10 minute walk. We were pleasantly surprised upon our arrival as the apartment was stocked with all kinds of welcome foods, including wine, juice, milk, breakfast snacks, chocolates, and a big piece of fresh Dutch cheese! Our host Allan was great and very helpful and informative. Highly recommended! Mike and Terrie, Boston, USA.

We spent the first week of September at this apartment and found it to be perfect for our vacation. The apartment was very comfortable and the king size bed was excellent. The wireless Internet connection and the TV with English channels (including CNN)were a big plus. The owners have gone a long way to make things easier to newcommers to Amsterdam by providing a book that includes their favorite restaurants. Being in the Jordan district provided a wide variety of excellent restaurants within walking distance. Access to public transportation was 1/2 block away. The owners stocked the apartment with food and beverages and that was another big plus. I highly recommend this very quiet apartment to anyone visiting Amsterdam.

I recently spent a week in August in Amsterdam in this apartment. The demeanor of the place, and I'm a developer and student of "place" is very good. So good, I spent a lot of time just getting a much needed rest and reading. I fell in love with the area and the apartment and have been going to Amsterdam for 20 years. It just doesn't get much better. The food waiting there sustained us when we were too tired to go out. Lot's of thought has gone into making this a home away from home and that's what it was to me and my friends who visited.

We have been to Amsterdam several times. On previous trips we have stayed in hotels. This time, for a six week stay we wanted to actually live in the city that we enjoy so much. Upon arrival, we followed the excellent directions & walked from Central Station to the apartment. This would be a path that became very familiar and one we walked many times. The apartment lived up to our expectations & went beyond. The fresh bouquet of tulips that greeted us upon arrival was gorgeous. The refrigerator was well stocked – everything from wine to snacks to enough food to put together a meal or two. It was so nice to know we did not have to go to a market immediately. In fact we stayed put for about twenty four hours before venturing out. For the first five weeks of our stay, we were in the Marokko apartment. It has a unique charm & is very appealing. The view of the canal and beyond was mesmerizing. Some days we just wanted to watch out the windows. The final week we were up one level to the Mondriaan apartment. It too is a lovely place to stay with everything we wanted at our disposal. This apartment is centrally located and allowed us to walk to any destination in the city. We had a variety of restaurants to choose from in the neighborhood & beyond. We chose most often to stay in at night. Shopping for our food every day at the local markets and bakeries was a wonderful experience. The street markets around the city are not to be missed. The Jordaan has two that occur every week, just a few minutes from the apartment. And finally, a word about our hosts. We had emailed Bruce & Allan several times prior to our arrival. They patiently responded to all of the questions I asked. Is there a hair dryer? (yes), can I sent a box via Fed Ex to the building (yes) and any number of other silly questions you think of when planning an extended visit. Spending time with Allan and getting to know him was a wonderful experience. He is charming, smart, and fun to be around & many hours were spent engrossed in conversations with him. When we met Bruce, I felt like I already knew him. He made every effort to ensure that our accommodations were had lived up to our expectations. We would highly recommend the Marnixkade Canal View apartments to anyone. In fact we did just that, giving a flight attendant the information on our way home. We will be back as soon as we can & next time we hope to stay for several months.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the lovely Maroko Apartment. We were warmly welcomed with fresh flowers, a gift basket of delicious treats. In the kitchen we found breakfast makings of Dutch cheeses, meats, breads and morning delights. It felt as if someone knew just what we liked! The collection of books on the shelves added a special touch to our relaxing moments "at home". Bruce and Allen were extremely helpful in answering our questions before we arrived and were most accommodating while we were staying in one of the most wonderful cities in the world. We look forward to our next visit. We recommend the apartment to all who want a lovely home away from home.

We really enjoyed our trip to Amsterdam, and the apartment was wonderful. Allen was a great help and previous comments are right on track for this rental. We would have missed some great dining in the Marnixkade neighborhood if we had taken the hotel option for our 9 day trip. We loved the Old Amsterdam cheese in the fridge, and it was perfect to have all the provisions in the kitchen on our arrival. The apartment has lots of tourist books and information, it was invaluable. We will do this again.

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
The two things people enjoy most about this apartment are the location and the special touches that make the apartment feel like home. Regarding the location, people love the canal view. They also like that it is just a short walk to just about everything in the center of Amsterdam, while at the same time not being directly on one of the busy tourist streets. Regarding the special touches, people love the flowers and fresh fruit in the apartment, and the fact that everything they need for a care-free vacation is there.
