Zelie Duvauchelle grew up in this home, moving in with her grandparents as soon as it was built. She lived here until, as an adult, she was called to move to the mainland, always returning for frequent visits and returning to live for periods of time. She is passionate about sound/music and facilitates personal growth seminars in Hawaii, Arizona, and California.

Thursday Feb. 10, 2011 About 3 p.m. Hi Zelie: Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful, peaceful and welcoming home. We loved everything about it and it provided us with the quiet, peace and rest that we needed. David and I slept in the small bedroom and looked up at the stars until we fell asleep; I used the small bathroom and David used the larger one and what fun it was for each of us to have our own bathroom; the kitchen was so well equipped that I mostly cooked instead of going out except for hamburgers a few times at Goods and Grindz which we both found to be such a neat little grocery store with neat people. Of all things, there I met a man from Whidbey Island, who is the neighbor of my college roommate!!??!! We checked out almost everything that we should have and enjoyed everything so much. The ten days went so quickly. Oh, yes, we found the wonderful book of the Hawaiian language that you wrote. How wonderful! Thank you again, Zelie. Aloha, Joyce

"Taking a much needed break from the city." Staying on the east end of Molokai is truly a unique experience. It's peaceful and quiet, with the ocean right out front and beautiful valleys to the north. The home lends itself well to the beachfront experience, with a big lanai, outside shower, and plenty of room to BBQ. Although Pukoo is a 20 minute drive from the main town, the only store on that side of the island is just walking distance away, which is convenient for food/drink/dvd runs. There's also a nice selection of cds from local Hawaiian artists to really add to the ambiance. With friendly service, this is definitely the place to stay on Molokai!

"wonderful home in paradise " The home was wonderful - everything you need and loads of space..in the middle of a beautiful garden with your own huge mango tree. A lovely little beach right at your front porch. Highly recommended for an off the beaten track yet comfortable stay.

"Restful Retreat" My husband, myself and our twelve-month-old felt so welcomed by all the thoughtful touches throughout the house (especially the yoga mats!). And by walking to Mana’e Goods and Grindz we were able to stay stocked up on diapers and other essentials that we forgot to buy in town. Some adventures included swimming in the shallow waves, exploring grass and shells and rocks and trees, lazy evenings for the parents – sans baby – outside by the ocean, talking and reflecting, walks on the beach, making food as a family, eating al fresco… All in all, this was an ideal place to truly escape, reflect and enjoy a peaceful time together.

"What a fabulous place and location!" This was such a fantastic place. The house was charming and spacious. I was so happy to stay in the house of this longtime, prominent Hawaiian family. We felt the calmness and aura of this place. The ocean views were spectacular.We were visiting from the mainland and coming back to the house after an arduous hike into Kalaupapa. What a treat to come here! My family is from Hanalei and this reminds me of how the real Hanalei used to be before becoming so commercialized. I would urge you to stay here. We certainly plan a return visit!
