Why the Owner Chose Maui Kai
Mark and I fell in love with Maui when a dear friend gifted them with a free week stay in one of their condos on Maui as a wedding gift. As we sat on the lanai (balcony) and drank in the Pacific blues we dreamed of owning such a oceanfront property themselves here on Maui. That dream came true in 2002 when the unique corner unit Maui Kai 301 came up for sale. It was everything we had hoped for in a Holiday rental- A DIRECT oceanfront location- actually on TOP of the water! It has a spacious lanai, a lower floor location for a more intimate relationship with the ocean and a quiet peaceful Resort. All 301 needed was some tender loving care... and well, a LOT of remodel work! For years, we took all our vacation time and upgraded 301 every chance we got. We completely remodeled the kitchen, bath, master and livingroom in the six years we have owned at the Maui Kai to create a magnificent vacation rental for all to enjoy. After 3 years of travel back and forth from the Mainland we just couldn't bear getting back on a plane to leave Maui so in the Summer of 2004 we purchased a home in South Maui and moved. We wanted to more personally care for our condos on Maui and felt like we had found a true HOME here in the middle of the Pacific.

Unique benefits of staying in Maui Kai 301 is having a unit that is personally and meticulously managed by island residents. We visit the unit regularly to update furnishings, deep clean and perform maintenance repairs. Since we manage 301 ourselves, we can offer a superior location and room quality for a very reasonable price. Since we stay in the unit often, we decorated in high quality furnishings that would make us feel at home... therefore, our guests feel as if they are staying with friends. We provide lots of little extras like spices in the cabinet and unlimited paper products as well as simple useful items like aluminum foil and zip loc bags in the cupboards. Since we love the ocean, we provide snorkel equipment and boogie boards and since we love a great night's sleep we put a Select Comfort KING sized 'Sleep Number' bed in the master. We provide an orientation binder so you will feel like a local as soon as you arrive, with suggestions for restaurants and activites. But don't be surprised if you don't want to go anywhere at all! We have beach, sun, sand - restaurants within barefoot walking distance and a grocery store across the street... heavenly Maui Kai 301. A real hidden gem in the famous West side of Maui nestled on Ka'anapali Beach voted best Beach in America! Join us and see for yourself :)

Owner's Map of Maui Kai
Mark and I are very active members of the Community. We each volunteer 10-20 hours a week. We want to show our appreciation for where we live by giving back to our community. We serve mainly as Rotarians. I was first introduced to Rotary's vision of World Peace and Understanding by being chosen as a Rotary Exchange Scholar at the age of 15. I was sent to a small rural village in the Philippines to spend my senior year of high school and live with 4 separate Rotary foster families. This year changed my life and opened my heart to the power of change that can be done one person at a time. Upon moving to Maui, we joined the Rotary Club of Kihei-Wailea and have been very active members. I am the current International Chair serving for three years, and Mark is our incoming President for 2009-10. Our successes include a local community project of transforming acres of oceanfront property being used as a dump adjacent to the Kihei boat ramp. With the help of dozens of other active community members, we completely cleaned up the area and built miles of trails. This area is now a local favorite on the weekends. Internationally, I led 2 successive grants in the Philippines near where I spent my ROTEX year. I became aware of a Social Welfare Complex in need of a $5,000 water tower to feed two dorms newly built to house close to 100 orphaned children currently living on the streets. Our project blossomed into completely outfitting these dorms beyond water so that they could have a 'home life simulation' where they could live until they reached 18 years old. This year we are helping the elderly, the disabled, and non-violent juvenile offenders. Together, these grants- provided through the support of our local clubs, District and Rotary International nearly $100,000 of support! It reinforced the power of Rotary to change lives Internationally by sending young people across the globe in hopes of changing the world, one by one.

We absolutely LOVED your place at the Maui Kai! the view was unbeatable, we saw so many whales and their babies, the weather was great and the Condo, we could not want for anything more! Shayla: The Maui Kai met all of our expectations. We just wish we could move in and live there. The view from the lanai is outstanding and it was one of my favourite things from the holiday. We all loved to sit out there and just watch the people going by and listen to the waves slapping against the shore. The whales were jumping every single day and we finally saw turtles on the morning we were leaving. The shower was one of the nicest we have ever seen and the shower head was awesome. Ron and I have stayed at a number of luxury hotels and none of them came close to this shower. We all loved it and hated to shut the water off. The glass looks great and the wavy top is so appropriate. Are the ceiling tiles bamboo? I have a lot of joint and muscle problems and the king size bed was so comfortable. Thank you! Wendy

Shayla, The condo was great. One of the things we really appreciate is that we need not worry about is cleaning staff. It is always a concern when leaving valuables in a rented place. One doesn't have to be concerned that someone will come in to clean when one is resting. Staying in your condo is like one is in ones own home, and that is so appreciated. You do a fantastic job in seeing that everything one needs is there. Though we didn't use any snorkeling equipment, beach chairs etc. they are available. You do pay attention to detail, and that is much appreciated. Thanks. If we decide to return next winter, we shall give you a call. Jackie and Pat
