ROME/ESQUILINO- Enjoy an apartment with amenities that are almost impossible to find in Rome.. I would describe my apartment as quiet, comfortable, with every luxury. Staying there you will feel as if you are actually living in Rome and are part of it all. The location is another factor. It is so easy to get around. Located on the east side, downtown, it is a large 1800 sq ft.,Two Bedroom (sleeps five, (one Queen-Sized bed in the Master Bedroom and one Double Bed in the Second Bedroom, one Rollaway Bed if needed), Two Full Baths,(two showers, one tub an one with a marble seat in the shower.). Located on the Italian 3rd floor, but is truly an American 4th, Elevator, Quiet, located in a Courtyard, for rent minium of three nights, weekly or longer.

The building was built 1894. The apartment has been completely Renovated and Designer Furnished---some Vintage mixed with Modern. There are Hardwood floors throughout. Huge windows from once upon a time, and the Original Wood Shutters that open to the courtyard, add to the charm. You may even see some Roman laundry hanging out to dry.

When you arrive you will find the refrigerator supplied with breakfast items to get you started.

You will be met by Martina, a young lady that will explain everything in the apartment to you and be a phone call away if you need anything.

Amenities include a large Chef's Kitchen, Miele Dishwasher, Miele Washer and Dryer, Large Refrigerator, a Six Burner Gas Stove, Oversized Electric Oven, Microwave, Toaster, Blender, Juicer, Utensils, High end Dishes, Stemware, Pots n Pans. Beautiful Linens are included. All appliances are new.
There are two hair dryers, alarm clocks, towels.

The apartment is fully Air Conditioned and Heated, all self controlled, as well as an Unlimited Supply of Hot Water.

There is Flatscreen TV, a Stereo, DVD, Desktop Computer with Broadband, WiFi, a Printer, Photo Printer, Photocopy Machine. A reference library on Italy is available in the apt. Music library, films mostly in Italian, Satellite TV, to watch BBC. There are two hair dryers.

Esquilino, is on the eastern side of the downtown area, (all of downtown and the major attractions are contained in a 2 mile radius),near the intercontinental train station Termini. The neighborhood is SAFE and very fun. Certainly the best location in the city for getting around on foot and to feel the real Rome. The Coloseum is a 10 minute walk, and if you are a walker, you may walk to all the sites.

The train to the airport or a fast train to Florence or Naples for for a day trip, is two blocks away. A Five Star gym, an elegant shopping mall,a supermarket, moblile phone store may all be found in the Train Station. A day of Swimming can be enjoyed at a Five Star Hotel located on the corner,(not included in rental price). The best Farmer's Market in Rome, where the Chef's go to shop, is one block.

Sitting in the cafes although, is the best activity.....people watching in Rome is worth the trip.

The location of the rental is near the corner of Via Principe Amedeo and Via Mamiami.

Great Apartment in Rome

Guest: jmical (Malta)
Date of Stay: 01/03/12 Review Submitted: 02/06/12

My family and I stayed in this apartment for almost a month and I can say that it is a truly wonderful apartment. We travel quite a lot because of work commitments and one of the most important things for us is to have a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. This apartment has really comfortable beds and I think that the kitchen is even better equipped than the one we have at home. The kitchen has all the utensils and gadgets you might wish for. The apartment has plenty of storage space and the lounge is very comfortable with TV and DVD player. It is also superbly located since it is only a very short walk to the Coliseum and to Termini. There is a fantastic market just down the road from the apartment and Mary who is a wonderful host has a great list of restaurants, gelaterias and cafeterias which she suggests for her guests. This is list is a gem since I am sure that we would not have tried these places if we had not had these on the list. The Gelateria which she suggests is a must. A great apartment.

Great Experience In Spite of Not Going to Rome

Guest: Dee (Pennsylvania)
Date of Stay: 12/27/11 Review Submitted: 01/13/12

How excited I was in planning my trip to Rome!! This apartment looked perfect for our needs. The owner, Mary, was a great communicator. She sent me all sorts of useful information about the apartment, sight seeing, dining, shopping, etc. She really helped me feel secure about making this trip. Several weeks after I made the deposit, I learned that one of my traveling companions could not make the trip as planned due to physical problems. Sadly I contacted Mary to let her know. I was shocked when she told me that she would return my deposit. What a kind gesture!! I will definitely try to stay there in the future.

Comfortable condo that lets you live like a Roman but enjoy the luxuries of a 5 star hotel

Guest: Joe from Toronto (Toronto, Canada)
Date of Stay: 10/28/11 Review Submitted: 11/23/11

Location, location, location. Even with our large 50 pound bags and carry ons, it was an easy walk from the Termini station into an ethnic but safe and friendly neighborhood to the building. Mary was always available to answer questions and sent great information about the area and restaurants. She even had her assistant Martina make reservations for us at an excellent and hard to get in restaurant. She was also in contact by email once we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed. She is in a word a very caring and wonderful owner. The condo itself is exactly as it looks in all the pictures. A wonderful place to come back and relax in after a day of walking all around Rome. And yes you can walk to almost all the major sites or jump on the subway around the corner. A nice treat was the things one needs for a morning breakfast (eggs, bread, milk, juice and coffee) were all there waiting for us on our arrival. It was fun to turn on the TV and see all the Italian stations but there were plenty of English stations as well. A treat was the CD player to listen to as we relaxed and had our wine and cheese before heading out to the many restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk. The beds were comfortable and provided a good nights sleep. The four of us would not hesitate to return and stay here once again.

Dream Vacation all I could want it to be thanks to the owner of this Apartment

My family of 4 stayed in the apartment for a week. We loved the space and amenities. What makes this rental special is the wonderful assistance Mary, the owner, gave us before and after our arrival. She left details about the best shopping, dining, tourist signt seeing, ect. Mary assisted me with planning my 20th anniversary so that we could build memories for a lifetime. This apartment is close to dining, train stration, metro, supermarket, and the bus terminal. You will love the comfort of knowing you have someone to contact while you are in Rome if you have any questions.

When In Rome

Guest: When in Rome (Melbourne, Australia)
Date of Stay: 07/15/11 Review Submitted: 08/04/11

My husband and two of our children stayed in this apartment in Rome for four nights during July 2011. The owner Mary was very helpful right from our original enquiry, during and after our stay. Martina met us on arrival and was kind enough to supply the staples for our first day - the apartment had brand new appliances and lots of material guiding guests to places to visit and eat in Rome. Initially unsure of the safety of the district we soon realised that it was all ok and there was a great restaurant called Aquila Nera further up the street that we went to twice with great staff and very affordable prices and delicious food. The proximity of the station was a bonus and the shopping centre therein was huge. We enjoyed a marvellous "Roman Holiday".

Great Apartment

Date of Stay: 05/16/11 Review Submitted: 06/01/11

The three of us enjoyed our four nights in your spacious apartment. It is very conveniently located to a great market, metro stops, and for walking to some some of Rome's wonderful sites. We appreciated the modern kitchen with great appliances, including dishwasher, washing machine AND dryer. The internet access was helpful, as we were able to check on things at home and set up some of our tours.

Great apartment - live like a local!

Guest: Canadians abroad (Brussels, Belgium)
Date of Stay: 02/03/11 Review Submitted: 02/08/11

My husband and I and a friend stayed in the apartment for 3 great days and all of our expectations were met - and more. Mary is a responsive owner, answering every email promptly, and as promised Martina was at the apartment when we arrived to show us the apartment. The description and photos are so accurate that I felt like I had already been there. Very clean, quiet, private and comfortable. The building itself is in a super location close to Termini, a short 5 minute walk coming off the airport express train. For real local flavour we referred to the recommendations for restaurants and markets which are all a short walking distance. Touring the rest of Rome easily done on foot and from the nearby Vittorio Emmanuele metro stop. Great kitchen - wish that we had been able to stay longer to take more advantage. What a bonus having the computer and printer to check-in online and print boarding passes for our return flights! Highly recommend for two couples. If you want to experience living in Rome like a local, this is a great apartment.

Fantastic For Foodies / Good in and Out

Guest: Jonathan17 (Chapel Hill, NC)
Date of Stay: 09/30/10 Review Submitted: 12/09/10

Four of us stayed here for 5 days and really enjoyed cooking each day. The kitchen has every utensil imaginable. And the market 2 blocks (on same street) away has literally everything you can think of...fresh fish, prosciutto, pastas you've never seen, wines, vegetables. Even if you don't cook, highly recommend taking a morning stroll through the market. There is also Pastry shop mentioned in the guide that is sent to you. OMG. We went there everyday! It was really nice being able to take the train and buses from the Termini (2-3 blocks) everywhere. We took trips to Pompeii and Florence with ease. And if you like to walk, it's not a bad stroll at all to the Forum and Coliseum. We even walked back from the Vatican (but we stopped for wine twice). Note, no need for converters or hairdryers, there are some at the apartment. There is also a mall below the train station. If the large, fresh market is closed, the grocery store on lower level of train station has good supplies. Enjoy! Ciao Bella from Chapel Hill, NC

Great apartment in Rome

Guest: K. (Minneapolis, MN)
Date of Stay: 11/21/10 Review Submitted: 12/03/10

My friends and I spent 4 days in Rome at Mary's apartment. It was a great space and Matilda was very welcoming. We appreciated having wireless internet (we had our laptops) as well as a washer and dryer handy. I wish we could have stayed longer to partake of the great kitchen and had some more meals in the space. We will have to save that for our next trip. I'd surely stay here again.
