4 distinct patios and terraces, all adjoining 5 generous living and sleeping rooms, are filled to overflowing with flowers, birds, and the energy of San Miguel. With 3 levels, 3 full bathrooms, sleeping for 8 guests, and 3000 square feet of living space (1700 inside plus 1300 of outside patios and rooftop terraces), there is room and privacy for all.

Casa Sophia is nestled on a rare, quiet, intimate cul-de-sac in a family neighborhood with minimal traffic and street noise. You feel a world away from the hub-bub, automobile gridlock, and boisterous nightlife of downtown San Miguel - the Centro. Yet a leisurely 10 minute stroll through the friendly and picturesque cobblestoned neighborhood brings you to the famed Instituto Allende and the fabulous artisan center of Calle Ancha de San Antonio. Another 5 minute walk (much longer if you tarry in the dozens of arts and crafts shops along the way) and you are sitting in the town square- the Jardin- gazing at the remarkable baroque cathedral - the Parrochia- enjoying the frequent fiestas and nightly live music and performances, or dining in the best restaurants of the Centro. Also, only three blocks from Casa Sophia is one of the grand markets.

Casa Sophia’s Great Room is the focal point for gracious indoor living. The locally-crafted furniture, carpets, and chandeliers add colorful and mellow accents to the cooling Mexican stone floor. Locally-crafted leather barstools invite conversation while preparing the meal or Margaritas. A wrought-iron table for 6 crafted by San Miguel artisans awaits your (or the cook’s) creations. Our housekeeper Maria Elena will be happy to cook tasty meals for you, per prior arrangement and at a modest additional cost.

Casa Sophia has 2 formal bedrooms with full bathrooms (toilet, sink, and shower). Each of these rooms has a King bed, which can be uncoupled into 2 twin beds as needed. Thus two couples, or one couple and two individuals, or four individuals can sleep in these 2 rooms.

2 additional rooms (the Den and the Penthouse) have plush, near-Queen size sofa beds, each of which can sleep a couple. The Den also has its own adjoining, full bath with tub. The Penthouse, with its sweeping and stunning view of the San Miguel skyline, serves as a place of inspiration, meditation, and creative work.

Altogether, Casa Sophia can sleep up to 4 couples or 6 individuals sleeping separately (or any combination).
