Over 50 years ago, our grandparents updated this charming oceanfront beach house and turned it into their full-time island home. Five generations later, our family continues to enjoy Seaweeds as often as we can. While we no longer live full-time on Oahu, our hearts remain here. We return regularly to relax and visit old friends, and enjoy the beauty and spirit of Hawaii. This is our home away from home, filled with years of wonderful memories. We take pride in keeping our family home crisp, clean and well maintained.
It is rare to find an oceanfront home located on an oversized lot that is centrally located to many of the island’s attractions. The large private frontyard is planted with plumerias, bird of paradise, ginger, ferns, and banana trees. Another rarity, is our very large and gracious old mango tree which produces perhaps the best tasting mangoes on the island. Our beachside grassy lawn sits right on the beach, offering fabulous views of the ocean.
We have an on-site caretaker; a delightful lady who will answer all of your questions and get you directions to anywhere on the Island you want to go.
Seaweeds offers ‘ohana’ or family-style relaxed living the old Hawaiian way. The 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath home is located 25 minutes from the airport. 1 bedroom has a King size bed, one bedroom has a full size bed with a twin bed and one bedroom has 2 twin beds (which can be configured into a King size bed upon request.) All bedrooms are air conditioned. There is a wonderful outdoor shower and you may never want to shower inside again!
This gorgeous setting is conducive to relaxation and rejuvenation. Take a nap on the Hawaiian 'Hiki’e' (daybed) on the tradewind-cooled enclosed lanai, or lay on one of the beachfront chaise lounges and sip tropical drinks and thrill your senses with the beautiful ocean view, complete with the sound of the waves lapping on the shore.
If you feel more energetic, take one of the on-site kayaks for a paddle in the reef-protected beach or take a stroll down the beach. A 5-minute stroll can lead you to the Kahala Mandarin Oriental Hotel where you can enjoy a breakfast, brunch, lunch, cocktails or dinner. Adjacent to the Kahala Mandarin Hotel is the Waialae Country Club, home of the Sony Open. If your trip is well timed, you will be able to follow your favorite golfer during the Sony Open.
In the evenings, enjoy beachside grilling and dine in the large enclosed lanai while watching the spectacular sunsets.
Our central location in Honolulu finds you close to most island attractions. Great restaurants, famous beaches and golf courses are only minutes away. Waikiki (10 min.), Kahala Mall (3 min.), Hanauma Bay (5 min.), Iolani Palace (15 min.), Pearl Harbor (20 min.)
