Enjoy lush redwood groves, miles of pristine coastline, Humboldt Bay, a famous wildlife refuge, and a lively town square in arty, progressive Arcata. Between scenic Humboldt Bay and forested hills, our university town is a popular destination for visitors to the redwoods and is the ideal "home base" from which to take recreational day trips or attend events on the Arcata Plaza, including the Kinetic Sculpture Race, Oyster Festival, Pastels On The Plaza, North Country Fair, Arts Alive, and Saturday Farmers Market.

Within a 15-30 minute drive from Arcata, visit Old Town Eureka's Waterfront Victorian Heritage District, the Victorian Village of Ferndale, or the quaint fishing village of Trinidad, Trinidad Head and beaches, and Patrick's Point State Park.

This craftsman-inspired cottage is in a quiet neighborhood adjacent to Stewart Park, a ten minute walk to Arcata's Plaza and to Humboldt State University. The cottage interior is comfortable and well appointed, with open floorplan living, dining, and kitchen areas. The kitchen is fully equipped with range, microwave, and refrigerator. The bath features a tub shower combination. The living room sofa makes into a bed which can sleep two additional guests. A DVD library, selection of books, and wireless internet are additional amenities. Beautiful maple floors, hand woven carpets, chocolate leather sofa and chair, and historic redwoods photography add warm ambiance to the main living area. PARKSIDE COTTAGE has a separate bedroom with a large walk-in closet, and a queen sized bed featuring an ultra-plush pillow top mattress, down pillows, and fine linens. Paintings by the owner, an accomplished artist, enhance the bedroom decor. Our accommodation is child friendly and for a small additional charge we can provide guests with the following items: Graco Pack And Play, safety gate, high chair, and stroller.

Such a peaceful cottage environment--small yet full of space. We love the beautiful trees nearby, the interesting book collection, a movie for every taste, lovely art on the walls--a charm to share with our family members who live here in Arcata and McKinleyville--a great way to be an Arcatan for awhile! Thanks.........Marsha

    • We had a fabulous vacation and we decided this is, by far, THE BEST place to stay in Arcata. Centrally located so you can walk everywhere and right across the street from a great park. We were able to comfortably cook many meals in the well equiped kitchen it had everything we could possibily need. Owners were very nice and accomodating. And it is such a friendly neighborhood we chatted with many of the neighbors. We will stay here again for sure!

We enjoyed our stay very much. It provided a quiet and restful retreat from the festivities of the HSU commencement. The warm and sunny weather was a welcome surprise, but the return of the fog was just as pleasant.

Thanks for the lovely cottage. I loved being here with my friend. It is always a joy to come to CA. We enjoyed walking at Lost Man's Creek and especially found the Lady Bird Johnson Memorial Grove a beautiful place for quiet meditative walks.

    • Our stay in Arcata was wonderful. The cottage was the icing on the cake. Jim was very helpful on orienting us to the area. His suggestions were right on the money. The charming, clean and well equipped. We will be coming back to the Arcata area annually and will stay in this cottage for sure. We highly recommend this cottage to any one staying in the area. Thanks so much Jim, it was a pleasure.
