The pleasure of our vacation experience began when we entered the condo my wife and I had rented for two weeks. The accommodation was more than what we expected - the promotional pictures sold it short! It was comfortable, spacious and had all the amenities that we would want if we were at home. Resort staff were extremely friendly and eagar to help. Richard was always available, encouraging us to use the pool, of which he was extremly proud. It was clean and easily accessible and he always had cold lemonade or similar drinks available at pool side. Susan was always rushing around, had a cheerful "hi" or "good morning" and always wanted to make sure things were to our liking. The grounds were clean and well groomed. If we were to complain, it would be about those damn doves that insisted on waking us about 0600h each morning!! Travelling to and from Kihei, whether it was to the numerous beaches just up the road, Lahaina for the best Luau on Maui, Kahului to shop or Haleakala and it's small villages, was simple and enjoyable. There always was something to see and do or, not do but sit back and relax! Once you found the best shopping for provisions, in our opinion, was Safeway and checked out the many eating places available, when you tired of using the BBQ or eating in, visits to Mulligans-on-the-Blue, Moose McGillycuddy's, Buzz' Wharf or the Aloha Plate in Lahaina, our personnal favourites, was an easy decision. Using the Pi'ilani Highway to it's best advantage, getting around couldn't be easier when going to these places or to Wailea or even Makawao. Hilo Hattie's, a good place to shop for take home items, was a too expensive and took advantage of tourists. The Outback Restaurant was a bad experience and best described as a high end, fast food outtlet. It's best to look around and with very little effort, you can find everything you'd ever want at prices that the locals enjoy! Everyone we met, from the permanent residents and neigbours Mike and Dottie at the Resort, locals who worked in the stores, Kahului airport, Heliport, car rental and people you'd meet everywhere you went, all were helpful and friendly. I even had the opportunity to play with the Island of Maui Pipe and Drum Band - a great bunch of pipers and drummers. Maui, I'd return anytime. The result is well worth it. Next time, maybe it'll be 3 or 4 weeks! I would and have already recommended the Kihei Resort as an accommodation and Kihei as an end destination.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Dennis & Anna, Thank you for a wonderful two weeks (07/19/11-08/01/11)Summer Vacation at Kihei Resort!! Your beautiful apartment allowed me, my husband and my two kids to enjoy beautiful Maui in extreme comfort. The apartment was nicer and better than pictures and description on the web site, exceeded my expectations: clean, spacious, and beautifully furnished with anything you could possibly need and lots more that you can even imagine that you will find at a rental vacation. For us the area was the perfect location. The surroundings were very private and quiet. There are so many things to do and see, grocery stores were very close, loved eating from TImes Market. We had lots of adventures including snorkeling in Molokini, private surfing classes in Kihei, swimming in Makena, hiking at the Haleakala, shopping and eating in Lahaina, visiting or local friends in Makawao, Pukalani, Kula, Wailuku & Waihee, taking our kids to where we used to live in Haliimaile by '90-'94, spending a whole day admiring the MOST BEAUTIFUL Place on EARTH....Hana!!!! , but it was so nice just sit by the lanai and relax. A great place for a family. Thank you again for your hospitality and letting us use and enjoy your beautiful apartment. This is the 3rd time we visit Maui and staying in Kihei after we had to leave by 1994, our kids just want to move back to the island and we are looking forward on making this possible soon. We will highly recommend it to friends and family! We'll be back.Recommended for: Families with teenagers.

This was my first trip to Maui. My husband and I stayed here for our 25th anniversary and LOVED this place. The place was decorated very cute and good quality items provided throughout. It was very quiet, well kept condo and grounds. We stayed in August, and most of the time just opened the windows and felt the cool breeze from the tradewinds. In the morning, you could hear the birds chirping. Lots of flowers around and right across the street from the beach. It is a small beach across the street, but a very close drive(right down the street in either direction) to larger beach areas. We preferred to drive further north and south to more secluded beaches where there was fantastic snorkeling(recommended by a guy at Boss Frog's shop where we picked up some Luau and Molokini snorkeling excursion tickets) The entire island was wonderful. Didn't care a lot for the Molokini excursion as we saw many more fish for free at Honolua Bay. We attended the Old Lahaina Luau on our anniversary. It was great food, show and drinks. If you haven't attended a luau I would definetely recommend attending this one. Owner provided great communication. Absolutely everything we needed was here. (coolers, ice packs, beach items, pots/pans, hair dryer, etc) There wasn't a thing we could think of we needed and didn't have. There is a bus line that stops right outside, but we rented a car and went all around Maui. You must go down Hana Highway and see all the waterfalls. At the condo there are some CD's that you can play while you are driving that tells you some great places to stop. We found this to be VERY HELPFUL, even though the CD we listened to my husband found the lady annoying. Another must do is going to the summit of Haleakala. Hoping to be able to return in the future and would strongly recommend staying here.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My wife and our two young children spent a week at Kihei Resort and we will definitely be back. The pictures on the website don't do this condo justice. The decor is impeccable and there is planty of room even with a 3 year old and a 6 year old running around. Everyone at the resort was very friendly and you could tell their main goal was to make sure your stay was perfect. My correspondence with the owner made me feel at ease. Dennis is very professional and responds quickly to emails. We have been vacationing on Maui for many years and have never really found a place that was so great we would return, until now. Kihei Resort is in the perfect location and Dennis is a great person to rent from. I would highly recommend this condo to anyone who is looking to relax and enjoy everything that Maui has to offer.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

What a wonderful little gem Kihei Resort is. Very tropical, very well maintained. Everyone we ran into was nice and helpful. Susan was especially great. We loved that Kihei Resort is a bit removed from the hustle and bustle of the larger more crowded beaches. The condo was a treat and better than advertised. The pictures don't do it justice. Everything we needed for the beach was provided, and the kitchen was just like cooking at home. The correspondence with Dennis & Annie was prompt and professional. From the first e-mail to the last we felt comfortable dealing with a couple we had never met. We started every morning with a walk on the beach and ended each day watching spectacular sunsets. We would recommend a snorkeling trip to Molokini (we got to swim with a huge Hawaiian monk seal!) with a stop at Turtle Town. In Lahaina we saw a show called Ulalena that was fun and Warren and Annabelle's magic show that was very entertaining. We can't wait to go back and we will be staying at Kihei Resort. Thanks again Dennis & Annie.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We have been to Maui four times and this was the best trip we've had. We were looking for a place that was centrally located and we found it at Kihei Resort. We love to take in everything the island has to offer and we didn't have to drive far to any attractions. The gardens at Kihei Resort are very quiet and plush. Nice pool and well maintained. The condo was very clean and stocked with everything we needed. It has chairs, umbrellas, towels, etc. for the beach and many sizes of coolers to choose from. We loved the complete kitchen so we could eat in when we wanted, and the washer/dryer inside the unit was very nice. It is also larger than other units we stayed in, like a one bedroom apartment. We spent several nights across the street at Kalepolepo Beach Park watching the Kihei sunsets. Plenty of shopping within a mile or so, and several more beautiful beaches up and down the Kihei coast within a 10 minute drive. This unit is as advertized. Rest assured that you will have a home away from home. Dennis & Annie communicated well and answered all our questions in a speedy fashion. Susan is a wonderful host. We have recommended this condo to friends and family and we intend to stay there again next time we go.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+.

The description of the condo was not accurately depicted. The king sized bed is actually 2 singles pushed together with nothing but the bed sheet holding them together, didn't work so well. The one minute walk to the "beautiful beach park" is a stretch. The beach park is a SMALL inlet with a rocky beach and its not pretty nor is there a place to swim. I don't recommend staying here without a car, there is nothing close by. The monsoon india resteraunt across the street was disgusting! The night we arrived there was a cockroach on the bed. When we called the care taker she said she would look into it and call us the following day. We never herd from her. The condo was in good shape, and the pool/grounds keeper was very nice. There were lots of amenities to use at the condo, coolers, umbrellas, toys, ice packs. Far from romantic though. I would NEVER recommend this property to a friend!Owner response: Unfortunately, when you rent out a vacation home you get the occasional problem guest. In the four and a half years Annie and I have been renting our condo we have returned every guests security deposit except one, and that was because they broke a lamp and insisted on paying for it. When these guests checked out, our cleaner, Susan, notified us that the drapes had mud on them and there was a juice stain on the carpet. When I notified the guests that I would have to use there security deposit to pay for cleaning the damaged items she responded by writing this review. Most of her claims are just not true. We have sat on the sand and swam at Kalepolepo beach many times so I don't know which beach she was talking about. The only establishments we recommend are the ones we have frequented. Just for information I point out nearby businesses that might be of use to our guests. Since we switched from a commercial cleaning service to Susan, a woman who lives in Kihei Resort, we have had only compliments about how clean the condo is when the guests arrive. Many vacation rentals will use two single beds pushed together to create a king size bed with a foam bridge to fill the gap. The reason being that not all people that travel together, sleep together. The beds can be pulled apart to make two single beds. This is the first guest we've had that has even mentioned it, let alone complain about it. For us, Maui is still as romantic as it gets. I think you will see from reading our other reviews that we provide a clean, well furnished condo, with our guests best interests at the forefront. Our goal is to have our guests return again and again. That won't happen if we don't provide the best accommodations we can. Dennis & Annie

I have been to Mau'i a few times, and have always stayed different places. This is a property I would certainly come back to in the future. It was very clean and comfortable, not too big....not too small, and with lots of extra little things available to help you with your stay in paradise. The kitchen was very complete for all of our meals. Coolers, beach chairs, grass mats, umbrellas, guide books, everything you need to help you enjoy your stay. It was also very nice having laundry available in the unit. I loved the grounds at the Kihei Resort. The small fountains, Coy pond, geckos (at night), banana trees, and all the other tropical plants were all very scenic and well maintained. The pool area was always a once or twice daily stop, and everyone I met there was friendly and polite. Most of them live there fulltime, but treated us like we had been neighbors for years. Also the onsite staff was always friendly and helpful with any of our needs. One other thing I really like is it's north Kihei location. Much quieter and Very Convenient. Just a quick drive to stores like Safeway, etc...but if you want to bypass all the stop and go traffic of central and south Kihei, it is easy to jump onto the highway to get to Wailea and Makena beaches, and also quicker to get to the west Maui areas of Olowalu, Lahaina, Kaanapali, etc, or to go north to Kahului, Upcountry, or take the drive to Hana. All in all, for the money, this place was the best value to be found on the island, and believe me, I have looked! Most people go to Mau'i to go to the beach, snorkel, surf, hike etc. The condo is a place to eat meals, unwind after a long day, and rest up for the next full day. You want it peaceful, clean, quiet, yet liveable. Whether you a single adult, two single adults, a couple, or a family of 4, then this would be perfect for you. Don't miss out on this gem!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2005
About the owner: Dennis is a wine distributor and Annie works for The Postal Service in the Napa Valley, California. We first came to Maui in 1995 and have returned every year since. We bought our condo so we would have a familiar place to stay while on our annual trip. We have six children, 13 grandchildren, and two cats and two dogs. We love to scuba dive, hike, and just hang out at the beach. Ending each day with a glass of Napa Valley's finest and watching the best sunsets in the world from Kihei.
Why the Owner Chose Kihei Resort:
We were initially drawn to Kihei Resort because of it's central location to the entire island. You can walk to the beach park across the street in one minute or Three Mile beach in five minutes. Many more beaches are within a ten minute drive. Kahalui Airport, Hana Highway, the start of the drive to Haleakala, and Lahaina are all less than 30 minutes away. All our shopping needs are within a mile and a half. South Kihei Rd. is packed with fine restaurants.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Kihei Resort is referred to as the best kept secret in Kihei. The lava fountains and plush gardens creates a paradise within a paradise. We love our morning walks to and along Three Mile Beach. Occasionally, we see a family of Humpback Whales making their way through Maalaea Bay.
