Arrived in the middle of a crushing 6 hour thunderstorm and awoke to a peaceful quiet day at Lake Nantahala. This is the second vrbo we have stayed in in NC, first time to Lake Nantahala. Water's Edge had everything we needed for a very comfortable week. I would recommend it to anyone who needs to relax and vacation at the same time, no need to rush through anything associated with the place. It was great!

What a lucky find! As an older couple, when we read about the low grade to the lake, we knew this was the house for us. The location is fantastic - in a cove next door to the diner and marina and it has a huge yard which was especially nice for the grandchildren. The house is very nice with comfortable furnishings and very nicely decorated. There are lots of pictures of family and former guests so the welcome mat is definitely out. We highly recommend Water's Edge.

What a wonderful time we had at this retreat! It was everything the listing described and more. The "feel" of this cottage was so comfortable, warm and serene. We slept so well here with the sense of peace and quiet. The owner certainly paid attention to details and everything was beautifully decorated, well maintained and very clean. All we needed was provided. Would highly recommend this vacation site and will certainly book again in the future.

We recently completed our second visit to this property, and there will be a third! Not only is the home itself perfectly charming, the location is ideal. The advantage of walking to the marina (for watercraft rental) and the diner (food is outstanding) is such a big plus in our book. The staff at both are very friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed an easy hike to a beautiful waterfall nearby, and drove to the top of nearby Wayah Bald, where the view is spectacular! Whether you want a relaxing vacation or fun-filled vacation, you will find both at this beautiful property!

We had a blast at your beautiful home. Magndia (our black lab) has never been more relaxed and happy. This is absolute doggie heaven...and my husband and I had a great time too. Thank you for the wine.

I can't tell you how thankful I am that i got to come up to the lake again. Thanks Mark and Gail. My cousins Patti and I had a wonderful time. I came out of the laundry room and there I was in 2 pics and boy did we have a good laugh! Fishing we tried but didn't catch any this year but we took a ride over to Blue Ridge and had trout at a great restaurant(Harvest on Main.) Thanks for sharing the beauty of this wonderful home. The lake house is the best. (Let's trade houses.)

The description is not accurate anymore. This was our 4th year visiting, however it's sad to say it will be our last. The home is nice and the view outstanding, but part of the property in the photos are actually of the lot next to this property. The owner's son has 2 camping trailers parked in this area (trailers not shown in photos) and different people used these during our 2 week stay along with the area's in the photos that are depicted as part of this rental property. One of the camping trailers is located right on the side/behind the home. The first few years we stayed here were great, but this last trip felt like we were at a public campground. I called the owner to voice our concerns and was told that this property was owned by her son and she had no control of who stayed there. The photos and description should not include this area as part of the rental property as it is not. Just be aware of this before booking.
Owner response:Owner's Response To Review We have had no complaints of any kind. We are sorry you were disappointed. You will be missed.

For many years we have been the guests at this fabulous property during the third week of July. This year, we went again to see the fall colors which were magnificent. I was shocked, however, to see Mark's review and had to respond because his rental began the day ours ended and I felt as if I was reading about a different property! There is now only the owners' son's camper there which is located to the back and side of the property. In July, on a Saturday, we saw him there for we recognized him from the pictures inside so we approached him to introduce ourselves. A prince of a gentleman (in his forties, not a teenager) who told us he comes up on weekends when he can and SOMETIMES brings a couple of friends. He said he had that weekend but we never saw them. They were not there during the week, didn't play loud music, park cars in our driveway, use our dock or our fire pit - nothing to give the "public campground" feel. Also, that was a confusing comment about the yard. Doesn't matter to us whose name in the owner's family is on the deed. It all is a part of the rental property. We set up corn-hole, played horseshoes and badminton, used the fire pit and hammock all on the lot that was made to sound like it was not part of this property - which it is. What you see on the VRBO site is exactly what we use fully every year. We have already booked for next year and would not have done so if there were any problems. We are confident our 2012 stay will be just as pleasurable as all our previous years - and just like all the other guests found theirs.

Thanks for putting your cabin on VRBO. Our family throughly enjoyed our week here. This was our base for some wonderful adventures. We, and the dogs,Maggie and Tilly, really loved the huge yard. This end and this side of the lake is the BEST!! We felt comfortable as soon as we walked in. Thanks again for a great week. It is over too quickly.

Our 3rd year here and just as perfect as ever! We completely enjoyed our 2 weeks here. The kids loved the swimming, fishing, boating, campfires and running around the yard. We enjoyed our family time and making memories. As always, the cottage was well kept and equiped. We love it here and can't wait to come back next year. As my daughter said today, "this is the #1 place to be!" My children are making memories here that will last a lifetime. It is so welcoming that we feel like it's our own home away from home. Thank you for sharing your home with us- we are already counting down to our visit next year! Thank you.

Thanks for all the special touches that made us and our mutts feel at home!!(You have a great decorating style.)We felt like we were at ADULT SUMMER CAMP! Enjoyed cruising around the lake, the ducks, the yard, bonfires, hammock, canoe and most of all the Hot Tub. Perfect weather for sleeping. We hit the streets in Andrews-great little shops. Found a few treasures. Other than that, we never left! Look forward to next year.

Beautiful, spacious, spotlessly clean home. We have stayed on the lake before and there isn't a property there that can compare to this one. Anywhere else, unless we were on the water, the children were on decks or docks (or under our feet - ha!) but at Water's Edge they had a yard! An enormous yard! I'll say no more - you might want our week.

My husband and I just recently returned from our trip to Lakeside. The home had been renovated recently and was very nicely furnished and very clean. There was space enough for all of us (our dogs included) to relax and feel at home. We had a wonderful time using the pontoon boat to go on the lake and enjoy the absolute beauty of the Nantahala area. The wine left as a gift for us was enjoyed at our meals and our 2 dogs, Rex and Abby, loved their bones! I certainly hope we will be able to return next year and would highly recommend this property to anyone who loves the mountains. Thanks!

What an absolutely fabulous vacation! The entire family had a wonderful time...even with a couple days of rain. It is so rare to find a vacation rental home that really feels inviting. The furnishings were comforting and so appropraite for a lake cabin, the kitchen was stocked so that you could actually cook a meal and the fact that Issy (our four-legged family member) was welcome, was a true blessing. We have been vacationing at Lake Lure for several years, but opted for a change this year. What a great decision! The Water's Edge and Lake Nanatahala has Lake Lure beat...hands down! Patty, you have created a true haven and we can't wait to return. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL VACATION!!! Ed, Tiffany, Highlind, Bernitta and Issy

There truly is no place in North Carolina like this place. The warmth, coziness, home-like feeling. There was not one thing that this house did not offer. My family including the dogs never wanted to leave. This was an experience everyone should have. There is absolutely no five star hotel anywhere that could offer what this house does. Kudos to Patty!!! See you next summer!

This place is wonderful! My family and I had a great time staying for a week in this cabin. It is decorated SO nice...all the little touches made us feel right at home. The cabin itself is beautiful but the yard was the best part about this place for our family. It is very hard to find a cabin right on the lake and especially with the backyard this house has. We enjoyed playing volleyball, baseball, bocce ball and then the kids would all jump in the lake to cool off (right from the dock in the back yard). We also just enjoyed sitting on the decks at sunset...it was so relaxing....and the view could be on a postcard. We just had a great time!! We can't wait to go back!
