LOCATION,LOCATION,LOCATION!!! and now with WI/FI! One knows the importance of location when buying real estate. The same holds true when looking for a rental property. This property is unique compared to others on the lake(most are VERY high with many steps down to the water) in that it's located at the water's edge with very little elevation change (10ft.)between the house and the water. This can be an important feature for some older adults and young children. Fishing and swimming from your own private dock will surely be one of the most memorable highlights for the kids. You might choose to rent our pontoon boat for the duration of your stay or from the neighboring boat rental company. If you have your own boat, launch at the nearby boat ramp and tie it up a mere 100 feet from the house. The large, flat(uncommon in the mountains) park-like lawn lends itself to many activities such as playing a game of horseshoes, a friendly game of football,or relaxing in the hammock underneath one of the many large trees.
Come inside and 'decompress' amid the antiques and leather furniture, a casual blend of eclectic and rustic. There's no danger of feeling as if you've walked into a stale, cookie-cutter resort rental condo, as photos of family and past visitors adorn the walls and impart a welcome feeling of visiting with old friends and being a part of the family.
Views of the lake and distant mountains are wonderful from the two outside decks, where you can enjoy your meals outdoors or take a leisurely soak in the hot-tub. Walk 50 yards to a quaint mountain lakefront cafe' where you can enjoy an early breakfast and meet some of the locals, or dine informally in the evening.
Cottage is easily accessible and close to paved road. No need for four-wheel-drive. Quiet, comfortable lake living at it's best.

I can't tell you how thankful I am that i got to come up to the lake again. Thanks Mark and Gail. My cousins Patti and I had a wonderful time. I came out of the laundry room and there I was in 2 pics and boy did we have a good laugh! Fishing we tried but didn't catch any this year but we took a ride over to Blue Ridge and had trout at a great restaurant(Harvest on Main.) Thanks for sharing the beauty of this wonderful home. The lake house is the best. (Let's trade houses.)

Thanks for putting your cabin on VRBO. Our family throughly enjoyed our week here. This was our base for some wonderful adventures. We, and the dogs,Maggie and Tilly, really loved the huge yard. This end and this side of the lake is the BEST!! We felt comfortable as soon as we walked in. Thanks again for a great week. It is over too quickly.

Thank you for sharing your home with us. The location was ideal for our sons to play in the yard and swim with almost no boat traffic. We had a perfectly relaxing week.

We recently completed our second visit to this property, and there will be a third! Not only is the home itself perfectly charming, the location is ideal. The advantage of walking to the marina (for watercraft rental) and the diner (food is outstanding) is such a big plus in our book. The staff at both are very friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed an easy hike to a beautiful waterfall nearby, and drove to the top of nearby Wayah Bald, where the view is spectacular! Whether you want a relaxing vacation or fun-filled vacation, you will find both at this beautiful property!

What a lucky find! As an older couple, when we read about the low grade to the lake, we knew this was the house for us. The location is fantastic - in a cove next door to the diner and marina and it has a huge yard which was especially nice for the grandchildren. The house is very nice with comfortable furnishings and very nicely decorated. There are lots of pictures of family and former guests so the welcome mat is definitely out. We highly recommend Water's Edge.

For many years we have been the guests at this fabulous property during the third week of July. This year, we went again to see the fall colors which were magnificent. I was shocked, however, to see Mark's review and had to respond because his rental began the day ours ended and I felt as if I was reading about a different property! There is now only the owners' son's camper there which is located to the back and side of the property. In July, on a Saturday, we saw him there for we recognized him from the pictures inside so we approached him to introduce ourselves. A prince of a gentleman (in his forties, not a teenager) who told us he comes up on weekends when he can and SOMETIMES brings a couple of friends. He said he had that weekend but we never saw them. They were not there during the week, didn't play loud music, park cars in our driveway, use our dock or our fire pit - nothing to give the "public campground" feel. Also, that was a confusing comment about the yard. Doesn't matter to us whose name in the owner's family is on the deed. It all is a part of the rental property. We set up corn-hole, played horseshoes and badminton, used the fire pit and hammock all on the lot that was made to sound like it was not part of this property - which it is. What you see on the VRBO site is exactly what we use fully every year. We have already booked for next year and would not have done so if there were any problems. We are confident our 2012 stay will be just as pleasurable as all our previous years - and just like all the other guests found theirs.

What a wonderful time we had at this retreat! It was everything the listing described and more. The "feel" of this cottage was so comfortable, warm and serene. We slept so well here with the sense of peace and quiet. The owner certainly paid attention to details and everything was beautifully decorated, well maintained and very clean. All we needed was provided. Would highly recommend this vacation site and will certainly book again in the future.
