Colorfully pigmented plasters adorn the walls, pine wood floors and Saltillo tiles are at your feet while Ponderosa vigas and skylights protect you overhead. Cook in the gorgeous, fully equipped country kitchen and warm your body next to the iron wood burning stove.
Casa Gallina has extensive gardens and private bedroom patios - All the comforts of a lived-in and loved home. The large Master Bedroom Suite has a Queen-sized iron-framed bed fitted with fine all-cotton or flannel sheets and an oversized goose-down comforter and pillows. The Master bedroom’s private patio has a hammock and comfortable chairs to sit and drink your morning coffee, drenched in the sun as it rises above the mountain. After a full day of hiking or skiing, soak in a hot bubble bath in the antique claw foot bathtub.
The 2nd bedroom as well has it’s own full bathroom and has a full-sized organic cotton futon bed also made with the finest thread cotton or flannel sheets and goose-down comforter and pillows. With French doors to it’s own private patio, you can relax and enjoy the view of the mountains or watch my nine different breeds of chickens run in the yard.
The country kitchen is the center of The Barred Rock with hanging iron pots and skillets and all the kitchen equipment you’ll need to cook up a five-course meal! Enjoy your meals at the old Mexican dining room table, sit on the cozy banco cushioned with sheepskins and pillows, and light the wood-burning stove to keep you warm all night long.
If you’re here for a longer stay, laundry facilities are available to you in Barred Rock as well. A washer and dryer are located in the 2nd bathroom.

Why the Owner Chose Taos
I am a gardener ... and living in the desert, I gravitate to water ... the houses that I have purchased six years ago are surrounded by two rivers and has an acequia madre (an ancient irrigation ditch) running through the land ... so the water attracted me and also there were good old hand made adobe structures that were here ... and I wanted to renovate and renew something old and tired ... it was the perfect fit for me!

In 1996 I left New York City in search of adventure, big skies and bigger perspectives. I discovered Taos. In the thirteen years I have been here, I have as well discovered the artist in me. Casa Gallina is the fruit of this discovery.
