ROME/ESQUILINO- Enjoy an apartment with amenities that are almost impossible to find in Rome.. I would describe my apartment as quiet, comfortable, with every luxury. Staying there you will feel as if you are actually living in Rome and are part of it all. The location is another factor. It is so easy to get around with every type of public transport at your doorstep. It is multi- ethnic and becoming a cool place to live.

Located on the east side, downtown, it is a large 1800 sq ft.,Two Bedroom (sleeps five, (one queen-sized bed in the Master bedroom and one double bed in the second bedroom, one Rollaway Bed if needed), Two Full baths,(two showers, one tub an one with a marble seat in the shower.). Located on the Italian 3rd floor, but is truly an American 4th, Elevator, Quiet, faces the Courtyard, for rent minium of three nights, weekly or longer.

The building was built 1894. The apartment has been completely Renovated and Designer furnished---some Vintage mixed with Modern. There are hardwood floors throughout. Huge windows from once upon a time, and the original wood shutters that open to the courtyard, add to the charm. You may even see some Roman laundry hanging out to dry.

When you arrive you will find the refrigerator supplied with breakfast items to get you started.

You will be met by Martina, a young lady that will explain everything in the apartment to you and be a phone call away if you need anything.

Amenities include a large Chef's Kitchen, Miele Dishwasher, Miele Washer and Dryer, Large Refrigerator, a Six Burner Gas Stove, Oversized Electric Oven, Microwave, Toaster, Blender, Juicer, Utensils, High end Dishes, Stemware, Pots n Pans. Beautiful Linens are included. All appliances are new.
There are two hair dryers, alarm clocks, towels.

The apartment is fully Air Conditioned and Heated, all self controlled, as well as an Unlimited Supply of Hot Water.

There is Flatscreen TV, a Stereo, DVD, Desktop Computer with Broadband, WiFi, a Printer, Photo Printer, Photocopy Machine. A reference library on Italy is available in the apt. Music library, films mostly in Italian, Satellite TV, to watch BBC. There are two hair dryers.

Esquilino, is on the eastern side of the downtown area, (all of downtown and the major attractions are contained in a 2 mile radius),near the intercontinental train station Termini. The neighborhood is SAFE and very fun. Certainly the best location in the city for getting around on foot and to feel the real Rome. The Coloseum is a 10 minute walk, and if you are a walker, you may walk to all the sites.

The train to the airport or a fast train to Florence or Naples for for a day trip, is two blocks away. A Five Star gym, an elegant shopping mall,a supermarket, moblile phone store may all be found in the Train Station. A day of Swimming can be enjoyed at a Five Star Hotel located on the corner,(not included in rental price). The best Farmer's Market in Rome, where the Chef's go to shop, is one block.

Sitting in the cafes although, is the best activity.....people watching in Rome is worth the trip.

The location of the rental is near the corner of Via Principe Amedeo and Via Mamiami.

All rates quoted reflect an occupancy of four people. If a fifth, wishes to stay a 50 euro additional cost will be applied to the daily rate. OTHER THAN THAT, THERE ARE NO ADDITIONAL COSTS.

I stayed in Mary's luxury apartment commencing May 29, 2013. The pictures are accurate and the apartment is spotless. Upon arrival you are greeted by a beautiful smiling face of Martina who will show you how everything works. I loved the hardwood floors throughout and the spacious kitchen and living room. The bedrooms are very roomy and the beds were extremely comfortable. After walking to most of the major sites it was pleasing during the evening to be able to spreadout and relax. Sure beats the cramped spaces of a hotel room. Please note there is a washer/dryer to use and I took full advantage during my stay. Train station is a 5 minute walk, makes it easy to roll the luggage. There are travel books on a shelf to assit in exploring Rome, came in very handy for me. The information Mary sends to you will help your stay in Rome. Mary's Information package includes restaurants and other activities. I tried 2 recommened restaurants and both were extremely enjoyable. Very cost effective to stay here and I would recommend this apartment anyone. Mary is a very gracious host and wants you to enjoy your holiday.

Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

This is a lovely condo is a nice part of town although not close to most of the sights. It's very roomy, very well furnished, very comfortable, and was nicely stocked with snacks, a bottle of wine, etc. when we arrived. Of the four places we stayed in Europe, it was by far our favorite. Bathrooms are kind of small but that seems to be the standard in Europe. I would definitely recommend this to anyone staying in Rome for a period of time. It's close to the metro, the Termini train station, and a couple of grocery stores. It's very easy to get around on the metro and buses. We bought a Rome Pass for 34 Euros which was well worth it as we didn't have to wait in the long line at the Colosseum and it works on all buses and the metro. Here's some helpful info on finding the condo: If you are arriving via the train from the airport, go LEFT when leaving the train (against the crowd who are almost all going right toward the exit). Walk about 1/4 mile to the big 'E' sign. Jog a little to the right and continue until you see tracks 25, 26, and 27. At that point you can take the stairs or elevator down to street level. You will be facing the grocery store at this point. Go out the main exit just before the grocery store and walk across the street toward the book store (the sign will say CD DVD and libres (I think)). Continue up that street for 2 blocks. (If you go 3, you'll reach the park and have gone too far.) Go right and walk about 50 more yards and you are there. NOTE: If you arrive by Metro or bus at Termini, just go up to the train level and find track 24 and follow the directions above.

My daughter and I stayed at Mary's apt for 5 days. It was a great location close to the Rome termini. We walked from the termini with or baggage and it was a 7 min walk. Very easy to catch tours, buses and trains while staying here. The apt was huge and perfect. Exactly as pictured. Mary and I spoke many times before our arrival and she was very helpful in planning all of the details. The beds were very comfortable. It is much less expensive than a hotel and yet much nicer and more relaxing. It's a very quiet building. We had a fantastic stay. Thank you Mary for helping to make our trip a memorable one.

My daughter and I stayed at Mary's apt for 5 days. We had a great time. The apartment is beautiful and exactly as pictured. The beds were very comfortable and we slept easily. The apt has many amenities and was very nice and in a quiet area. We walked from the rome termini with our luggage when we arrived and it was a quick 7 min walk. All of the buses, tours and trains can be caught at the termini which made it easy to get around. We also walked a lot. Things are closer than the map shows. Mary gave us a lot of valuable info which helped us plan our Tay. She responds quickly to emails and calls and answered all of my questions. It is much nicer than a hotel, more relaxing after a long day and much less expensive. We would stay here gain if we rerun to Rome. Thank you Mary for helping to make our trip a memorable one for my daughter and I.

We are two retired couples on a 19 day trip in Italy and Barcelona. Rome was our first stop and we stayed at the condo for 3 nights and used AnneMarie Gehle for two tours. It was nice to have some room to spread out (unlike living in a hotel room). Condo owner Mary Matteis was most helpful in providing us with lots of information prior to our arrival which helped to lower our anxiety level about traveling in Italy. The condo is very nice, clean, and furnished with the owner's collectibles and we were very comfortable there. Having some snacks in the refrigerator was a wonderful surprise. The condo is only a few blocks from the Termini train station which was very convenient when you are rolling luggage. If we explore Rome again some day, we will return! Thank you Mary and AnneMarie for getting our trip off to a great start!

Our group of 4 stayed at this condo in September and it is perfect for a short getaway to Rome. The condo is exactly as described and full of the amenities most travelers desire. It is a short walk from the main train station that links travelers to the local metro and countrywide Trenitalia. This was super convenient, since we used trains almost every day. The condo itself was perfect for our needs and the washer and dryer were a welcome benefit. Beds were comfortable and kitchen and baths were nicely appointed too. The only drawback was the location in Rome, the condo is over a mile away from some of the main sights like the Colosseum & Pantheon and well over 2 miles away from the Vatican. If you are looking to solely walk around Rome, you might want a more centrally located property.

Four of us stayed here and it was very nice. The neighborhood is very ethnically diverse but also very safe. After the first day we felt right at home. We loved the market down the street and cooked more than we thought we would since there is such a great variety of fresh food available. Mary and Martina were there to meet us and show us the ropes. We used the metro to go everywhere. It gets a little crowded but is so quick and easy. We would not hesitate to stay here again. Mary arranged a car for the airport that was really a blessing. Her guide recommendation was spot on.

This was our first time in Rome. Mary's apartment was perfect for us. We were a family of four traveling and the apartment was very spacious. It has all the comforts of home. We met Matina at the apartment and gave us the key. She welcomed us with some groceries.....milk, coffee, bread, eggs, butter and jams. Thank you Mary for being so helpful and giving me so much information. We enjoyed our tours to the Vineyard, Castel Gandolfo and the Vatican. Buses, taxis cabs and the train station are close by the apartment. We hope to visit again.

Our stay at this apartment was wonderful! The location is great. We literally walked to everything. The apartment itself is very nice. It was clean, well maintained and had everything we needed. The kitchen was fantastic, although we only used it for breakfast, you could easily cook a gourmet meal with all the appliances. The washer/dryer was very helpful too! Mary (the owner) was so helpful with everything from the minute we booked the apartment to right before we arrived. She arranged a car for us to get to the airport on our last day, put us in touch with a wonderful tour guide who gave us a private tour of the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's. I can't say enough about this apartment. When we go back to Rome we will definitely stay here again! Joanne and Steve Carlsbad, CA
