If you are looking for a place away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki where you can enjoy "Aloha Friday" everyday of the week, this is exactly the place. From 20 June - 6 July a high count of 21 members of the Texas Clan from ages 8 to 68 called 3 of the 4 rental properties "home" and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We found the "hawaii chic" most comfortable and exactly suited to our needs. The "rusty grills" that drew at least one previous comment were good enough to cook over 20 steaks, 60 hamburgers and 20 hot dogs without a single complaint. If the pool table in the game room was slanted, not a single grand kid complained over the 14 days they were there, but they did rave about the snorkles, fins, boggie boards, kayaks etc that were there whenever they needed them. "Big Sal" complained about the parking---we managed to park 3 mini vans and 3 sedans "to the right of the cones" with no problems; took a bit of training to navigate the steep and "twisting" driveway at first but once mastered neither it nor parking were ever really an issue. As for privacy, Nick and Sally were never intrusive, but were readily available. The other guests present while we were there were equally unobtrusive and un-intrusive. As for meals, in addition to the grills, there were plenty of stoves and cooktops AND a built-in toaster ( what a treat for the grand kids) furnished with the appropriate pots, pans, and other utensils for our "cooks" to feed our little army. We found that disposal plates ( which could be recycled) and washable plastic ware were a great supplement to the provided dish and silver ware. By the way, the "filter needs changing" warning in the hot tub is always on and the filter does not need changing. Believe us, 102 degrees is just prefect for relaxing in the tub during one of the early morning showers moving across the Bay. Are there some items that need updating--sure, but Nick has a plan for that (as evidenced by the new mattresses he was bringing in as we were leaving) and those few items do not detract from a great stay. Before we forget, the washers and dryer's are coin operated so bring several rolls of quarters with you. Bottom-line----if you are looking for luxury with the latest gadgets, then this is not for you. If you are looking for a most comfortable, clean. well maintained vacation retreat with fantastic views hosted by great folks and a place to build great memories--this is your place. You can bet we will be back !!

The photos on line looked great, and I must say the views from the house were nice, but when we arrived we were told we needed to wait because the cleaning crew was still cleaning the house. We were also informed the owner has his Daughter and her 1 yr old baby living on property (which is not disclosed online.) We were told to keep the volume down. We were restricted on parking do to the owner checking up on us every day. We felt like we had no privacy. The owner had a potential client come to the house to look at it, and this man just walked into the house asking for "Nick." The bbq grills were dirty. If you dont mind being treated like a bunch of kids who are gonna trash the place, or have someone breathing down your neck at your every move, than this is a place you may enjoy.

Owner response: Aloha! Thank you for taking time to write this review. I sincerely apologize if we did not live up to your expectations and personally thank you for your comments. It is through feedback such as yours we will be able provide a better product. I am sadden this issue was not brought to my attention earlier. Your experience with our service is definitely not the norm on our property. This type of review is certainly not indicative of the service we provide or have provided in the past. I would like to take a moment to explain a few of your issues. 1st regarding parking all of our guests have assigned parking. If you are blocking the drive way we will ask you to move. 2nd check in time is at 4pm as stated in the contract, we try very hard to accommodate our guests by letting them drop off their luggage but we need time to adequately clean a 5000sq ft. home. 3rd My daughter and I, live at the very top of the hill, at least 100 ft. from any of the homes. We assist with needs that might arise, most guests appreciate that we are there to get them more propane, deal with recycling, take the trash to the street each day, etc.. 4th regarding the noise, we believe in being very respectful of our neighbors. Most homes in Hawaii keep their windows open all of the time and noise travels. So we need to address noise issues as they arise. I know most people would not want to live close to homes that are having parties every other night. We respect our guests privacy and rarely interact with them unless they need something or issues arise. I have sent you a direct message to please contact me personally so we can address your concerns and called a few times. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Once again sincere thanks for your time and concerns. Mahalo, Nick

Our family of 8 adults, 2 teenagers, and 2 little kids stayed here for a week in May and had a GREAT time! Tons of space... SPECTACULAR views. Very private. Very relaxing. The price and location can't be beat. Most days, even though we had activities to do around the island, we kept saying to each other that we wouldn't mind just hanging at the pool all day everyday. Other great surprises: 3 refrigerators for all your Costco food, TONS of towels, TONS of boogie boards and surfboards and pool floats, centrally located, and lovely ocean breezes in every bedroom.

Wonderful house for big groups. The 5-bedroom villa fits our party of 9 perfectly and has everything we needed. The view is absolutely amazing. The game room has lots of fun and is full of beach gears. Thank you Nick and Sally, you guys are really nice and helpful, Mahalo!

We stayed here in September 2010, and it was absolutely wonderful. Nick was away so all we met was Sally, and she was great. Thanks Sally for being so attentive and personable. The location was good 'cuz it allowed access to the whole island. The property is absolutely gorgeous and offers sweet views. It's perched up on a hill overlooking ...Kaneohe Bay. The house itself is older, but very practical and maintained. The large kitchen with a couple fridges/freezers was nice for our group. There were tables outside, a cool game room, a hot tub, pool was fun, and the game garage had everything we needed from kayaks to car-kayak thingies to snorkel geal to beach chairs to beach toys. Very lovely. Pros: Location, View, Size, Pool, Hot Tub, Large and Complete Kitchen, Quiet, Toys Cons: Wasn't as clean as a hotel, and there weren't very good cleaning supplies (and they require you to clean up after yourself - I guess that's standard for vacation rentals??)

We spent two weeks renting the entire hillside estate for our wedding. My extended family of 22 had plenty of room to spread out with spectacular views in almost every room. With just a few minute ride to the beach, I preferred waking up and ending the day relaxing by the pool which has a view from the hillside that can't be beat. The extra amenities that the house had at our disposal(swimming, snorkeling, boogie boards, surf boards etc.) really made it easy to have everything needed for the beach. We also had many pingpong matches in the rec room. We are looking forward to spending our next wedding anniversary back at the hillside estate.

My family stayed on the entire estate for a mini family reunion in December 2009. We had a fantastic time. There were 20 of us all together made up of my parents and all four of the siblings and their families. We had 10 kids between 16 and 5 and 10 adults. The sleeping arrangements worked out really well and we spent many hours enjoying the pool, hot tub and games room. Even with all 20 of us in the main house, as we took all of our meals together there, we were never tripping over anyone. I have recommended this rental to a number of people already.. The views were spectacular and the location was great for us.

I had 30 ppl. come and stay with me while I got married in Oahu. We all stayed at the estate (we rented the whole property) and we enjoyed our time there immensely. The houses themselves are nice, keep in mind they are "Hawaii nice" and not "Hilton nice" but they were just fine for all of us. The houses were all very clean and there was just about anything you could want or need stocked at the houses. One of the big selling points for us was the 'game room' but sadly all of the amenities listed in this room were either broken or missing too many things to be playable (for ex. the pool table is warped and missing balls) The pool and the hot tubs were all very nice and my guests enjoyed them greatly. The view can't be beat! Whenever something needed attending to Nick was on it right away and was always very polite about it too. We did have an issue with privacy but as soon as we mentioned it to him it wasn't an issue again. I would reccomend this property and would use it again were I to return to Oahu.

Owner response: We host families from 2 to 20 people, rarely 22, for destination weddings and family reunions. We do not accommodate as many as 30. Everyone agrees to honor quiet hours, which is the law in Hawaii, and occasionally with the destination weddings groups when they are drinking, we will remind them of the loudness of their voices and quiet hours. Quiet hours maintain privacy and serenity for everyone on the hillside and neighborhood. We will also respond immediately when you need something! The game room is enjoyed by everyone, it is odd to have responded to other needs from this group with no mention of the game room until months after their visit. Since the games are enjoyed by kids as young as 2 and adults of all ages, we reorganize and maintain the games and beach gear every week. We have replaced the Air Hockey, Foosball and Ping-Pong table twice, and we replace a pool cue at least once a month. There have never been any balls missing for the pool table. While we would like to upgrade the pool table for the adults, the kids are pretty hard on it, so we have a solid, decent pool table. Most guests who arrive comment on how much we provide and how well maintained it all is. They also say one of two things about our photos: either "your photos don't do justice to how beautiful it is up here" or "Just like the pictures, only better!"

We rented the 5 bedroom home and had a wonderful time. The house is large and has spectacular views and everything we could have asked for, including great hosts. You were there if we needed you but did not bother us at all when we didn't. The house was so spacious and well designed for our group of 8. We just loved the game room in the house as well as the game area in the garage. The swimming pool provided a perfect setting for enjoying the beautiful ocean views in the distance while taking a nice swim. Everything was neat and clean. We were not by the beach but knew that when we booked and we were not bothered at all by it. The views from the hilltop (as well as the quiet and peaceful setting are so much more worth not being by a beach. We had a rental car and could easily get to the many beach areas around the island when we needed to have sand underneath us. We ate, we drank, we partied, we toured, we played games, we slept--we had a great time! Thanks so much for allowing us the opportunity to stay in your beautiful home. I had the best 50th birthday ever! And I got to spend it with a wonderful husband and friends. You were both wonderful hosts and I would rent the house again without hesitation. I recommend it to everyone looking for a beautiful Hawaiin setting. A an older but well kept home. It is the way you think Hawaii should look. We know how much work you put into keeping your beautiful home looking so good. Great job! If you're ever in Arizona, come see us at our ranch--Stage Coach Trails! Dear Nick and Sally, We had an fantastic, once in a lifetime stay in the 5 bedroom villa in April. We went through a long process in deciding where to stay on our trip to Hawaii and Hillside Villa came out on top in all categories. Not surprising why - it's a truly amazing property with breathtaking views and fantastic amenities. Our favourites would have to be the wonderful light-up pool and hot tub - many an evening was spent relaxing in there with a glass of something after whipping up a nice BBQ! Speaking of which, it's a chef's paradise as we were all keen cooks. It has pretty much every tool you can ever think of and a great variety of perishable goods on offfer for those who like to add a bit of variety in their meals. The location was excellent as it was pretty much our base for exploring Oahu as everything is within a short drive of the home. I have to also give a special mention to the sound system, which can be played throughout nearly all the rooms in the house. Excellent! And you yourselves couldn't have been more accomodating, giving us access to all the wonderful games and accessories that we could possibly need to ensure that our stay in Hawaii was truly memorable one. And who could forget Belle! We'll always cherish the mean that the seven of us shared on the first night we were there. Great memories...! All the best, and keep safe, Roy, Chris, Tom, Samantha & Sinead

the pictures do not do this home justice. it is fabulous. the views are breathtaking. the house is spectacular. it's open space and floor to ceiling windows and sliders make you feel like you live in the clean fresh air all of the time. what a show the clouds put on. you could live on the lanai and never step foot in the rest of the house. the house is stocked with many extras to help make hawaii fun such as snorkels, boogie boards, surf boards, flippers, water shoes etc. it's convenient location makes it easy to get anywhere on the island in no time. why waste your money on a hotel where you are stuck in a small room with a small balcony with just a glimpse of the ocean (if you are lucky) there is shopping just minutes from the house in either direction. the owners have a wealth of information about all of the best places to eat (locals love to eat there) and shop. they have maps to show you around the island. there are so many places to go and things to do on oahu. most people only know about waikiki or honolulu. come to the windward side and see a whole different hawaii. it's an experience of a lifetime. it was truly a dream vacation. thank you nick and sally. we will surely be back again and again.

My family had a wonderful time at the Hillside Yacht Club Estate. The patio was a great place to relax and watch the sailboats in the bay. The kids loved playing in the game room and swimming in the pool. My fiance' and I got married at a nearby church and we held a small reception at the house. The beautiful view and colorful flowers provided the perfect backdrop to our wedding photos. There were a few afternoon showers but it didn't pose a problem because the inside was roomy enough for all of our guests. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would love to come back and stay again.

We enjoyed the view / terrace / pool and the kitchen the most.Perfect for the wedding by the pool and dinner after.Having stayed in Honolulu many times as well as all the islands, we found Kailua to be truly Hawaiian. We had a wonderful time there. Sally and Nick treated us like family and were there for us when we need them 24 hours! I was surprised to see the house was actually better than the pictures. Other than seeing an insect we wouldn't rather see, which I understand is quite common in tropical area, we couldn't have been happier. We'll miss this place!

WOW!! The perfect place to stay in Oahu! Spectacular views from everywhere in the house, especially lounging by the pool. We stayed there with family and friends for a week (when we were getting married) and our vacation could not have been more relaxing. Everyone could hang out together or there where plenty of places to hide out by yourself. The game room is fabulous for the kids or adults wanting to have fun. There are surfboards, coolers, boogie boards, rafts, you name it, this house has it!! I recommend it to every family looking to relax and get away with every convience of home!
