When my family and I went down and stayed in this home for a family get away vacation , it was very nice and pleasant . If you have gotten a bad review on this house are way out of line . It was a big , spacey , and clean house . The placement of the house is also very nice . If we would have been any closer to a the ocean it wouldn't have mattered . It is a very nice place . We are very happy we chose to stay there .

I am pleased to recommend this site to potential families. The facility was very up-to-date and the carpets just freshly cleaned. The owner was available for any and all questions we had and even called to ask if everything was acceptable. We were so very close to the beach that no golf carts or even wagons were needed. There was plenty of room for our 4 families to enjoy time together and also plenty of bedrooms to enjoy some private time. I would strongly recommend this property. I definitely give this location 5 stars!

The house was wonderful. Very roomy & very clean. The carpets had been shampooed the morning before we arrived. Jeff asked that we let him know if there was any issues for him to take care of immediately. The short distance to the beach was great. No need for a golf cart. I was not in Myrtle Beach to watch TV so finding out after the fact that the cable had an issue wasn't a big deal to me. Jeff took care of it when he realized there was a problem. He was a pleasure to work with & I would definitely recommend this home. There is not a place for 6 stars but that's what I would pick if I could.

The house was very clean and attractive. The 3 TVs in the house were modern flat screens, however the two TVs in two of the bedrooms were small. Jeff addressed an air conditioning problem in the queen size bedroom promptly and it was fixed. The covered parking area for 4 cars under the living area was great! Great broiled seafood at Lee's Inlet and Drunken Jacks in Murrells Inlet which is 5 miles away. We pounded down nails that were sticking up on both sets of outside wooden steps when we arrived after one adult and child caught their shoes on them. No problem with that afterward. The cable TV is very basic and minimal with a few local stations, several weather channels, including the Weather Channel and the only national news is HLN. There is no CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, etc. The males in our party were really disappointed with no ESPN channels. There was only a loveseat and couch in the living room (seats for 5) in a house for 12 people. More comfortable seats could be added in the living room. Also the rental price for this property for a summer week was incorrect on the HomeAway website when we looked at the website in January 2011. It is still incorrect on the website. Linens, cleaning fee and daily parking fees per car are not included in the price. There were a lot of activities inside Ocean Lakes including 2 swimming pools, mini golf, arcade and a rec center with daily organized activities. The ocean beach was a short walk from this house which was a plus as some of the properties are far from the beach so there are a lot of golf cart rentals inside this development.

Owner response:I'm sorry you had trouble with the cable TV service. We do have the Premium cable TV package which includes all of the channels you mentioned including ESPN, CNN, MSNBC, FOX and dozens of other channels. I wish you had notified me when you were here and I would have called the cable company to fix the problem. Otherwise, I'm glad you had a nice time and we hope to see you again soon.

Best Vacation Ever

We rented one of the 4 bedroom homes for a long weekend over Halloween 2010. The home and property are absolutely wonderful. We are planning another stay in 2011. Jeff is so easy to work with and just a dream to work with. My family can hardly wait for our next visit. Ocean Lakes is a wonderful vacation spot with everything you need right onsite...you would never have to leave if you didn't want to!

We've been renting from Jeff for several years and have never been disappointed. We've come in the early spring, the summer and the fall. For the summer trips we've rented two 4 bedroom houses next to one another to take care of the children and the grandchildren. My brother and his family stayed at the nearby Holiday Inn on the weekend which gave us a real family reunion. Jeff is a gracious Southern host who has been most accomodating. Greatest Beach Vacation!!!

This was our family's second vacation stay at this beach house. It really is the perfect place for a family vacation. There is so much for everyone to do. The house fit our needs perfectly. It was very nice and clean and well maintained. The house is very spacious and has all of the amenities we could ever need. We could tell that Jeff and Cindy really care about keeping it in great shape for their guests. Jeff is very professional and easy to work with. They always help to steer us in the right direction when we ask for dining or entertainment suggestions. We have already reserved a week to come back again next year!!!

Renter Beware

"Our party of ten (10) was very disappointed with the accomodations. So much so that we did not end up staying here. After a thorough "going over" we decided that we had to relocate. The house was not "clean." The linens that were provided, I would not dry my car with or let my pet lay on. The couches were soiled and filthy and the floors were sticky. The cable TV had four fuzzy (4) channels that looked like the movie Poltergeist. The balcony wood was so rough that my wife received a splinter through her shoe. It took approximately twenty minutes to remove the splinter which was one (1) inch wide out of her foot. After speaking with the owner, he inspected the house for himself. He admitted that the house was not to "up his standards". "

Owner response:Please read all of our reviews and take this one with a grain of salt. This person never even checked in. They had a change of travel plans and wanted to change their reservation dates less than a week before their arrival. I was not able to accomodate the change because we were already booked over the busy Memorial Day weekend. They are demanding a full refund which is unreasonable since I was not able to re-rent the house with such short notice. Their comments are simply false, and they are just posting this in order to try to get more money back. As you can tell from all of the other reviews, we take great pride in having some of the nicest beach houses in Myrtle Beach. I have done this for over 12 years and have the best reputation in the area. I have NEVER had an upset guest, and if there is ever an issue with a house I personally make sure it is taken care of. I will be happy to provide additional references upon request.

We really enjoyed our family week at the beach. The house was clean, comfortable, and spacious. Our children loved all that the area had to offer. We loved using the golf cart to ride to the ice cream stand every night after dinner. The owner was friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend this house.

This was our third visit to the same location. The house was just as it was in 2007--plus a few new things. We love the carpet in the great room. Everything was clean and well maintained. My family loved going to the beach and spending time together.

Hi Jeff and Cindy, We had a great time at your beach houses. They are very nice, just like all the other reviews stated. We had lots of family from all over the eastern US meet for our family reunion, and it worked out great since you had several houses. They were all very clean and comfortable, and what a great location. All of the neighborhood ammenities kept everyone busy and the beach is georgeous. The Ocean Lakes house was great! My family had a wonderful time doing all of the great extra things to do (miniature golf, indoor and out door swimming pools, a great kiddie pool, arcades, snack bars, ping-pong, Bingo, and much more!) We had a great time and hope we can come back again!

I'll be back! We enjoyed our week at the beach this year. Ocean Lakes has it all! The house was great--very spacious and clean. We loved staying in a gated- supervised community. We had an excellent time in Myrtle Beach. The house is so close to the beach that we can see it from the decks. The community that the house was located in had good amenities. The owner was helpful in answering my questions and reachable by phone. If you get a chance, try Carolina Roadhouse for dinner some night.

This was the best vacation our family ever had. The house was gorgeous and very clean and comfortable. The neighborhood has so many free activities for the kids - they had a blast. Great ocean view from the house and beautiful wide beach. The location is great - much nicer and less traffic than in the middle of Myrtle Beach, but only about a five minute ride to all of the activities. Jeff was very helpful in answering all of our questions.

Great Vacation! We had a great vacation. The house was very nice and extremely clean. The beach is beautiful and the neighborhood has so many amenities for the kids (and us older people). This is a wonderful family oriented gated community. Everyone was so friendly from the time we entered the gates until we left. The owner called upon our arrival to make sure everything was OK. I found that to be a nice gesture. I would recommend the house and Ocean Lakes to anyone. The only thing I would do different is I would try a rent a golf cart from the home owner. I didn't think we would need one, but soon found out it was the only way to get around. It was a little pricey renting from Ocean Lakes. They have lots of activities at the Rec Center that are free. This was a great place to make memories with our children and grandchildren. Owner's Response: I'm glad you had a great vacation at our beach house. Everyone who stays there just loves it. Our Vacation Was Great This was an great choice for us. The house was nice and clean, and we were steps from the beach. The resort where the house is located had so much for us to do without ever having to leave or spend extra money. We had a great time.
