We were a party of 4 and had a great time in the Mississippi House (lower unit). Everything was clean and handsome, the little garden was cosy and good to take a rest. The neighborhoud was friendly, markets, coffees and restaurants very close and good and the Muni-buses took us to every place we wantet (Tim recommended the "city-pass", which was very helpfull.) I would recommend this property to any friend or relative

The house was clean and tidy and in a great location, close to the City. the beds were comfortable and the property suited our family of 5 well. The owner was very helpful in providing quick information on the property and attractions around SF, and forwarded on some belongings we had left behind.

Great location - great appartment

I stayed at this properrty with my three adult children. The place is very well kept and it is clear the owner and manager are fully engaged in providing a comfortable place for their guests. I cannot think of any "bad" surprises. Good surprises were the parking place; the excellent internet connection; availabilty of not only a connected and on line PC, but also a printer; plenty of pots, pans, spices, cooking oil, etc. so you could really cook a meal; the proximity of the Potrero Hill "downtown"; the easy availability of taxis (taxis are not expensive in SF, by the way); many maps, guidebooks, and tourist brochures for all of Northern California. The only question we had during our four day stay was answered immediately on a Friday evening with one telephone call to the manager.

Great for large group and child friendly!

The 3 bedrooms were great and very accommodating for our large group. The location was really great and very centralized. The house was fully furnished and was very comfortable. There were dishes and baby chairs which were convenient for our young son. We would definitely stay there again in the future. There was a large plaza nearby with Safeway, cafes, and Ross which was great for shopping and groceries. The property was very clean and well maintained. The owners provided all the necessities such as towels, shampoo, soap, etc - really helpful! Owners were great and responsive to any questions we had!

What a wonderful place to stay!

Date of Stay: 03/26/11 Review Submitted: 04/08/11

My husband and 2 teenagers recently stayed in the bottom unit. It was just as described, immaculate and very comfortable. Large extremely well-equipped kitchen. The location was fabulous - walking distance to 2 bus lines and the train. The neighborhood is quiet and charming - several good restaurants (we particularly liked Aperto and Chez Papa) - bookstore, bakery, coffee shop, etc. etc!! Keith met us at the unit and was very helpful getting us oriented both to the apartment and to the neighborhood. They were also available by phone when we had a question. We would definitely recommend this property and would stay there again when we visit San Francisco.

This home is lovely. Each room is comfortable and well appointed, the kitchen is well stocked, the views are first-rate. I traveled with a toddler and the owners provided all the gear I needed (crib, gate, & high chair). The neighborhood is perfect for travelers who do not want to have a car. Several markets, independent coffee shops, book shops and great restaurants are a short walk away.

Beautiful stay

Date of Stay: 09/17/10 Review Submitted: 10/29/10

Our family of 5 adults and a baby stayed in the upstairs unit in September of this year. The views were incredible (well worth the steep staircase climb even for our elderly parents). The neighborhood was perfect-- walking distance to great restaurants, cafes, and close to a Whole Foods. Accommodations were very comfortable and the communal areas were especially spacious with beautiful light and charm. We've had family in San Francisco for over a decade, but somehow staying here made the city feel new in the best of ways.

Ampthill (UK) to SFC - September 2009

The last stay of our California fly drive vacation in 2009. We had the downstairs flat for five nights. To be honest, I wished had paid the little extra for the even better views in the upstairs flat. A real change of pace from our stays in LA and Las Vegas. This house had an elegant old world charm. Unlike newer homes however, one has to be patient when taking turns for use of the bathroom. The owners went out of their way to be helpful during our stay, and throughout the booking stage in months beforehand. The neighbourhood is quiet, and the views of the city at night awe inspiring. Main road junctions close by for easy access to city centre and other attractions. It really was a bonus to find the good food and service local restaurants offered made a good night out was only minutes away from the house, so able to leave the car parked up, and enjoy a couple of pints! This rental was very good value for money. I also made my mind up to book this home upon seeing the many positive reviews made by others. We have some great memories of our stay in San Francisco. This home is recommended

Our family holiday to San Francisco for three couples in late 40's early 50's was excellent. In no small part the trip was enhanced by the accomodation. Close to transport to town, near wonderful restaurants and grocery shops. You could take it easy on the hill or roam the city from this base. The way the apartment was set up was great with many unexpected touches that made staying there easy - spices in the cupboard, books and brochures on what to do. And of course a well set up kitchen !! Easy to get to, a delight to stay at and great value.

The apartment is clean, well furnished and spacious and felt like home from home. The views are fabulous and the street is quiet. Well placed for public transport and good restaurants and cafes just round the corner. The house is on a steep hill with stairs to the front door and more stairs inside, so it's good for keeping fit! We were very comfortable and would not hesitate to recommend this apartment. The owner even took us to the supermarket when we arrived.

"We enjoyed our stay and hope to return for a longer visit. The views of the City, the Bay and the Bridge are spectacular. The condo is spacious and very well equipped. In the immediate vicinity there are several wonderful neighborhood restaurants and a great independent bookstore. The reasonably fit can easily walk to downtown, Mission Bay and the design district from this location and there is public transportation a half block away. We missed having laundry facilities on the premises, but there is a coin laundromat a half block away. For S.F. first-timers, the condo is loaded with tourist information and suggestions and even some discount coupons for restaurants and attractions. There is even an off street parking space in the driveway. Stairs to the front entrance and rather steep stairs to the upstairs unit will make this lodging unsuitable for some. "

This house is such a wonderful home away from home. It was much more spacious then we were expecting it to be and Tim was such a delight to work with. He responds very promptly to emails/phone calls and even provides additional emails about things to do in San Francisco, information about the city, etc. Tim goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is perfect. We had six girls who stayed in the upstairs three bedroom condo and there was more than enough room. The beds were super comfy and the place was extremely clean. We would definitely stay here again! Thank you so much, Tim!

One word; WOW! More words: What a great way to vacation in the city of San Francisco! There were four of us (had planned on six) in the upper, three-bedroom apartment. We were delighted to arrive in the Potrero Hill area---just off the freeway---and to have an off-street spot for our car. But the inside! Surprise, surprise! Spacious and gracious. Classy and sassy. Comfy and...well, that's enough of that. We felt completely at home and each arrival back after a day of walking or touring or shopping or whatever---each of those arrivals back was a treat--we each had a favorite spot to sip a glass of wine and enjoy the spectacular view. We cooked one night (Maman's Bistro is GREAT if you don't want to cook) and it was an easy well-equipped kitchen. T There were many little niceties--from the provided laptop and wireless connection, to the french-milled soaps and luxurious shampoos...would I go back again? in one beat of the heart I left in San Francisco! We had a great time in San Francisco thanks to Tim and Keith! Everything went smoothly; the apartment is in a nice, quiet neighborhood, and very convenient to downtown. We rented a van, but public transportation is convenient too. Right off the freeway and 3 minutes into downtown! Just about everything is provided for your stay even a whole library of San Francisco reference materials. The apt. is nice and roomy; (we had 8 in our group), very clean and nicely decorated. Great view of downtown and the bay! It sure beats staying in a hotel! By the second day we all felt right at home! Thanks!!

We had a delightful stay here over spring break. Because the upper apartment was booked, we stayed in the lower unit, which while not having quite the views of the city as the upper, was equally charming. Our hosts were helpful and friendly, and gave us a lot of good advice about the city, and recommendations about what to see and do. The location is convenient to all of areas of interest in San Francisco, and the freeway is nearby. The apartment itself was large and well-outfitted for our needs. It was decorated nicely, and very clean. We had 6 adults, and we never felt overly crowded, though be aware there is only one bathroom. Parking was never a problem, and the neighborhood is very quiet at night, which made for good sleeping. The beds are very comfy, even the pullout couch in the living room. The only problem we encountered is the noise from the upper apartment. This is an old structure with wooden floors, so any movement or talking can be heard somewhat. A friendly chat with our upstairs guests helped out a lot. Overall, it was so much better and homeier than the usual hotel stay, and I would highly recommend it to other travelers.

Tim & Keith are as hospitible as anyone I have ever stayed with, & they went WAY above and beyond to help us with the logistics of our trip. The view is- UNBIELIEVABLE- the neighborhood COOL and inviting, with every one we met helpful and kind. You will feel very comfortable and they have thought of every amenity you could possibly need. You will feel like family.

Hospitality suite: The owners have created the boutique hotel experience for their houseguests. We felt treated as very special guests during our 9 day stay, as if we were at a friend's house. It is the little touches that made us feel special. Large windows throughout the house afford great views of the Bay Bridge and panoramic San Francisco. We felt very safe and secure as we visited the Potrero neighborhood, with its interesting shops and fine restaurants. The accomodations exude a professional taste in design. Tim has put his considerable design and carpentry skills to work fashioning the entire house. We have no hesitation recommending this charming home to any travellers looking for an alternative to hotel living.

Excellent location, great host, what more could you ask for? Well you get a lot here at the apartment. Fantastic views out to the City and the Bay Bridge. We had a great view of the firework display on opening night at the Giants. Within a 2 minute drive to AT&T stadium, 10 minute drive to Fisherman's wharf, and we made it back from the Oakland A's in 30 minutes! The owner is exceptionally welcoming and helpful. He has a very good selection of guide books/maps for the City and also outlying places. The area is quiet, with parking in front of the apartment. In the 10 days we were there, we had absolutely no problems. For those without a car, the Muni bus is at the bottom of the hill (25 yards) and the Muni Tram is about 10 minutes walk away. There are a good number of restaurants and bars within 15 minutes walk, so you needn't be short of going out places. The accommodation is tastefully furnished and is equipped with everything you would need to enjoy a stay in SF. Nice touches included fresh flowers and access to the shared yard with Birds of Paradise flowers amongst other flora. Don't hesitate to make a booking as once word gets round about this accommodation, it will be difficult to book. Pity more people didn't put their comments on VRBO, as the guestbook in the apartment is brimming with complements. Hopefully we'll make it back to SF, and we'll definitely see if we can stay here. This was the perfect place for our stay in SF! My daughter and I were traveling with my sister, her husband and their 3 year old and this suited us perfectly. The unit is beautiful and spacious with all the comforts of home. We were so pleased with the location; literally only a minute or two from I-280 so all the attractions we visited (including Fisherman's Wharf)were very accessible, yet the neighborhood was quiet and calm which allowed for great sleeping at night and naptime for the little one. Tim was wonderfully hospitable and helpful with recommendations of eateries and attractions. You can not beat the views; we were especially lucky on our last night to see a fireworks display over the Bay Bridge from the dining rooms! Finding the right accomodations can really make or break a vacation, and this couldn't have been any better.

we recently travelled from Australia to LA while in America we visited several cities and stayed at a number of properties. None of the other vacation rentals we stayed at had the comforts of home as this beautiful property. The weather was still cold because it was the end of winter and little wet on some days, however we had no problem driving back to Missisippi st and making a nice hot cup of tea and admire the views of San Fransisco from the lounge room. The hospitality of the owners is also second to none, the effort they have gone to, to ensure that you not only enjoy your stay in their home but also your visit to San Fransisco, they had brochures and books on all the attractions and they were more than willing to give us any more help when we asked. I highly reccommend this property and if i ever go back this place is where i will be trying to stay at first.

Despite record setting rain and colder than expected temperatures I and my kids had a wonderful time in San Francisco during their spring break, to a large measure due to the hospitality and convenience afforded to us by Tim and his property. The location is wonderful with terrific unobstructed view of SF Downtown and the Bay Bridge, the neighborhood is quiet and very pleasant and is chalk full of various restaurants just two blocks away and our hosts are very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend and would repeat.

The neighborhood had great restaurants and the owners were very gracious. There were fresh flowers and chocolates when we arrived. The owners made sure there were plenty of linens and things when my bay area friends came to visit. We all had a wonderful time. I highly recommend this place to stay at.

In the 100+ Bed and Breakfasts places and executive suites/apts I have stayed in on my business travels, this is certainly in the top 5 best(if not the top). Don't let the modest exterior set your expectations as the inside of this place feels like a home with the designer's choices giving it just enough of a rich Victorian finish. In addition, the owners are truly wonderful people and are very willing to help with all of your requests/needs. I have traveled extensively as a business professional throughout the United States, Canada and Europe, this place is comfortable, clean, incredibly spacious, and the views are absolutely amazing. The fresh flowers and Josef Schmidt chocolates were added nice touches to welcome me to SF. The Protero neighborhood also unexpectedly housed many fine restaurants and cafes within walking distance. I give this place a 5 star rating.
