Hi Mike, We’ve had such a wonderful time! We are grateful to you for keeping this beautiful place and sharing it with us. All the more precious as it seems that well maintained 1800’s farmhouses are rare in the area. As you have suggested, on the of July we drove to Andover which was the place to be! We’ve enjoyed the crowd and sat on the grass listening to a rocking good local band. I got my wish of visiting the fellow Ukrainian’s Dr Konstantin Frank’s winery, something we didn’t have time to do last year. We were treated to the most interesting wine tasting with the best view. Tom and Theresa are very nice and helpful as all the people we’ve met there. One day we drove to the God’s Country Creamery in Pennsylvania (I found it from one of the links you’ve sent), they have very fine cheeses. The owner, Mark, showed us how the cheese is made and shared many interesting stories. Once, I believe in Whitesville, we stopped at an old General Store. I stepped out of the car and asked if they are open, and heard “come in! come in!”. Turns out that a couple from California bought the place and made it their house. Quite unique, with old shelves, scale, jars still there as decorations. And like the old store, they keep their doors open for anyone one to come in, for a tour, lunch or a chat. Colin was able to do a lot of cycling and exceeded his goal of doing 300 kilometres that week. As you know, there are many hills, which is exactly what he was looking for as the Ottawa valley is quite flat. We’ve read a lot. Colin has almost finished “The Great Game” by Peter Hopkirk about the struggle for empire in Central Asia. I checked and see that Ottawa library has it as well, so he will be able to finish it. Every night we played Scrabble. Colin always won, but when we got home and I checked the dictionary, it turned out that he invented some of the words.

Our family had a wonderful stay at your home. The thrill of hiking and going to the creek. The cook stove brought back many memories. My grandmother cooked on a wood stove. I took pictures to take home--the farm house, barn, and shed (former one room school house--Mike--the owner) were a real picture to remember. I will always remember my stay here.

We really enjoyed our stay here--thank you! It was so much fun going to the pond. This is the most fun our dog has ever had! We loved the peace and quiet. We rode our bikes up and down the huge hills and then rested staring up at the clouds as they passed by. Thank you for renting your lovely farm house-it was a memorable stay.

This was a well deserved getaway. We felt ourselves unwind. It is so peaceful. The views are perfect. This is our second year here and we enjoyed your land and home so much. Thank you for sharing this little piece of heaven. PS There is great fishing and Kayaking on the Canisteo River. You won't see another person--extremely peaceful. There is a launch site in Cameroon Mills and Rathbone--right off Canisteo River Road and very close. PPS by Mike (the owner) June and Lenny just completed their 3rd year and doubled their stay from 1 to 2 weeks.

Thanks once again for a glorious vacation. Sometimes it was very hard to leave the farmhouse and pond. We did out to see two of Natures true wonders: The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon--we did the turkey path and Niagara Falls--unbelievable--pictures do not do it justice. Our dog took long treks and sometimes it was a long time before she answered--coming back happy and exhausted.

My family enjoyed our two-week stay. The house is situated in the hills with a lovely view. The bedrooms are very nice and the beds are very comfortable. The pond is very nice for floating. You can see lots of wildlife - deer, fox, turkey, nice birds. The owner and caretakers are nice people who wish to make your stay as refreshing as possible. You can get to the Finger Lakes region pretty easily (Corning, Seneca Lake and such are all within a 2 hour drive). The local towns (Hornell, Wellsville, Andover) have a very tired feel to them, so if you are looking for local entertainment, you'd have to travel farther than a 20 mile radius. This property is best enjoyed as a retreat away from it all. Bring some books and settle in.

When was the last time you were outside and heard no noise except the ones created by birds? Or the last time you looked at the night sky and were in awe at the number of stars you could see without city lights interfering? This property is absolutely gorgeous. Even my husband enjoyed being out in the country--he spent most of his days at the pond--fishing. And the dogs! Well, they were in heaven. It was a relaxing vacation and the drive to get to town was lovely so we didn't mind the miles. (I recommend doing your driving in the daytime, though. It does get dark out in the country!) You can easily visit the charming small city of Corning, or head a little further to Watkins Glen and Seneca Lake with all the wineries. You can also easily visit Keuka Lake and all the wineries around that lake. Or just stay "on the farm" and read a good book--Mike has plenty to chose from. If you are truly looking for a peaceful get-away, look no further.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful house! We had a wonderul time in Greenwood. The weather was beautiful--I can only imagine what the trees look like in October. This is truly God's country! We enoyed exploring the neigboring villages and towns. The girls loved the Corning Mseaum and making glass. We found a wonderful ice cream stand in Beartown "Peaches and Cream" on the way back from Corning (rt 417). We visited Kenka Lake, wineries and treked the Gorge at Watkins Glen. And the swimming hole. It was hard to escape! We spent many hours swimming, fishing and reading by the pond. We picked up Amish bake goods Friday morning in Jasper. Whoppee pies, zuchinni bread, and peach pie. Yummy! They are open Friday and Saturdays. We can't wait to come back next year! Our Scottie will be dreaming of chipmunks and groundhogs fro a long time. It was paradise for little Meggie!

Dear Mike, Theresa, and Tom, Thanks so much for your wonderful hospitality. This is the third year I've rented Dryden Hill Farm for two or three weeks. Next year I was intending to go to Italy and Dalmatia but decided instead on a month at Dryden Hill. It's been fun to be the changes in just three years--the beautiful Amish bedroom furniture, the new concrete woodshed floor, and the black walnut and black cherry plantings. This place is a tonic for my soul!

If you need a place to get away from the daily hustle and bustle of life, this is it! Situated on 70 acres with not another house in sight, this farmhouse can allow even the most stressed-out individual to relax!! The views from everywhere are simple amazing! My husband, dog, and I just spent a wonderfully relaxing 5 days at Mike's house. The house was VERY clean and well-maintained, and we were very pleasantly surprised by all the little extras we found. The peace and quiet, combined with the comfortable bed and mattress, allowed for a good night's rest. If you like to walk, there are just miles of places to do it, from the fairly level trail up to the pond, to the almost completely uphill/downhill hike on Murray Hill Road. While it was too cold to use the pond, it was very picturesque and we could see plenty of fish swimming around inside. Our dog had a blast running around and checking out all the new scents! Mike was wonderful to deal with and super helpful! The house has plenty of brochures on local attractions and things to do. We would definitely come back and highly recommend this property to anyone that enjoys getting away from it all!!

Great Week!! This is the perfect half way point for friens from Ohio and New Jersey to meet. The two full baths were perfect for two families. The house is decorated to blend with the architecture. We spent two days touring. One day at Corning was great with a hands on glass blowing class. Our 10 year old daughter made a paper weight! We loved the Museaum of Glass and the Rockwell Museum of Western Art. Spencer's Restaurant got an A+ for family friendly service. Another day was a Keuka Lake. We had a very nice free tour of Billy Hill Vineyard. The wine varietals were too sweet for our taste. It is a pretty area to drive through. The rest of the week was spent swimming in the pond, walking the local roads, and generally relaxing. The dogs had a blast. Tom was very helpful and personable. We'll be back!!

July 9-15,2005 Wow! Where to Begin?! I beleive our family had some pretty memorable experiences up here in Greenwood. When we first arrived Tom came over with a big smile and lots of information about the house and the town below--that was very nice of him. The twins enjoyed the pond immensely--they swam and fished getting a lot of hits but none out of the water. You and your family are very fortunate to have such a wonderful place to come to and relax. December 30, 2005 to January 2, 2006 We would like to thank you for a wonderful weekend at your farm. We arrived on Friday 12/30 and enjoyed a great New Year's Eve with good friends. This house made it very special and we all felt so relaxed from our day to day hectic lives. We took a ride into Hornell and shopped at Wegman's. Our hike on New Year's Day to the pond and down Murray Hill Road made us feel better after the New Year's celebration. One of the highlights of the weekend was seeing a brown fox and a dozen or so turkeys. We hope to visit again in the future.

I just wanted to write a brief review of my time spent at this house. I was a bit nervous, as this was my first rental, not to mention with 2 children under 2 years old and two dogs who are high energy. In all honesty this was the best vacation we have ever had and I was truly depressed packing-up to come home. The house was exactly what we wanted, quiet, secluded, & CLEAN. The amenities were more than enough for us. The whole place had charm and warmth. The pond or "swimming hole" was beautiful, so nice we spent over 50%of our time just relaxing there fishing and swimming. The property is well kept and the views are spectacular. I was pleasantly surprised over and over with what this property/house had to offer. Mike was excellent to deal with and the information provided was right on the money. The local people I did meet were warm and friendly, and the few times I ventured to the local towns were very enjoyable. There is also a great golf course about 20 minutes away. I would highly recommend this getaway to any family who wants to enjoy a simple, but quality vacation, where time spent with family & friends take priority over traffic and high prices. We are already looking forward to next year.

My husband, nine year old daughter, our dog and I spent a lovely week at Mike's house in Greenwood at the end of December 2004. We had a very nice relaxing time. The house is cute, clean and the beds are very comfortable. It sits on 50 acres of farmland and there is a barn. We took many nice walks through the fields and woods and our dog had a wonderful time running free. Although the town of Greenwood is very small the house is central to many things, including the quaint town of Corning and the Finger Lakes. We spent one lovely afternoon driving around Lake Keuka and checking out the many vineyards. Mike was a pleasure to work with. He gave us tons of information on the surrounding areas and easy to follow directions to everything.

Dear Mike -- Our family vacation at your house in Greenwood, NY was the most pleasant and relaxing time we have spent anywhere. The quiet walks provided us with plenty of exercise and there were alot of interesting places to visit within a reasonable drive. I especially enjoyed the Corning Museum of Glass and my teenage son and daughter both found the exhibits "inspiring". Of course, we went to Hammondsport and the wine country, too. But there were so many small places and little things to discover that were also exciting. In all honesty, however, our favorite activity was to sit outside in the small grove of pines behind the house just gazing out across the valley, reading, nodding off, and later on sipping wine as we discussed plans for dinner. This is what we remember first when we think of our trip this past August. Oh, by the way, the accommodations were very comfortable with plenty of space, comfortable beds and privacy for all of us. We would love to go back there.

My wife and I spent eight days in Greenwood during this past August. It was, with the exception of our honeymoon, the best vacation we have ever had. It is an exceptional getaway, with a capital AWAY. The peace, quiet and solitude of the setting is quite capable of relaxing the most stressed out of individuals. We spent most of our time on the farm itself. The view of the valley from the pond made it hard to leave. We were visited almost daily by an american bald eagle, whose screams my wife at fist mistook for a seagull, until we spotted the huge thing hovering overhead. If you have a dog, even one that is used to exertion, plan a recovery period for them after your vacation is over, our shepard/golden retriever mix was so exhausted, by the time we left, she couldn't climb the stairs to the bedroom. The accomadations are modern enough to provide a good level of comfort, yet rustic enough not to ruin the experience of getting away from it all. There is a certain aspect of "getting back to the land" that one must embrace to truly enjoy this experience to its fullest. Its not a four or even three star hotel, but to us that was part of the appeal. After all, hotels have other guests! The smattering of Amish households in the surrounding countryside provide an insite into what Lancaster, Pa, was like before it became commercialized and a tourist trap. Bottom line, if you like privacy and can enjoy doing nothing, this place is for you.

Our holiday at the farmhouse was brimming with peace, tranquility and beauty. It was the perfect vacation. We didn't want to leave. Our little girls didn't want to leave. Our dogs were downright miserable about leaving. On the few occasions when we wandered into civilization, downtown Corning had everything we were looking for: great coffee, good restaurants, nice shops, a huge Wegman's supermarket (handy for stocking up for our feasts at the farmhouse) and the girls just adored playing in the nifty fountain. Thank you so much for making your home available.

The house and adjoining property were wonderful, the swimming hole was a delight. The location is within easy range of the finger lakes and the alleganhy national forest, two must-do's if you visit. And for sure check out the amish pie place on your way into Jasper. Mmm Mmmm good! The house was well stocked with everything you could possibly need. Maybe you'd want to bring some dvd's so you could watch a movie in the evening. Everything is clean and well maintained. We will definetly be coming back, my dog did not want to leave. A great time was had by all. Kudos to Mr. Elliot

The place is great and is a true country place. Quite, relaxing, soothing and beautiful all at one place, which I and my friend along with our wife & kids experienced during our brief stay of 4 days. The house had all facilities besides few exceptions like dishwasher and electric oven was not provided (NOTE—new dishwasher and convection oven are now there), which I guess should not be a big deal if you are little use to wash dishes manually OR use disposables. The other exception was one bathroom. Since house places 8 people another bathroom is needed. Especially with 2-3 families with kids, one bathroom is not enough. But in anyways it was manageable.Besides above house had all other amenities that one need. House owner Mike was great and very helpful & courteous. Though the nearest attraction in Finger Lakes region is about 50 miles from the house, still it should not be any hindrance in not picking up this house for your stay. The surrounding of the house was awesome, nicely mowed lawns with a walking trail leading to a private pond. Imagine only 4 instances of car passing the house during whole of my 4 days stay.Day 1 – Drove down to Seneca (half way) and then to Keuka. Both lakes are nice. Route 417 east – 15 north – 17 east (exit 46) for corning – on ramp turn right for Seneka & Watkins Glen State Park. On your left you will see corning glass museum.Day 2 – Drove to Watkins Glen State Park. This is a must to visit. 4 miles round trip. About 2-3 hours (if you are with kids)Day 3 – Drove to Grand Canyon of PA. Route 417 east – turn right onto 248 south – after 2-3 miles turn left onto 117 – 36 north – 249 south – 287 south (May be I missed something up here. I took the route from mapquest using farm’s address to Wellsboro PA). The route was accurate. The drive is also scenic and nice country side. About 1 hr 30 min drive/ Nice place Grand Canyon.Day 4 – drove to Corning Glass Museum (will take about 2 hours to take a complete tour of the museum) and then drove to Seneca. Right when you reach the beginning of the lake park the car and get the info. If you take 14 south (which is the very signal before the beginning of the lake) about 1 mile distance there is a small beach side where you can enjoy and relax.Overall if one has a week’s time, once can easily relax the Finger Lakes region by visiting various places or can be at farm house and relax by exploring the walking trails. In all within 2 hours drive there are many places to visit. Fo

We had an absolutely wonderful time at the farm. I can't think of any downsides to the experience. We wanted a relaxing weekend in the country where we felt like we really got away from the city and that's exactly what we got. For starters, the house is surrounded by green, rolling hills and there's not another house in sight - it's really beautiful and peaceful. The house itself is charming and spacious. The kitchen was well stocked and there was everything we needed (microwave, coffee maker, bbq etc) The proprety is gorgeous. There is a little swimming pond with a dock which was great for cooling off. There was also a creek with a little waterfall just a short walk away which was good for wading. The surrounding towns were very charming as well. We didn't stray too far from the house as we mostly wanted to hang out and relax but we took a little trip one night into one of the nearby towns and went to the local carnival/fair and saw a fireworks display. It's also a great place if you have a dog!

My husband and I had a wonderful time here last October. Drove to Hammondsport for a luncheon cruise on Lake keuka, one of the Finger Lakes - beautiful scenery - delicious buffet - friendly people from Rochester, NY. Only 102 miles round trip. Drove to Naples - lunch at Redwood Restaurant - fresh grape pie - delicious. A lovely town for walking about. Only 118 miles round trip. Happy memories of morning coffee on the front sun porch, looking at the mountains. Wegmans for food shopping was great - lots of good choices - salad bars - deli - bakery. We hope to return this October.
