Frozen waterfalls, unique rock formations and the Porcupine Mountain Wilderness make the area a premier snowmobiling destination. If you do not have a snowmobile, we will help you rent one!
Cross Country Skiers can explore one of the finest groomed, tracked X-country ski trail systems in the Midwest, just 7 miles away.

We're closer than you think; Bessemer is only 4 hours from Madison, 4 1/2 hours from Minneapolis, 5 from Milwaukee and 6 1/2 from Chicago. You can leave after work, and sleep in Big Snow Country that night! Once you cross into Michigan's Upper Peninsula, you will experience "Americanna" like it was 40 years ago, before commercialization. You will be able to relax and re-connect with family, friends and nature. The Bessemer area is truely a "special" place.
Maplewood is a stand alone, five-plex building on the top of Blackjack Mountain ski area, with five, two bedroom units. It can be utilized individually, with up to 8 people in one unit. Or, you can bring the whole clan and take over the entire building which sleeps up to 32. It is great for family reunions. It is not owned by a large hospitality company, rather, by 3 couples, Julie & Jock, Don & Patti, Jim & Carrie, who use it regularly.
That means it is clean and well maintained! Jock & Julie live only 5 miles away. All units are remodeled with new: pillow top beds, carpet, furniture, 2 person whirlpool bathtub in units 1 & 3, appaliances, cabinets and granite counter tops.

We have a family ski trip every year (5 families). We have tried many different places and this was the best. We had the whole unit - comfy beds, lots of space, tons of parking for snowmobiles & trailers, hot tub was great... was a little work to "ski in/ski out" - but overall a great place to stay!
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, families with young children.

Beautiful facility! We enjoyed everything about it. Especially the comforable beds following the day on Blackjack. Everything was perfect and We hope to get back in 2008 - I was told that skiing Blackjack in March is the best. Thank you again!

We have already made reservations for 2008 at Maplewood, as our stay in March was wonderful. Our condo was newly remodeled with all new furniture and appliances and a northern theme. Skiing and snowmobiling were great. Looking forward to our next stay.

I highly recommend this condo!!! Not knowing what to expect from renting online,... I could not have been more impressed. I love the TV above the hot tub. Snowmobling and skiing were great. Thanks again. Awesome Place!!!

The weekend was "fabulous". The entire family enjoyed the facilities & exclaimed how simply wonderful they were. I pulled off the surprise for my husbands birthday by having the entire family there.

We have stayed at Maplewood three times in the last two years. An excellent condo to rent. Absolutely the finest in Big Snow Country. The owners have done an excellent job remodeling the kitchen, baths, bedrooms and updating all of the furniture. I hope the rest of the property owners in the UP take note of these improvements and think of how their units compare to these top notch properties.

We had a great stay at Maplewood. Very clean condo with quality throughout. Ski right out the door. Hot tub after skiing was a plus as well.
