We stayed there late May 2011 and it was great. It's on the mainland, very near the lobster pounds and the bridge to Mt. Desert Island. The location is the best of both worlds. The cabin had all of the needed amenities, but still retained the rustic qualities and atmosphere of being a cabin. It's exactly as the pictures on the web site show it. We feasted on lobsters and steamers in the eating area which has such a beautiful view! No TV, which was great. It's in a nice quiet area, on a very tiny road. We saw a (smaller type) whale right from the cabin! Don't miss the really cool nearby medium-sized grocery store nearby "hidden" with the gas station. Or, a few miles away on the mainland you can find all of the big stores. We settled on a family-run place just outside of Bar Harbor as our favorite place to buy lobsters to cook at the cabin. Be sure to visit the other smaller towns on the island in addition to Bar Harbor. Everything there is the real thing. The owners were great to deal with. We loved the cabin, the area, and had a great time.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 7/7

We very much enjoyed our stay at this property. If you love nature, you will love this place. Plenty of birdwatching, seal and porpoise sightings. We spent many an hour beach combing among the rocks and pebbles. The sunroom in the cabin affords an open view of the bay and mountains of Acadia park. The kitchen has every implement a cook would need. The bedrooms are cozy. The woodstove kept off the chill of a Maine night. The cabin was stocked with just about anything you would need (bring your own bed linens remember) I did not tell my daughter (21) and husband there would be no tv...heehee. But they adjusted quickly. Although there is one set of binoculars at the cottage, bring a pair for everyone! The cottage is in a perfect location. Easy to travel to Acadia Park and Bar Harbor, yet a quiet oasis at the end of the busy day. Hint: Ellsworth, a town 5 minutes in the other direction, is a good place to buy essentials without paying Bar Harbor tourist prices.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.

This cabin was so adorable! From the moment my husband and I pulled up, we were in love. The view from the porch was amazing. The sun coming up over the mountains is worth getting up early for. During high tide, the water comes up to bottom of the steps. Everything you could need is right here! The lobster pot, the woodstove to keep you warm on a chilly Maine night and the beautiful LL Bean dishes to make you feel at right at home. It has a beautiful deck outside tha'ts perfect for watching the moon rise over Western Bay. It's located about 2 miles from the main road so it's easy to get anywhere, especially Mt. Desert Island and Bar Harbor. I would definetly recommentd this rental. I can't wait to go back!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children.
