My family and I rented this beach house this past May, as my youngest sister was graduating from the University of Hawaii. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Irene the caretaker. Throughout our stay, she helped us with whatever we needed. The house was older, but beautifully maintained and was even nicer than the pictures depicted. There are plumeria trees and other tropical foliage on the grounds. Our favorite tree was the little red guava tree near the outside shower. The highlight of the beach house was definitely the lanai. It was the perfect place to relax with cool breezes and an amazing ocean view. The beach is a little rocky, but we had a lot of fun using the kayaks. There is a full kitchen, so we could cook our own meals when we wanted to. The location was very convenient and near a main road. Both Costco and the Kahala Mall are very close by. We drove into downtown Honolulu/Waikiki nearly everyday and it was only 15 minutes or so away. We would definitely recommend this house to anyone visiting Oahu.
Owner response:Mahalo for staying at the Seaweeds and for your kind review. Irene thoroughly enjoyed meeting you and said you were delightful guests. Glad you enjoyed the kayaks! Mahalo.

We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you to Irene for being such a wonderful caretaker. Her words of advice and tips were bang on. We felt safe knowing someone is always there to help us. We went with our 3 kids- two teens and one 10 yr old. The bedroom sizes, bed configurations, and 3 bedrooms were ideal. The house was very clean. It is older but well maintained and the location was great. You will want to rent a car, but w/ a car you are only 15 min. away from Waikiki in one direction and the same to Hanauma Bay (great snorkeling) in the other direction. At low tide you can walk to the Kahala Hotel. There is lots to do there and the beach there is great for kids. You need to go at high tide, but when you do kayaking from the house is a ton of fun. The house is also ideally located for you to take in the sunrise each day. The openness of it and the views to the ocean which is just on the back yard, from the master, the guest bedrooms and the living room + sun room are wonderful. Finally- make sure you hike up to the top of Diamond Head which is a 5 min drive away to catch the sunrise. Kahala Mall nearby also made everything very convenient for grocery shopping, Starbucks, etc. Thank you Irene once again and to Susu who arranged for a wonderful stay. We hope to be back soon.
Owner response:Mahalo for staying at the Seaweeds Beach House and for the wonderful review. We're glad you and your family enjoyed your time here and we look forward to your return.

Ava's first big adventure! We spent two wonderful weeks here and introduced Ava to waves, SAND! and shave ice. Ava did her first real crawl. She also sprouted two new teeth, so this makes four!

Our trip was a great success and all of us really enjoyed our stay. The beach house reminded us so much of the way things were in Hawaii when we were younger. It is wonderful that this place has been preserved and used so well by the family, and that they have allowed others to enjoy it as well. David really enjoyed the outside shower! Can't do that at home!
Owner response:Thank you for staying at the Seaweeds Beach House! It definitely has given many generations wonderful memories. I hope you and your family made some new ones as well.

It is our second time visiting - this time with the new member of our family! Our cousins live right down the beach, so it was amazing being so close to them! We loved being able to see the ocean from the bedroom windows.

Have stayed here twice. It's a wonderful, old-style Hawaii beach home. Nice yard area for the kids to play. Very comfortable for a family of 6+. Manager (Susu) is great. On-site caretaker is a total sweetheart.
Owner response:Freddie, thank you for returning to the Seaweeds in April. Irene really exemplifies the Aloha Spirit and she enjoyed visiting with you. We hope to see you and your family out here again.

We came back for our Punahou Reunion and it was so much to return to this beautiful, relaxed and welcoming home after each day's adventure. Particularly fun because our parent shave loved the Seaweeds so much over the years. The outdoor shower was FABULOUS! It was a wonderful return to our high school home and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to spend our time in Honolulu. Thank you!

I was excited to be here. More than anything else this is a treat to be in Gummy's house. I will always treasure the moment. Actually I got fried yesterday at the beach, body surfing was wonderful. I saw a ghost crab, very friendly fellow. My prayers are always with you Gummy & Mom. Miss you both, love you even more.

The stay here was our dream vacation for several reasons. First the location was breath taking. We 5 ate hamburgers on the lanai and talked family style. Our daily walks or runs down the beach and around felt perfect. The house was just what I pictured it to be from the description on the internet.. "S" (age 9) randma & Grandpa slept soundly in the yellow pillow room. Mom nd Dad loved privacy in the Master Bedroom - loving common spaces, dinners together,& large well stocked kitchen made this beach home just what we all needed. Lastly, Irene was so nice & friendly and made us feel like we're the only guests who stay here. She gave us friendly tips & suggestions. PS. How about a big chair to read in down on the lanai?

What a fantastic and beautiful place! We enjoyed every moment here at the "Seaweeds" - from the private beach, the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets to the delightful evening dinners having good times with good friends. Staying here in this picturesque setting was just the beginning of our island hopping adventure, but one that is impressed in our memories forever, due to the unique, beautiful and near magic wonder of this place.

Did we score or did we score? The view, the serenity & the warmth of the house have been absolutely incredible. 9 women all representing various stages and walks of life - coming from Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Kentucky & California! This house has been an answer to our prayers and has served us all very well. Plus it was a treat to have the house right along the Marathion route - Mile 12 and Mile 21. It was my personal fueling station but the ladies were able to ncourage & cheer hundreds of other runners. Thank you for having your home - your history - your tips & advice for all of us. We have been blessed.

-Our trip was filled with sun, sand, sun and mangoes! The kayaks were a delight to use and the stars were maginificent. -We really appreciated the small details that made this house so comfortable, like the clothes line, reading lights in bed and endless supplky of wash cloths! We love mangoes! -The sound of the waves are a sweet lullaby for the soul. The roomy house is well equipped and has an open feel that maximizes the ocean view. The comfort, joy, and spirit of Hawaii will be long remembered.

This is our first visit to Seaweeds and we LOVE it here! It reminds us of a cross between our grandma's old house on Kinana St. in Kahala and their beach house at Keawakapu on Maui where we spent our summers as kids. My mother is Punahou (Class of '67) and we are here to commemorate my grandpa's amazing 90 years.

We came with my parents to share the celebration of their 60th anniversary. We have been to Oahu 2 times before but this trip will always hold a special place in our hearts. From seeing my mother & father dance, my father singing with Don Ho, my parents watching the sunrises, & hanging out at the beach. Many special memories. Mahalo for sharing your home. Irene was wonderful.

A WWII veteran, I had always wanted to come to Pearl Harbor but was never able to make that journey. While here we did visit Pearl Harbor and the Punchbowl Pacific Cemetary. Our stay at the Seaweeds was the best of all. What a scenic and comfortable place. Thanks for the memories.

The beauty of this home is instantly relaxing. To see the sunset here or wake up in the morning and look out at the sea. I feel blessed to have stepped into the Shangri-La. This is the Hawaii that one can't find in a hotel. My thanks to G's family who has made this place home for so many years.

What a magical place! This is the perfect place to come for a honeymoon. My first impressions are how this is a place for the senses. From the exotic flowers and beautiful mountain views to the sounds of water and the wind through the swaying palm trees to getting salty and sandy and then taking a shower outside. Thank you Mamu & Grandfather for letting us stay here.
