Villa Antica is an elegant and richly decorated villa dating from the mid-17th century with its own chapel and estates in quiet surroundings. It was owned by Count Cesare Sardi in 1708. In 2003 it was completely restored by its current owner, a direct descendant of the Count, paying careful attention to details. Every stone was lifted, dusted and put back in its place.
The original, antique and exquisite furniture was restored and newly upholstered. The floors are polished, the walls shine. The entire house is full of sunlight. The rooms are cleverly laid out, with style and class emanating from all of them. Villa Antica remains unchanged, it is authentic inside and out, while at the same time featuring all the modern comforts, perfectly meeting the demands of modern-day living.
The villa is surrounded by 13 ha of private land, which includes a formal Italian garden (1 ha) with trees, fragrant plants and roses. There are many areas to relax outside as well as a pool. (The construction of the pool has been completed, the surrounding lawn is green. Current photos will be available soon.) The pool area includes comfortable sun loungers and sun chairs, and there is a barbecue area as well. Villa Antica offers a lovely view of vineyards, olive trees and the farmhouse. Mass is celebrated every Sunday at 9 o'clock in the chapel.
Built in the middle of the 17th century, Villa Antica is a splendid example of historical architecture in Lucca. In accordance with classical architectural style, the villa has three floors (a ground floor, a Piano Nobile and a second floor), comfortably accommodating 14 visitors on about 500 sqm with eight bedrooms and six bathrooms. It is also possible to close the two bedrooms downstairs so that the villa can be rented to a group of up to ten at a reduced rate. The villa is laid out as follows:
Ground floor (bedroom for four): Main entrance with staircase leading up to the upper floor. A second door brings you to a large and bright living room with access to the delightful garden. This floor also features a fully equipped kitchen, a dining room adorned with frescoes and a marble fireplace, and a TV room with satellite TV. In addition, there is a spacious, air-conditioned double room (the timber ceiling and the Lucca tapestry are particularly beautiful), a twin bedroom (without air-conditioning) and a modern marble bathroom.
First floor (bedroom for four): The main feature of the so-called noble floor, what the Italians refer to as the "Piano Nobile", is the centrally located large salon ? a spacious, formally designed room with comfortable sofas, satellite TV and walls in light yellow adorned with the ancestral portraits. Two bedrooms (one double, one twin) each with en-suite bathroom (one with a bathtub, the other with a shower). In addition, there is a formal dining room with balcony and a fully equipped kitchen.
Second floor (bedroom for six): This floor contains four bedrooms (one double, one twin, two singles each with a queen-sized bed 1.20 m wide) and three bathrooms (one with a bathtub, the other with a shower). This floor features timber ceilings and a typically Tuscan cotto floor. All rooms in the upper floor are air-conditioned.
Each floor offers an independent alarm system, Internet access, satellite TV, telephone and a state-of-the-art central vacuum cleaning system in each room.
The caretaker, who lives nearby, makes sure that the house is cleaned daily (6 days per week) and prepares breakfast (6 days per week). The Italian breakfast is a sweet breakfast: coffee, milk, tea, bread, butter, jam. At an extra charge the breakfast can be prepared also on Sunday (please check price on the premises). A gardener maintains the outside areas and keeps the pool clean. You can also book the services of a chef for your lunches and dinners during your stay (not included in the rate). At an additional charge, you can also book the first shopping and there is a laundry and ironing service and a driver available.
SPECIAL PRICE for groups up to 10 people: 10% discount. If rented for this reduced price the two bedrooms on the ground floor will be closed. |
