This beautiful log chalet is located just a few minutes walk to the ski lifts of Fernie Alpine Resort with ski to the door convenience. Log beds, pine floor, and woodburning fireplace add to the charm of our Black Bear Chalet. In fact, we adopted a stuffed black bear from Fernie Mountain while we were building our home and he is still present as the keeper of our chalet.
Our chalet is ideal for large families or groups who love to cook and socialize around our large kitchen table, built by one of the owners. In the summer large decks, barbecue, and a commercial hot tub aid to the enjoyment of the secluded property with flora and fauna in abundance. Firepit overlooking the lake at the back of the property makes you feel like you are back to nature. A little piece of Canadian paradise!

Why the Owner Chose Fernie
As avid skiiers, we first fell in love with Fernie because of the DEEP powder snow in the winter season. Later, we learned Fernie is a great place to be all year around - skiing, snowboarding, ski-doing, fishing, rafting, and of course, golf!
The Unique Benefits at this Log Chalet
Our property offers a unique feel because of it log structure. The chalet is very grand and spacious, yet has a cozy feel to it. It is located right on the ski hill, and offers a large private deck that wraps around the back into the forest of the Fernie ski resort.
Owner's Map of Fernie
Myles, brother Colin and wife Lana Radchenko built the Black Bear Chalet in 1990. Our first season of rentals was in 1991, and we have been renting it ever since. Our guests enjoy all seasons throughout the year in this vacation paradise.
Myles Radchenko is a biology high school teacher, originally from Swift Current, now located in Yellowknife, NWT.
Lana & Colin Radchenko are originally from Saskatoon, and now are located in San Diego. Lana is a chartered accountant working for Sempra Energy. Colin is the head PGA professional at Steele Canyon Golf Course. Also pictured is our dog, Lacey.

For 10years plus the Edwards family has been going on an annual ski trip. This was our first trip to Fernie. We've all enjoyed our stay at the chalet - especially the space and the close proximity to the hill!

Our whole group enjoyed our stay at Black Bear Chalet immensely. We had perfect ski conditions and a perfect hostess. The chalet was everything we could ask for. The hot tub was well used by our weary skiers - the perfect end to a perfect day. Thanks very much!
