Perfect Vacation without the Air Travel!

Guest: Adrienne (Naugatuck CT)
Date of Stay: 10/16/09 Review Submitted: 06/03/11

I had the pleasure of staying at this lovely vacation home twice now, and am looking forward to a third visit! The first was a summertime "girls getaway", and the 2nd was a gorgeous autumn weekend to celebrate my birthday with my family. Both stays were as wonderful as I had hoped. The lake is so pretty and serene. During the summer visit, the cool breezes were so welcoming, and during the fall visit, I cannot accurately describe the BEAUTY! This little Home, (you can hardly call it just a cabin) is just as lovely as the photos described. So clean, bright, and comfortable. The owners put such thought into the decor. We had everything we needed to enjoy all the comforts of a 1st class vacation! After a day of shopping in nearby Sturbridge Village, and enjoying a wonderful Fall Festival at the Publik House, we could have had dinner at the many nearby resturants, but were even more happy to return to our little oasis and enjoy a barbecue and dine in our own gazebo.! Whether we were swimming, fishing, out on the canoe or relaxing on the deck, we were enjoying every minute. I would highly recommend this vacation site to anyone who is looking for a fun filled getaway with ALL the comforts of home. I look forward to my next visit! Sincerely, Adrienne

Owner response:Well, what more can we say? If you try us, you'll like us! Remember, we are not just a summer vacation spot. Take your "sweetie" away for a very cozy, romantic fall or winter week or weekend. We can arrange whatever accomodations you would like. Massage? Delivered dinner? Ice skating? Bon Fire by the lake with hot cocoa and s'mores? Let us know what you are dreaming about and we can help make it come true.

Delightful respite

Guest: Southerners (Ala)
Date of Stay: 04/01/11 Review Submitted: 05/31/11

My husband and I visit with our son and family several times during the year. We are from Alabama. For the grandchildren to know us and we them, we need to stay a while. This cozy cottage is perfect. We need some down time and space and the warm bright clean and inviting cottage welcomes our return each day. The neighbors we meet are walking their dog or getting exercise and are very friendly. The neighborhood country store, just a delightful walk away, fixes excellent lunches when you don't want to cook. He is also full of information!! My husband is a sailor, so the lake and water speak to him...very soothing. There couldn't be a nicer landlady. .

Owner response:It's so nice to hear that other people love our cottage as much as we do. We try very hard to appeal to everyone's idea of relaxation so whether you are sitting in the gazebo sipping a glass of wine, swinging gently in the hammock, casting your line off the dock, exploring in the canoe or kayak, or simply sitting in a lawn chair with a good book, it is almost impossible not to relax and enjoy the view.

We found Maine in Connectucut

Guest: BT (USA)
Date of Stay: 07/09/10 Review Submitted: 07/19/10

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. We normally go to Maine in the summer but this year decided to do something different and we're so glad we did!! We found the peace, solitude and beauty that we usually do without the 8 hour drive to Maine or the mammoth sized mosquitoes. The lake is clean and warm and right outside the door. We went swimming and canoeing every day.

Owner response:We are always thrilled to hear that our renters enjoyed our cottage as much as we do! It truly is "a little bit of heaven" and it always amazes me how stepping out the door and looking at the breeze rippling the water completely relaxes you within minutes. Please try us for your next vacation. A weekend during late summer and fall is ideal (and very romantic!)

June 2010 Stay

Guest: City folk (Brooklyn, NY)
Date of Stay: 06/18/10 Review Submitted: 06/22/10

We had a great time at the cottage. I stayed there with my 1 year old and husband for a long weekend. Coming from Brooklyn, we really enjoyed the hammock, morning paddle boat rides, shaded lawn, and the gas grill. The cottage was very clean and had lots of great extra amenities like beach towels, cooking utensils, condiments, books, and DVDs. The only negatives were that we couldn't bring our dog and it is on the corner of a somewhat busy road, but it was still pretty quiet except for the occasional motorcycle. If you're looking for a weekend getaway that is reasonably priced, I'd recommend it.

Fabulous!

Guest: Frenzy (Greenwich CT)
Date of Stay: 09/04/09 Review Submitted: 03/26/10

Dear Denise & Mark, I wanted to thank you for a wonderful get-away at your warm, charming and inviting cottage. The view from the living room window is beautiful, and the gazebo by the lake was the perfect place to read and relax with a glass of wine or a pitcher of lemonade. The short ride to Sturbridge was great for shopping, sight-seeing and dining. It was so refreshing to stay at a rental property that exceeded our expectations, and we look forward to another visit in the near future. Sincerely, Natalie, Billy & Allison Frenz

Owner response:This is what we are all about. There is something for everyone when you visit our lakeside cottage in the very quaint town of Ashford. A bonus is that Sturbridge, MA is only a 12-15 minute ride away and there are so many things to do in Sturbridge along with many, many wonderful restaurants. We have a listing in the cottage of all the attractions you can find in the local area along with menus from many restaurants. Bear in mind that the cottage is not just a "summer place." It is incredible in the fall and very romantic and cozy in the winter. If you are looking for a very reasonably priced getaway, please give us a shot at reducing your stress and making you HAPPY!!

A little bit of heaven by the lake

Guest: PenelopeJ (Syracuse, NY)
Date of Stay: 07/04/08 Review Submitted: 03/26/10

We love this cottage! All of the amenities are up to date and complete. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you might need for a wonderful vacation. The owners even have a welcome letter explaining how to to the TV, DVD player, etc. When we arrived, the place was spotlessly clean, and everything smelled fresh. It's so relaxing to be able to build a fire right by the lake and watch the sun set. There are very friendly neighbors (not too close) so you don't feel totally isolated. We highly recommend this rental, the owners obviously take pride in their little bit of heaven right by the lake. We can't wait for the summer to spend more time there.
