Our home is ideal for both summer and winter vacations. In the winter, it is located 10 minutes from Sugar Bowl ski area, and 18 min from Royal Gorge, the largest cross country ski area in the U.S. Other ski areas in the Tahoe region are easily accessible - 15 min from Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Northstar ski areas and many others.
In the summer, there is a private beach club with swimming, docks, sailing, and sunning. (Donner Lake is warmer than Lake Tahoe). The lot is 1/4 acre and because we are located directly on Summit Creek (has water all year long), we can kayak to Donner Lake and the beach from our backyard. There are flat roads in our neighborhood for children to bike ride and also many good long distance bike rides up Highway 40 and beyond. The Pacific Crest Trail is near (at the top of Donner Pass) and there are many great hiking trails in the area.
The interior was designed as a "Great Room" with a gourmet kitchen and eating bar, dining room and a spacious living room with a rock wood-burning fireplace. There is one bedroom downstairs (queen bed) with a bathroom. Upstairs there is a Master bedroom (king bed) and bathroom and a second bedroom (triple bunk bed and queen bed) and bathroom. Also upstairs, there is a huge loft with a DVD player, sectional couch and a high quality foosball table.

Why the Owner Chose Donner Lake
We bought the property in 1999 and built the house slowly over the next three years. The property is 1/4 of an acre, flat and sunny; bordered by two creeks, one of which runs all year and is our kayak access to Donner Lake. It is only a 5 minute walk, 2 minute bike ride to the Beach Club lakeside. There are many trails nearby including the Pacific Crest Trail at the top of Donner Pass. Best of all, it is not as crowded as Tahoe and is a shorter drive from the Bay Area.
