We went for a weekend family getaway 3 days & nights totally a wonderful experience that I would fully recommend for any family, any group of friends, church group, a womans or mens retreat fishing group, just looking to get away where you want a peacful relaxing experience. This is also a photographers dream. We saw white tail deer in the back by the river, sounds of many different birds, fish jumping, the beautiful trees all around, and the peacefull flow of the Chippewa River. The kayacks were right there waiting for you. I never kayacked before but with family or freinds you can't help but want to try it. Enjoyed it, Listing description was very accurate. The listing photos didn't do it justice, the beauty of the outside by the river, the calmness, serenity, peacefull tranquility was amazing. No lack of rooms or beds to chose from comfortable and warm. The kitchen clean big easy to get around and best of all gas stove loved it. Every inch of the exterior and enterior was amazing. The comman area couches, chairs, tables everywhere. No lack of places to relax by yourself or laugh and enjoy the people around you. Game room fun, pool, darts, pingpong. With a stage for anyone that plays music or anyone that want's to show off their talents. We brought a kareokee machine and had a blast. Every part of the property was clean and well maintained. The owner was very helpful with any questions anyone of us had. Everyone of us in our family would recommend this place to anyone looking for a warm and inviting getaway, we didn't want to leave. Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall wouldn't think twice that's where I would want to stay. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Being a large family this place is excellent for everyone young and old. We had the family band and DJ and they have the stages to accomadate them. A large dancing area for dancing too. The family tubed down the river several times. No matter the weather something to do inside or out all the time for young and old. All the refrigerators and coolers save on ice runs greatly. Biking and walking daily cannot list what everyone did as too many things going on at one time. And the air conditioning was great also when it got hot out making sleeping at night a ease. Will definitely be back here again. For those whom are a bit questionable of this place you just have to see it to believe it.
Owner response:Hi John, Glad you had a good time at the Lodge.I know this was your first time, it's kind of overwhelming at first. I'm happy you got to use stage and have music, that's what we do for all our family reunions. Happy Trails. David

What a fantastic trip for our family. Great weather, great times for our large group. Never a dull moment for anyone always something to do rain or shine. With a bank and DJ and all of the Lodge accommodations nothing left out. Having a family meeting coming up to get up there next year also as soon as everyone is available. Enclosing a few pics of tubing by the family, the family band and DJ, dancing to the band and playing screw your neighbor a card game by the bar. That place is out of this world for a large family gathering. Will be in touch. John Walkosz

We had such a great time at The Lodge. It was my first time there and my boyfriends third time. I can't wait to go again. We went with an awesome group of people and the place was beyond what I expected. It was very clean and all the decorations were cool to look at. Everything about it and our vacation was amazing! Especially all the lilacs were blooming and the weather was great! :)
Owner response:Hi Angela & Dustin, Glad you had a nice time. The first time there is always very special. That's why we have so many returning visitors. Hope you can return soon. Thanks, David

This is honestly the best place ever. There is so much to do, and so little time! I had my family reunion here (HUGE family) and there was enough space for all of us! Kayaking was great, we spent all weekend smiling so much our faces hurt. I swear it was due to the lodge just as much as the family. We had time to use every amenity, and we had no complaint. The pictures don't do it justice. It was spotless, fresh, and gorgeous. When we weren't busy doing EVERYTHING, there was enough space to relax and have some time to one's self, too. Even though we were so active for the whole weekend, we came back feeling refreshed and better than when we left. You would have to be dull not to enjoy yourself here. There's something for everyone. Lastly, the owners are amazing and even though they're off site, they're so accomodating and friendly you don't have to worry about a thing.

I have had the pleasure of staying at the Lodge twice and both times have been great. Everything from the bathrooms to the bedrooms are clean, inviting, and well set up. I do not have a negative thing to say as everything was as good as I could have hoped for. Being able to kayak down the Chippewa river was a major highlight! I hope to have the pleasure of going again.
Owner response:Hi Danielle, i'm glad you had another great time at the Lodge. kayaking down the river is one of our best adventures when up north. Hope to hear from you again. Thanks, David

Great family weekend at Chippewa River Lodge

Our family had a lot of fun at the Chippewa River Lodge in mid-June 2011. We arrived to find a freshly mowed yard, clean house and comfortable accommodations including the many bedrooms, which afforded the privacy we were looking for. The kitchen was large, with 2 fridges, and there were 2 bbq grills on the huge deck overlooking the expansive backyard right on the rivers. We took advantage of the kayaks and had a fun float, dropping into the water at the Wannigan Bar and paddling right back to the shore of the lodge. The 2 outdoor fire pits meant we could have almost 2 separate parties going on outside, with the bar indoors for those who wanted to stay inside. We all had a blast and will definitely be back. Thanks - great place!
Owner response:Hello C.J., Glad you had a nice time. We are trying to add new things every year. the second fire pit closer to the lodge has made it easier to have two fires going. Usually one for the kids and one for the older folks with a family reunion. Looking forward to hearing from your group again in the near future. Best regards, David

We had a wonderful time! The place was very clean when we arrived. It was perfect for our large group to have our own space if we wanted or to all be together as a group. The kids loved the game room and they had plenty of room outside to run around and play. We had a wonderful time and we will be back again.
Owner response:I'm glad you had another good time at the Lodge. Thanks for taking care of the place the way you did. Looking for your next return. Take care. David

Just wanted to say thanks! It was our third time up and each time it gets better and better. Great to be able to float down from the Wannigan and start a fire, grill some steaks, and still have comfy, clean bedrooms to sleep in when the day's activities are done. Not to mention the bar! Big thanks to Bob as well for all the help! Can't wait to come back again!

Smells Bad

I was at this House for a weekend in April with some friends. The house had a bad smell to it, Also multiple sinks were clogged. One of the upstairs showers was broken and not in working order. The Grill looked like it had not been cleaned since the early 80's. The inside was OK as long as you don't mind wearing your shoes the whole weekend. A friend of mine who set up trip said he was fine by owner for a broken shower and for starting a fire in the oven. The shower was broken when we arrived and we never used the oven, we grilled the whole weekend. This owner has a poor vacation property and has very shady business practices. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Owner response:I am the owner of this property and would like to respond to this very one-sided and deceptive review lest a potential renter get the wrong impression. First I want to clarify that we prefer to have family reunions at our lodge, as the potential for major damage from excessive partying is low. But in this case we decided to allow a group of 20-something males to come up. After seeing the excessive damage they did to our property we charged them additional fees, and it was then that they decided to write us a poor review packed with false accusations and claims. If there were a website for reviewing rental guests, we would give this group a 0 out of 5 and warn property owners not to rent to them. Our cleaning company, who are very thorough, gave us a list of atrocities committed by these guests. Among their many disrespectful and malicious offenses were: • Food dumped on rear deck (presumably from the fire in the oven) • Vomit on outside of upstairs and downstairs toilets • Peanut shells strewn throughout the entire house • What looked like the aftermath of a cereal food fight in one of the upstairs bedrooms (we have a strict policy of no food in the bedrooms) • Bar sink was plugged with peanut shells • Caps from cap guns littered inside and out • Fire in the oven, and a big mess left over from the baking soda or fire extinguisher used to extinguish it • Soot all over kitchen, kitchen left in a filthy state • Partially eaten chicken left in bedroom • Various beverages found under beds Considering the breadth and severity of these abuses and damages, we think the additional fees assessed were actually quite modest considering most hotels will add $250 to a bill just for smoking in a non-smoking room. In addition to this being a rental property, it is also our second home. We take pride in leaving it clean and making sure that our cleaners do an exceptional job between each group of guests. Our summers are almost always booked solid and we have many repeat guests who look forward to their annual stay and cannot say enough great things about the Chippewa River Lodge. Unfortunately, every now and then every rental property/hotel/etc. gets guests like these who not only disrespect the rules but seem to go out of their way to do extraordinary damage to the property. That they would have the nerve to give us a bad review is a new low
