Location: Downieville, Gold Country & High Sierra, California, USA (2 hours from Reno, NV; 2.5 hours from Sacramento, CA)
Accommodations: House, 2 Bedrooms + Bunk Area, 2 Baths (Sleeps 8-10)
Located in the heart of Gold Country and the Tahoe National Forest, Willoughby's on the River overlooks the most beautiful spot on the North Fork of the Yuba River. Situated at the end of River Street, the property is within walking distance of historic downtown Downieville.
The house overlooks a naturally-formed swimming and fishing hole and is often frequented by deer in the early mornings and late evenings. The soothing sounds of the river and wind in the pines bring instant relaxation to our guests.
There are 4 beds downstairs--a queen and a single in the downstairs bedroom, and 2 singles in the downstairs sleeping alcove. In the upstairs master suite, there are 2 beds--a queen & single. In the family area downstairs, there are 2 large sofas that can accommodate additional sleepers. We have a completely equipped kitchen and on-site laundry facilities.
Willoughby's is perfect for a getaway for 2 or for a multi-member family reunion.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1959
We live and work in Arizona. Dallas runs a small training company and Jeff works for the Arizona Department of Education. We seem to have forgotten to retire (love our work) and are dedicated homebodies in our off time. But we love to get away to our mountain retreat whenever possible.
Why the Owner Chose Downieville
We inherited Willoughby's in 2002. It has been in the family since 1959. It is where we go for R&R and serious kick-back time.
The Unique Benefits of this House
We love to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We soak in the sound of the river and wind in the trees. We read with our feet up while sipping a "brew." (We know others revel in more active pastimes and in the company of friends, family, and larger groups. That's the beauty of this place--it suits just about everyone!)
