Enjoy the comforts of home from this luxuriously rustic lakefront home. This property is unique compared to others in that it is located at the water's edge, with very little elevation change (10 ft.) between the house and the water, an important feature for some older adults and young children. Fishing and swimming from your own private dock will surely be one of the most memorable highlights for the kids. You might choose to rent our pontoon boat for the duration of your stay or from the neighboring boat rental company. If you have your own boat, launch at the nearby boat ramp and tie it up a mere 100 feet from the house. The large, flat(uncommon yet important), park-like lawn lends itself to a friendly game of football, volleyball, or croquet.

Come inside and 'decompress' amid the antiques and leather furniture, a casual blend of eclectic and rustic. There's no danger of feeling as if you've walked into a stale, cookie-cutter resort rental condo, as photos of family and past visitors adorn the walls and impart a welcome feeling of visiting with old friends and being a part of the family.

Views of the lake and distant mountains are wonderful from the two outside decks, where you can enjoy your meals outdoors or take a leisurely soak in the hot-tub. Walk 50 yards to a quaint mountain lakefront cafe' where you can enjoy an early breakfast and meet some of the locals, or dine informally in the evening.

Cottage is easily accessible and close to paved road. No need for four-wheel-drive. Quiet, comfortable lake living at it's best.

  • Beautiful, spacious, spotlessly clean home. We have stayed on the lake before and there isn't a property there that can compare to this one. Anywhere else, unless we were on the water, the children were on decks or docks (or under our feet - ha!) but at Water's Edge they had a yard! An enormous yard! I'll say no more - you might want our week.

  • My husband and I just recently returned from our trip to Lakeside. The home had been renovated recently and was very nicely furnished and very clean. There was space enough for all of us (our dogs included) to relax and feel at home. We had a wonderful time using the pontoon boat to go on the lake and enjoy the absolute beauty of the Nantahala area. The wine left as a gift for us was enjoyed at our meals and our 2 dogs, Rex and Abby, loved their bones! I certainly hope we will be able to return next year and would highly recommend this property to anyone who loves the mountains. Thanks!

  • What an absolutely fabulous vacation! The entire family had a wonderful time...even with a couple days of rain. It is so rare to find a vacation rental home that really feels inviting. The furnishings were comforting and so appropraite for a lake cabin, the kitchen was stocked so that you could actually cook a meal and the fact that Issy (our four-legged family member) was welcome, was a true blessing. We have been vacationing at Lake Lure for several years, but opted for a change this year. What a great decision! The Water's Edge and Lake Nanatahala has Lake Lure beat...hands down!   • There truly is no place in North Carolina like this place. The warmth, coziness, home-like feeling. There was not one thing that this house did not offer. My family including the dogs never wanted to leave. This was an experience everyone should have. There is absolutely no five star hotel anywhere that could offer what this house does. Kudos to Patty!!! See you next summer!

  • This place is wonderful! My family and I had a great time staying for a week in this cabin. It is decorated SO nice...all the little touches made us feel right at home. The cabin itself is beautiful but the yard was the best part about this place for our family. It is very hard to find a cabin right on the lake and especially with the backyard this house has. We enjoyed playing volleyball, baseball, bocce ball and then the kids would all jump in the lake to cool off (right from the dock in the back yard). We also just enjoyed sitting on the decks at sunset...it was so relaxing....and the view could be on a postcard. We just had a great time!! We can't wait to go back!
