This is what you are looking for in a Blue Ridge Mountains rental, all within a convenient distance from one of America's great cities and great airports. Located in the luxury resort community of Big Canoe, this house is located at 3000 feet above sea level on top of Sanderlin Mountain, one of the tallest peaks at the extreme southern end of the Appalachian Mountains. The views, looking south all the way to Atlanta on a cool clear day, are truly stunning. Sitting on the deck with a refreshing drink -- a sense of relaxation, serenity, and inspiration accompanies the sounds of the forest, the soaring birds of prey, and an occasional deer or flock of turkeys. On some days you can watch the changing weather up to 80 miles away. On a clear night the lights of the northern Atlanta suburbs twinkle below the stars (it is not Los Angeles yet, but it is getting there) and on the horizon a steady stream of jets come and go at the country's busiest airport. The mood is great for family gatherings, a get-away with friends, decompressing, or romance.
At the same time, the house is an excellent home base for touring all of the historic, wilderness and cultural sites of North Georgia and the Tennessee and North Carolina Mountains. You can even venture into Atlanta for the day if you want. Escaping the summer heat? In July and August, the daytime temperatures way up here average ten or more degrees below the temperatures at lower elevations in Big Canoe. Spring and fall weather is usually spectacular, and this is certainly a prime time. The crystal clear blindingly-bright winter days and the cozy, foggy, and even snowy ones are great too.
The top floor of the house is all about the architectural design, with wonderful high vaulted and beamed wood-paneled ceilings, a huge master bedroom, double shower/jacuzzi, extra large kitchen, large dining room with skylight, as well as length-of-the-house back deck and screened porch. There is a completely private enclosed courtyard deck for eating or sunbathing. The lower level has three bedrooms, each with private balconies, family room with fireplace, bath with jetted tub, additional bath with shower, and additional screened deck. There are two king, one queen, a set of twin beds, as well as a sofabed. All bedrooms have TVs and there are two DVD players and a large screen TV in the living room. There is a total of 2900 square feet. Support of professional property management (called "Chimneys") is available onsite. This truly unique house is identified as "5161 Deer Run Ridge" and must be specifically requested when making reservations.
